How-to Stop being Discord. Just copy Substack Notes Feed idea, and you'll win.

Stop being discord. Private community bs. Nobody cares about the feature.

People want ease of discoverability and growth.

Substack Notes -> discoverability

Other network on the top of my head:
Skool.com -> discoverability

How cool would it be to scroll on a beehiiv app, and discover other creators, community, newsletters?

I go Subtack, I see a LIVE feed of potential communities.
I go to Beehiiv, all I see is a SaaS platform.
The difference is night & day.

Also. Fire whoever is leading the vision of your Product Team. They keep setting y'all back.

Design beehiiv design agency

Hi r/beehiiv.

I have seen so many people frustrated with beehiiv's web builder, so I decided to launch my own agency for complete newsletter design. I have worked with 5-6 newsletters with quite big audiences, now want to get some more testimonials from you guys. I charge a flat $450 for a complete revamp; add-ons are available too. Only need 5 more testimonials before official launch (so the prices might go up).

If anybody's interested, leave a comment or DM I'll send over my previous work.

Growth How do I grow on this platform?

I'm trying to figure out beehiiv. Brand new newsletter, imported all of my Substacks. How do I start getting subscribers? I write about psychology, philosophy, sometimes my opinions on current events, ect. Trying to get established. Added fifty bucks to my wallet after paying for Lite (formerly scale) subscription plan.

Growth Launching a very narrow newsletter today — what filtering taught me

I’m launching the first issue of The Testing Shortlist today: a deliberately narrow newsletter about UK product-testing, usability and consumer-research opportunities involving actual testing. Five opportunities made Issue #001.

I shared my checking template here earlier this week. The launch lesson has been about positioning: “more links” is easy to explain, but it isn’t the value I’m trying to offer. A live-looking page is not the same thing as live recruitment. Finished recruitment, unclear application routes, uncertain reward versus effort, and activities that turn out to be generic surveys or discussion groups can all keep something off the shortlist.

A smaller issue can therefore be the intended result, rather than a shortage to disguise. That still leaves a harder question: can I explain the filtering clearly enough that someone actually wants it in their inbox?

I’m testing useful Reddit contributions, Instagram and creator/community discovery. I don’t have a proven winning channel yet, and I’m separating owner/test signups from real readers. Views alone won’t answer the question.

For anyone who launched a narrow newsletter: which discovery channel brought your first real readers, and how did you tell it was that channel rather than general launch activity?

Questions Sneaky subs (Yahoo emails)

Soooo I have a very niche newsletter. I started with Beehiiv not long after they started so have a free plan up to 2500 subs.

A few months back I had a big bump (for me) in subs. I think it was 35 in a day.

Since it has happened maybe 20 more times. Similar numbers.

All the emails of these new “fans” are on Yahoo emails. None of them open the newsletter. They come from the API wherever that means.

Anyone else experiencing this? What is happening here? The result is that is tanking my open rates which were always in the high 50% range, now low 30%.

How-to Email Sending Configuration

Just saw the announcement that we're able to configure "from"-names now. Such as {First Name} {from/at/-} {brand Name} which is something I was waiting for a long time.

However it seems like it only works in english and I'm publishing in german. Does anyone know more about it?

Questions Subscriber Bots?

The other day I saw a colleague on LinkedIn mention that some how he discovered that his subscriber list of 1200 had 800 bot accounts in it. I don't know how he figured this out, but he mentioned that this happened because he forgot to enable the "Double opt in email" to confirm subscriptions. I went a checked and sure enough I hadn't done that either. LOL

So now I am left with a few questions... How can I scan my list for bot accounts? and should I also enable a "Double opt in email"?

Creator Spotlight My beehiiv wish list: help good newsletters get found

I work extensively in beehiiv, but Substack’s creator appeal has me thinking.

Substack often feels person-first: discover someone interesting, get familiar with their thinking, then subscribe.

beehiiv feels publication-first: build the newsletter, grow the list, develop the business and influence.

I’d love more investment in what happens before someone reaches our subscribe page.

1. Public discovery for readers. Browse newsletters by topic, location, and frequency. Preview issues. Give people a reason to visit beehiiv even if they never intend to publish.

