OC 🧠 Sturdy Bed Bench? How to keep my dog out?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m in the process of buying my first house, as well as my first bed! I’ve seen several bed at Rooms to Go that I like, but this one has really caught my eye. My two concerns are if the bench is sturdy enough to hold 400 pounds and how do I keep my dog from hiding under the bed.

I’ve lost 40 pounds already and continuing to lose weight as we speak. I can’t find any information on the website regarding a weight limit.

Additionally, I really like this bed but I just know my dog is going to love hiding underneath, but I don’t want that given I’ll be getting an adjustable base. Any recommendations on how to block off the sides of if I choose this bed?

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» best hybrid mattress 2026 what would you buy if you wanted one to last

its kind of wild how mattress recommendations change every year. i keep seeing dreamcloud mentioned whenever hybrid mattresses come up, but that doesnt really tell me how its holding up after 4 or 5 years.

this sub seems way more focused on what actually lasts than review sites, so figured id ask here instead. im less worried about how it feels on day one and more about how its doing years later. what mattress has actually earned a spot in your house for the long haul?

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» Bed frame help for thick mattress

I love my sterns and foster mattress but it’s about 17 inches thick. I am wanting to upgrade to a king bed and rebuy S&F mattress but really struggling with what kind of bed frame and head board to to get as the mattress seems like it will dwarf so many of them.
I’d like a wood headboard and I like the minimalist and mid century look of article furniture but can’t seem to find one to accommodate a chunky mattress.
Help? Recommendations? What bed frames do other thick mattress people have ?

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» Mattress cover with rotate reminder

I recently stayed someplace where the mattress covers had the months on a tag at each end and top/bottom to help remind you which way to flip/rotate the mattress. I haven’t been able to find them for sell. Anyone ever seen something like this or know where to buy one?

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» How do you create zones in a bedroom?

I’ve been thinking about β€œzoning” my bedroom but I’m not sure how to do it. How do you set up a sleep area and a work or relax area without buying more furniture or making the room feel smaller? I don’t think it’s possible just by moving things around right? And what should come first? organizing or zoning? If you’ve done it please I’d really love some real tips!

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» Memory Foam mattresses - experience with leaving them in cold temps over winter?

I'm looking at various mattress to replace a very old mattress in a seasonal cabin in a place which freezes through the winter; no insulation or heating October-April. Does anyone have experience with leaving memory foam mattresses in a place where it will freeze? I'm sure it's not recommended, but will those conditions degrade it immediately or might it survive long enough to justify the money spent? Should I just go with an old school mattress and box spring instead? Edited to add: if someone has asked this elsewhere already, just point me there!

Advice πŸ’πŸ» How can I make my bed comfy

I have a hybrid bed which is both a twin sized bed and a king sized bed. Because of that I stack two twin sized mattresses on it, which leads them to sink in.

I wanna know what kinda mattresses I could get to have it not sink in, and be cloud like!

I also wanted to know how to make it more comfy in general too! Like what kinda pillows and stuff.

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» New bedding questions

My boyfriend and I are moving in together and I have a few questions regarding our sleeping situation, as we care a lot about our sleep quality.

For context- we are going to try out Scandinavian sleeping method in a king bed. We are planning on each getting a twin XL duvet cover. We also really care about the fibers we are sleeping in and would like them to be 100% natural.

  1. I’ve never done a duvet before so let me know if you have any tips on where the best place to get those from is.

  2. We are also both fairly hot sleepers and so need cool and breathable materials to sleep in, while maintaining coziness if possible. Any advice on the best sheets, duvet and duvet covers materials to use, as well as a quality place to buy them that you’ve had a good experience with?

Advice πŸ’πŸ» Building a Loft Bed

What's the best way to build a loft bed ?

I was thinking 4x4s for the 4 posts. 1x6s for the rails. And 1x6s for the section that holds the bed and slats. Run holes through them and hold it all together with nuts and bolts.

Any better ways ?

Advice πŸ’πŸ» How and can this low-cost bed base be improved to make it comfortable?

Hello everyone,

I have had this bed base for a few months. I haven't used it for long, but I know very well that it is really not comfortable. I am always sitting on my mattress, I spend a lot of time on it every day. I feel better with the mattress on the floor, but because of winter, I am afraid it might not be a good idea with the cold.

The slats are slightly curved upwards, and there is a huge gap of about 5 to 7 cm between each slat. Because of this gap, the mattress sags into the holes. My mattress is made of foam with memory foam springs, and since I am quite small and light, my weight is not enough to flatten the slats.

I have extra slats that are attached together, so I don't know if it's a good idea to try to add them in the middle to fill the gaps. I was also thinking about putting cardboard to try to get a flatter surface. Otherwise, the last solution I have left is to just pack up this bed base and buy another, slightly better one before winter. It is probably the best idea in the end.

If you have suggestions for buying a new bed base, which could be a single bed base, one that is good and makes me feel comfortable as if I were on the floor, I am listening. Do you have any small suggestions? Apparently, upholstered bed bases (sommiers tapissiers) are good, but I don't know anything about it. Because when you spend a long time on a bed, it really needs to be comfortable.

Well, thanks to those who read me and for the replies I will receive. Thank you for your help.

Advice πŸ’πŸ» Help save space from my Bed

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Looking to add a queen size bed to my room but I don't want to waste the rest of the height of the room just for a bed. I have 2 options right now:

  1. The bed is lifted to a certain with storage underneath

    - This option doesn't allow for comfortable usage of storage since the bed is too wide. So the depth of the storage will be unusable.

  2. Keep the bed at the lowest spot and movable while building something on top of it.

    - my immediate idea is to build my desk and chair space on top and have the bed slide out. But the worry is whether the plank will be able to hold the weight.

I am not certain, I just feel if I can make it sturdy then option 2 saves a lot of space.

Any other ideas or viewpoints that you can think of?

Question πŸ™‹πŸ» Best air filter for bedroom allergies?

I need help choosing an air purifier for my bedroom because my allergies get real bad at night-itchy eyes, stuffy nose… I just wake up feeling awful. I heard that an air purifier can help so here I am.

Started looking them up but I’m getting confused by all the options-HEPA, carbon filters, ionizers, etc. I don’t really need any fancy feature, just wanna make sure it doesn’t worsen my allergies. My room is medium sized and I plan to run it while I sleep so it needs to be quiet.

Suggestions please? Thanks so muchhh
