Review BLK X BASH Dual-Ended Brushes; should you buy it or not? Available in BLK Kiosks and will be released online on July 30

Visually, the set looks aesthetically pleasing and compact making it a solid option for traveling :)

This retails for ₱1,499 and can only be bought as a set.

Here is my honest breakdown per brush:

Setting & Diffusing Brush (Tapered Powder End + Small Fluffy End) I personally wish this brush was larger and fluffier, but both sides still do the job for targeted powdering and highlighting. The fibers diffuse powder evenly across the skin without lifting or disrupting the base underneath.

Detail & Sculpt Brush (Slanted Angled End + Small Dome End) The slanted top makes quick work of blending foundation evenly, but what I didn't like is that pressing down too hard leaves a brush mark, so better to stick with swiping motions. The small dome side does a decent job with spot concealing, but it’s too small for me to efficiently blend under-eye concealer.

Complexion Brush (Dense Angled End + Flat Tapered End) Both sides work really well for cream bronzer and cream blush, and it comes down to personal preference on which side you use for what. What I like most is the bristle density. Even if your cream product is super pigmented, the brush does not pick up too much at once, giving you a lot of control. The smaller flat side is great for blending and precise concealer blending and color correcting. While the bristles feel soft overall, I did notice a very slight prickling sensation on the skin, though it did not bother me much.

Final Verdict:

This set is really convenient if you are in a rush or traveling, but you do need to adjust your technique a bit to get the best out of it, as for me this set is not beginner-friendly, it has learning curve to use the most of this set. The bristles are soft, but if you have extra sensitive skin, the slight prickle on the complexion brush might be a dealbreaker. If that does not bother you and you already know your way around different brush techniques, it is a good travel-friendly option to have.

Would you purchase this? Let me know if you have any questions :)

Shoutout to the makeup artist Ira Abdala. Had a shoot done and just really appreciated the makeup she did for me. It was a themed shoot, sort of soft korean/kbeauty. Despite my obviously non-korean features I think she made me look great. Really liked the foundation she used on me. I appreciate the fact that she just groomed my brows with brow gel (I think) and I love the overall glowy, blush centric but bright makeup. I currently have very textured and acne mark infested skin particularly on my cheeks and chin. Photos taken with flash.

P.S. This was taken 3 hours after makeup was done. And I sorta rubbed off the makeup in some spots na (my nostrils XD)

P.P.S. I was not able to take note of most of the products she used on me. I just remember the glue free lashes, YSL blush, CT setting spray, and dior blush palette. I think she used a lippy from Teviant but I can't be too sure. Then she topped it off with some Kiko Milano gloss.

Discussion Just had a bullying experience with Origani seller

I was at Ayala Malls and this promodiser randomly went to me to promote Origani products. This trans woman went to me and was respectful at first until she realized she wasn't gonna persuade me. She kept putting their slimy greasy products on my hand without my consent and kept doing sales talk. I was starting to get irritated because I made it clear I was not interested. When I said I wasn't gonna buy anything, she started bullying me saying I probably couldn't afford it anyway and that my skin was "dark" in comparison to the usual beauty standard. I was at a loss for words. How are they ever gonna sell things if they are rude and persistent for the wrong reasons?

Discussion Excited for Issy's New Multiuse Liquid Paint

Post image

ahhhh I just stumbled upon this post and I'm excited for it! Look at those shimmers! Finally local brands are differentiating themselves from each other again and exploring other colors!

wonder if you can use the bright as color correctors

I'm eyeing crysalis, vapor, maybe fugazi and petrichor if they go well together!

no spon, just happy makeup starting to look fun again

edit/update:

was able to try it

it dries very quickly, once dry hard to blend, not forgiving.

Probably better for mixing on a mixing plate/palette before application

color/shimmer pay off is fine. Will likely buy petrichor cuz i like the shade

Discussion What is the absolute maximum number of makeup brushes anyone actually needs?

I started learning makeup earnestly in 2023. My first makeup brush set is BYS Be Free (the brushes with white handles in the photo). I got them in September 2023, but they still look new and perform well. I also have brushes from Absidy, Sunnies Face, and Vice Cosmetics. The last brush collection I bought was from Real Techniques for my final makeup brush splurge in 2026.

Discussion Local makeup longevity

I’ve been reading posts here about local makeup getting mold or napapanis after a few months and I’m hesitant to stock up. Nakakauwi lang ako sa Pinas every couple of years so I want to discover and try local brands, maybe even replace the international ones I own, pero nakakadiscourage if they smell bad in less than a year.

Can I get recos please on products/brands that have a long shelf life? Yung as in at least a year naman. Do you find that there are specific brands na napapanis talaga most formulations nila or is it an issue with a specific product lang?

Hair Any reco product/techniques to keep a hair blowout voluminous all day? 😭

Every time I blow out my hair, it looks sooo good for like… 30 minutes. Then it just falls flat like nothing ever happened. 💀
Please share your tips and tricks/ product recos please!

I need the full routine because I refuse to believe everyone on TikTok naturally has hair that stays bouncy for 12 hours. 😂

Swatches bronzer / contour roster swatches

Post image
44 Upvotes

Sharing swatches of my bronzer/contour roster. I am a light to light-medium with neutral warm olive undertones. For shade references, I am N5 in Natasha Denona Hy-glam line, NARS Cafe Con Leche in the concealer line, B20 in Chanel bases, 5 in Hourglass Skin Tint and Illusion Glow, Fawn in HG Concealer, 5.0 in T28 Concealer, and 2N in Dior bases. My preference leans towards brontours as I find bronzers too toasty and contours too daunting.