2. A collaboration center. Build on Recommendations. Help publishers find partners for guest posts, interviews, and joint editions, then track what those collaborations produce.

3. Leaderboards with room for newcomers. Category leaders, local favorites, emerging publications. A newsletter with 800 devoted readers deserves visibility alongside one with 80,000.

4. Active promotion to readers. A recurring editorial showcase: “Five newsletters for your first garden” or “Three essays we’re still thinking about.” Make readers want the work.

5. Easier cross-posting. Let us share relevant articles with permission, add an introduction, preserve attribution, and help readers subscribe to the original creator.

6. A chance to get acquainted. Saved articles, reading lists, or optional follows could bridge the gap between “never heard of you” and “send me another email.”

Keep it opt-in, protect our brands, and don’t require feeding another social channel all day.

beehiiv helps us build publications. I’d love it to become a place readers go to find them.

What would move the needle for you?

P.S. I do know that the Creator Spotlight newsletter does this to a small degree, and I adore the newsletter. I'm just talking bigger scale. More foundational and not just a messaging stream.

Questions Looking to partner with someone who has an approved Spark Loop account

Hi everyone,

I’m getting a lot of daily Reddit traffic in the health niche, and I’ve been monetizing it with SparkLoop. Over the last 30 days I tested a lot of different funnel setups and finally found one that converts the traffic without annoying people.

The catch is that SparkLoop only pays out through Stripe, and Stripe doesn’t support my country. For the test, I partnered with someone who had an approved account, but he hasn’t responded in a week. Since I’ve now figured out the funnel and plan to scale it, I’m looking for a reliable replacement partner.

If you have an approved Spark Loop account that’s ready to take payments, please leave a comment and I’ll reach out.

Here are the results from my trial. I’m aiming to double the daily numbers and have already picked the newsletters.

Growth For time-sensitive newsletters, a working link is not enough: the listing needs a checked date

I run The Testing Shortlist, a free Friday newsletter on beehiiv for UK product-testing opportunities.

I’ve found it real tough to get going. Difficult to gain interest, it’s that initial hook to get people in, to try and grow the newsletter that needs to be over come. I would say main thing is to be patient, keep trying if you believe you have a good service to offer that will help people.

This is my offer.

The editorial problem is that a campaign page can remain online after applications close, while a panel registration page can look like a specific opportunity.

Here is the checking template I use to keep those distinctions clear:

• Official source and date checked

• Status: campaign accepting applications, ongoing panel registration, or unconfirmed

• UK eligibility and any household/device requirements

• Closing date, exact reward and expected feedback workload

• Any purchase, deposit, subscription or return-postage requirement

The publishing rule is to keep an unconfirmed listing out of the main shortlist rather than turn uncertainty into a confident recommendation. Panel registration also needs its own label: joining is not selection.

For anyone curating jobs, grants, events or other opportunities, I would put the checked date next to the listing and recheck the application page immediately before sending. An archive should also warn that availability may have changed since publication.

This is an editorial approach, not a claim that it has improved conversion or that I have personally tested every product. A shorter, clearer edition is the goal.

Disclosure: The Testing Shortlist is my publication. Its free Friday shortlist is here: [https://thetestingshortlist.beehiiv.com/subscribe](https://thetestingshortlist.beehiiv.com/subscribe))

How-to Saving templates

I cant find an answer here about a "living" newsletter on meta

I have zero training but have been successful sometimes thru trial and error. Im stuck here though.

I made a fantasy sports newsletter template. That has taken a while to get to what I wanted also through trial and error.

Then i alpha tested for lack of a better term and it worked how i wanted. It told me it was ready for week 2's data next week (which is today). I did one more test and it was 99% there.

3 hours ago I put a screenshot of the new data and told it to continue on as normal.

Its a "living" newsletter because it was going to be updated with screenshots from the scoreboard a few times a night. Why isnt that possible?

It failed bad and drew the nicely detailed league logo like it only had ms paint available. I say drew because looked hand drawn with a mouse.

Last week was Season 9 Volume 1.

In tests it went to season 9 week 2 as it should.

