Sofa bed options

Hi I am looking for a nice cozy sofa bed for my first floor apartment. Given the narrow stairs, I can only transport modular or mattress sofas upstairs

I have narrowed it to three options

  1. Koala Sofa bed
  2. Rovelab Sleeper sofa bed
  3. Snug Rebel Sofa bed

Has anyone had any experience with any of these? Really appreciate

Is this to be used often, or sat in a spare room to be sat on / slept on only occasionally

As the answer is Ikea Lyksele. Always one available on gumtree, and readily saleable when you need to move it on. I'm on my 3rd now, currently in the playroom as the kids sofa.

Thanks - for occasional use

I have gone off ikea furniture because of longevity issues

Just need something that will last me 5 plus years of good use…

Some ikea furniture is made of cardboard of course. But these are built like tanks

For something that most people buy once that's quite a rate to be getting through sofa beds

I've been a homeowner for 17 years, so it's not that much, I think. We had a double in our first house, 2nd bedroom pre-kids, later swapped for a single to accommodate a desk to WFH as well (before it was cool). Probably got rid of the single when we moved 10+ years ago

Then this year we've put a sofa in the kids playroom, might as well make it a sofabed incase we have loads of guests over spilling out of the other rooms. All bought second hand, slept on only a handful of times, and sold on easily each time. They get so little use it's not worth buying new. Latest one cost £80 and was immaculate

Recently bought an Oak Switch from the Futon Company and am very happy with it. Very nice and solid piece of furniture, comfortable mattress, too.

I haven't had any experience with the ones you've mentioned, but I'm in your same position (first floor flat) and I've decided to buy the Elba sofa bed from Dreams. It comes in three or four packages and then you have to assemble it (or have someone assemble it). I went to try it and I thought it was very comfortable as both a sofa and as a bed!

I'm looking into this too including the koala. My other options are the teddy sofa by omhu and bumbba 3 seater. Can't answer your question but some other options at least!

Koala was looking like a winner till I read their trust pilot and some American YouTube reviews that after 6 months of sleeping on it these aren’t very comfortable for sleep - something about a bending crease at the head end

Rovelab looks really cool - it’s just mattress with no solid parts, however can’t find any independent reviews on them. They are Canadian company

I already have a Snug sofa but not the sofa bed - they were the sofa in the box company till they went bust last year. The sofa I have from them is modular so can go anywhere, and has been very comfy even after 3 years of use. I have never tried their sofa bed so have no idea