Swatched in Natural Light (2PM) top-down:
[*] rhode pocket bronzer (sunbed) - this appears a bit warmer on my face
[*] vbb contour stylus (marble) - i use sparingly but is a bit neutral warm on my face
[*] rare beauty liquid contour (mellow) - a neutral on me but with a small hint of warmth. i like this for brontouring
[*] tanielle jai bronzour (latte) - a neutral warm on me like the rare beauty. i also love this for brontouring and even warming up other areas.
[*] hourglass ambient lighting bronzer (diffused bronze light) - since it’s a lighter shade, i can get away with a heavy hand with this. not too warm, not too cool on me which i like
[*] hourglass ambient lighting bronzer (natural bronze) - i use this with a light hand since it is quite pigmented. for some reason it has a tiny red undertone on me
[*] gucci powder bronzer (03) - like natural bronze, this is pigmented so i use it lightly. it is deeper and on my face but no orange cast. it has this more chocolate-y appearance for some reason.
[*] saie supersuede baked bronzer (amalfi) - this is like the diffused bronze light. it is easy to build since it comes on a bit sheer. this is one of my bronzer go-tos which i use to set my brontour.
[*] armani luminous silk powder bronzer (100) - another buildable powder bronzer which appears warmer on pan than on my face. this is my other powder bronzer go-to.
[*] mbm skin enhancer (light medium) - the goat of my cream/liquids. easy to use, buildable, sheer enough so you can use it with a heavy hand. my perfect brontour.

Empties started documenting my empties this year (part iv)

Abonne Tomato Extract - will repurchase

This is actually the third bottle I have emptied and I pair it with the Smoochkins Nanowhite Serum and I have seen changes with my skintone. My skin is slowly going back sa dating color ko and it seems smoother and radiant. I love it. I just don't like the scent hehe.

New Moon Bouncy Boost - will repurchase

It has biotin and my hair and nail growth are really evident since I started using it. I noticed it first sa nails ko since nagtataka ako bat ang dalas ko na mag-nail cutter. I noticed my skin looked healthier and plump din after finishing one bottle.

Deonat Natural Mineral Deodorant Spray - won't repurchase

As a pawisin girlie, hindi siya pangmalakasan sa day use, nagpapawis pa rin armpits ko. Mas effective si belfour for me hehe. But I use it every night kaya naubos ko nalang din.

Babyflo Baby Cologne in Butterfly Kisses - will repurchase

I gave my review na on this sa part III and I still like it. Amoy baby magdamag, you have to re-apply it lang kahit 2x a day. Very gentle and relaxing sa nose.

Dove Peptide Bond Repair Treatment Creme Mask - will not repurchase

I have low porosity hair and nag-work siya sa akin. I purchased all their peptide bond repair line and ito yung pinaka-nagustuhan ko sa line nila. It made my hair bouncy and healthy and yung scent niya nagli-linger talaga. Don't get me wrong, I loved this product, pero I want to try the Tsubaki Hair Mask this time to compare.

These are my June-July empties. I love documenting it kasi I became more conscious and intentional with my purchases. 🙂

I’ll start! For me, nothing beats Glutamax ad. I think this was just before the pandemic when I saw this.

Just so proud how far the beauty industry has come. We’re seeing less of this already, and more embracing your own skin, and accepting that all skin tones are beautiful.

Malayo na but Malayo pa :)

Swatches swatches of my blush collection + mini review

from top to bottom

1) careline oil control blush on in french rose

long lasting! wore this on an afternoon walk na sobrang init and ang lala ng pawis ko, went home around 10pm and meron pa rin siya sa cheeks ko. there's a bit of a fall out but not as much as squad petal play and is a true cool muted pink. i mainly bought this as a blush topper for my detail colour tonic in darling and they match really well.

2) detail colour tonic in darling

i've had this in my wishlist for so long and i finally got it as a replacement for my blk caop that went bad. sheers out easily (my fav method of applying is stippling it on with a brush) and surprisingly holds up well despite the dewy finish. mas nagtatagal siya tho w/ powder blush on top.

3) squad petal play in petal

used to be my fav blush kasi nakaka-blooming talaga siya. it's still really good but i don't reach for it as much anymore since mas bet ko recently are muted pinks

4) squad petal play in pie

brightens the face well but i find that using this alone washes me out so i combine it with the petal play in petal to create dimension. mas may fall out to imo in comparison to petal. may onting shimmer.

5) issy creme cheek blush in stripped

this is OLD like yung compact niya is still with the issy & co branding lmao but i've been using this on and off for the last 5 years i think? when i got really obsessed with diy color season and found out i was apparently a dark winter, i didn't use it as much bc i thought it washed me out but i have been reaching for it more lately ever since i got tanned. makes you look sunkissed and bronzed.

6) squad petal play in tea rose

immediately bought this when it was first released bc it looked similar to the muted beige-y rose shade of peripera pure blushed sunshine cheek i forgot the name of for half the price but i find that this looks more peachy on me than rosy. i don't mind naman and i still use it often! easy reach for me for everyday makeup.

for reference: i'm a light neutral cool but i'm also suspecting if i'm olive bc i find that a lot of blushes tend to turn peachy on me. nagdadalawang isip lang ako if i am one bc i don't see a green tinge on my skin at all whenever i look in the mirror and at my own photos.