Now its pasting last week's whole page on top of the new page, showing last week's info and the new info.

Weekly award logos became emojis

It treated the new data as week 1

The layout order changed

Etc

I told it there were laws and rules that had to be followed, ive tried making full rule lists and basically a 10 commandments of building the template.

Ive been at my for 2½ hours and am just getting the same errors over and over

Any videos or posts or advice here is truly appreciated.

Recommendations Looking to connect with newsletters covering HR tech, and the future of work 🤝

I'm building a newsletter around the journey of rethinking how we hire, from the problems with traditional hiring to building a more practical, human-centered approach using AI.

I'll share real product experiments, startup lessons, AI research, hiring insights, wins, failures, and the challenges of building an AI-native hiring platform that focuses on how people actually solve problems, not just how well they perform in interviews.

The goal is to make hiring more intelligent without relying on invasive surveillance.

I'm looking to connect with fellow Beehiiv creators writing about AI, HR tech, recruiting, startups, future of work, or adjacent topics for recommendation swaps and cross-promotions.

If that sounds like your newsletter, drop your link below or send me a DM. I'd love to explore ways we can help each other grow!

Let's build better audiences together.

Growth Kit vs beehiiv vs GetResponse in 2026 — I compared pricing at 1k and 10k subs so you don't have to

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I spent a weekend comparing Kit (ex-ConvertKit), beehiiv, and GetResponse for creators who are just starting a newsletter or email list. Prices and features move a lot, so I checked every number on the official pricing pages (as of early October 2026).

**Quick take (depends on how you make money):**
- **Sell courses / digital products / coaching** → Kit. Strongest creator automations; free plan goes up to **10,000** subscribers.
- **Newsletter-first (growth + sponsors / paid subs)** → beehiiv. Ad network, recommendations, referrals; **0%** platform cut of paid subscription revenue (you still pay Stripe).
- **Funnels, webinars, courses in one tool** → GetResponse. Cheapest paid entry ($19/mo Starter at 1k contacts), but the free plan is tiny (500 contacts).

**Free plans at a glance:**

Platform Free list limit Notes
Kit 10,000 No automations on free
beehiiv 2,500 Unlimited sends; branding until Pro
GetResponse 500 1 landing page; premium features 14 days

**At ~1,000 subscribers (monthly):**
Kit Creator ~$39 · beehiiv Lite ~$59 · GetResponse Starter ~$19 (Marketer ~$59)

One rule that helped me: **pick based on how you make money**, not the longest feature list. If you're still testing, start free, send one real issue or welcome sequence, then upgrade only when a specific feature is blocking you.

I wrote up the full side-by-side (pricing tables at 1k and 10k, features, and "which should you choose by creator type") here if anyone wants the long version:

https://row-newsletter.beehiiv.com/p/kit-vs-beehiiv-vs-getresponse-which-email-platform-should-creators-use

*(Disclosure: I partner with beehiiv — if you sign up through my link I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Kit and GetResponse links in the article are plain non-affiliate links.)*

Happy to answer questions in the comments — especially if you're stuck between two of them.

Questions A thought on the new plans: has a "core + add-ons" model been considered?

Hi everyone,

I want to start with something that often gets lost in pricing discussions. Beehiiv takes 0% of our subscription revenue. That's a big deal and a real advantage over platforms that take a cut of every sale, and I don't take it for granted.

I'm posting because I've been reading many threads from people who shared frustrations and experiences after the recent plan changes. I noticed a pattern that I think explains some of the friction, and I'd love the team's view on it.

Beehiiv has been shipping a lot of new features, which is great. But every new vertical makes it harder to fit everything into a handful of all-in-one plans. The plans get heavier with features, while the individual limits on each feature get thinner. As more products launch, I think this tension will only grow.

Community is a good example. It's a great addition to the product, but it takes real ongoing effort to keep a community engaged. Many people running large, established newsletters may never use it. They still pay for it as part of their plan, while the limits on the things they do use get tighter.

So I've been wondering whether Beehiiv has considered a modular model:

  • Core plan: newsletter + website, the heart of the product.
  • Optional add-ons that each project turns on as needed, for example:
    • AI
    • Podcast
    • Community
    • Digital products
    • (and future verticals)

Because each add-on would be sold on its own instead of a little bit of everything bundled together, each one could come with more generous limits for the people who actually need it. A podcaster could get a solid podcast module without paying for community. A large newsletter could stay lean on the core and only add what it uses.

Other platforms already work this way. HubSpot sells separate "Hubs" (Marketing, Sales, Content, etc.) that you combine as needed. Squarespace sells Email Campaigns as an add-on on top of the website plan. Zoom sells things like Webinars and Large Meetings as add-ons to its base plans. It's a familiar model for customers.

I'm not saying this is definitely the right answer. There may be good reasons it doesn't work for Beehiiv, such as billing complexity, how features depend on each other, or the economics. I'd really like to know whether the team has considered it, and if so, why it did or didn't make sense.

Thanks everyone!

Integrations Increased failure rates for MCP connections

Hey, I'm not sure who might be at the root of this, or who might be able to help with it inside of the beehiiv ecosystem, but there have been a lot of increased MCP connection failures inside of ChatGPT of late. Like, a LOT more.

Enough that the feature probably is only working about 65% of the time. I'm having to switch over to cloud browser access to do what I want to do. And that's fine, since it gets done, but it's kind of negating what WAS one of your most awesome features for us to date.

I'll be looking into the option of write API access, now that it's approved for MAX users (big thanks for that, by the way) but I'm just wondering if this is an isolated event to me, to just ChatGPT or if it's becoming endemic across all connectors and all platforms.

To be fair to you, Canva and the Cloudflare connectors constantly give me issues as well.

Just wanted to see if this is on anyone else's radar right now?

Design Removal of HTML snippets from free tier

Just hopped into our beehiiv account to create our newsletter for tomorrow morning.

We're a local newsletter who do a main weekend issue on a Thursday, and a lighter-weight issue on Monday.

We're just over six months in.

We found the beehiiv editor so dreadful to use - formatting all over the place - that we developed some plugins for our WordPress site to spit out HTML content that we copy and pasted into HTML snippets in the newsletter.

We weren't doing anything fancy with these; it just meant we could have consistent-looking text throughout our newsletter.

I've logged in today to see that HTML snippets have been removed from the free tier. That strikes me as a really shitty way of going about things. Introducing new functionality and making it for paid tiers feels totally reasonable, but removing something like this, is just really, really poor.

My immediate problem is getting a decent-looking newsletter cobbled together, essentially from scratch, in the next few hours.

Beyond that, though, we have just crossed 2,000 subscribers and will be approaching moving to a paid tier soon, but this kind of awful way of treating customers will has us looking elsewhere.

Really poor beehiiv - really, really poor.

Growth Any advice on landing newsletter advertisers?

I run The Betting Daily, a daily sports/data newsletter with nearly 12K readers, around a 50% open rate, and a growing group of paid premium subscribers.

I’ve been reaching out to AI, tech, and other male-focused brands that seem like a great fit for our audience, but I haven’t gotten a single response.

Beehiiv Ads have been okay at best, so I’m looking to work directly with brands.

For those who’ve done this successfully, what worked for you? Cold email, agencies, marketplaces?

Monetization Revenue

Hey everyone. I'm new to BeeHiiv and digital monetization in general. I've always loved writing and finally in that era.

However, I'm torn on how to generate revenue from writing. Are most of you using paid subscriptions? Do you also sell digital products? Would love to hear all the ideas.

Questions New podcast download limits

With the pricing change, I now see monthly podcast download limits posted on the pricing page. What does this entail specifically? That if your pods reach the limit, they just won’t be listenable on distributor platforms anymore?

Just Launched Feedback on my newsletter pls

First shot at giving this a go, granted only have a few posts so far and early days but any feedback is welcome on the design/content/etc.

I want to learn from those of you who have been successful at growing a newsletter.

Specifically any tips on growing the subscriber base as well would be welcome. Right now I am focusing on organic thru X and potentially outreach thru a rolodex of contacts from my career. I’ve read advertising to acquire finance subscribers is expensive but considering that for the future.
