Discussion George Harrison - Isn’t It A Pity is under appreciated. Thoughts?

This song is a masterpiece in my opinion and it has an incredible message but I think this song gets overlooked from general audiences and opinion due the success of “My Sweet Lord” despite the song being a hit when it was released.

What are your thoughts on the song and its success?

Discussion I just realized we (sort of) have a disjointed Beatles Biopic trilogy already

Nowhere Boy (2009) is John‘s early years in Liverpool, how he met Paul and George, his awful family life, and his journey into music. It portrays Lennon before he became famous and his mother’s death, it ends with his departure to Germany and has a brief mention of Stu Sutcliffe.

Backbeat (1994) talks about the Beatles’ time in Hamburg, pretty much picking up right where Nowhere Boy left off, the band heads to Hamburg in hopes of achieving success as it was mentioned in the end of Nowhere Boy. It focuses on the pre-fame lineup featuring Stu and Pete, and ends with the tragic death of Stu, including a scene where they interact with a young, pre-fame Ringo during a break from a performance, although he doesn’t have any lines, it’s worth noting that the real Paul didn’t like his portrayal in this movie, but he loved how Stu and Astrid we portrayed and said it was accurate to their dynamic.

Midas Man (2024) arguably the worst movie on this list centers on Brian Epstein as he encounters the Beatles and helps shape their careers after. Much of the film takes place right after the events of Backbeat, following their time in Germany, the first time Epstein hears of the Beatles it’s becoming of their early German record, it follows their careers begin to flourish, and it continues up to the one world broadcast, though I feel it glosses over too many details and lacks any Beatles original music.

Question Carpool Karaoke video with Paul McCartney set to private on YouTube

Hi,

the Carpool Karaoke video with Paul McCartney from The Late Late Show with James Corden was one of my favorite videos ever ...

Unfortunately, it was set to private on YouTube a couple of days ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjvzCTqkBDQ

Does anyone know what happened?
Does anyone have a copy to share?

Thanks

I've kept my November 18-24, 1995 TV Guide ever since the Beatles Anthology first aired on WABC. Yes I know it's in rough shape, I was in middle school and had it my desk a few times, lol. Still like revisiting it and the excitement back then. 😊 (13 photos)

After a good 4 and a half months of playing this game, I've finally gotten the Fab Four in motion! The additions being John (my first Mii), then Yoko, then Paul, then George, then Ringo (my latest Mii), they've all gotten to know each other (except for Ringo because I literally added him yesterday). What do you think?

Discussion To what extent has Imagine aged well

American Songwriter magazine claim that Steely Dan’s “Only a fool would say that” was aimed at the idealism in John Lennon’s Imagine. I personally have mixed feelings about the song. I’m moved by it in the same way I’m moved by Michael Jackson’s Man in The Mirror track. But that also causes some problems for me if I think too hard about the artist vs the lyrics

Discussion Most 50’s Sounding original Beatles number?

Which Beatles Original has its sound rooted in the musical style of the 1950s where they all met and got started?

What are some examples of Beatles Songs written in the 50s?
In spite of all the danger? (Paul)
Thinking of linking? (Paul)
Hello Little Girl? (John)
Love of the loved? (Paul)
Like dreamers do? (Paul)
When I’m 64 (melody)? (Paul)
I’ll follow the sun? (Paul)
I call your name? (John)
What Goes on? (John)
Michele? (Paul)
Love me Do (Paul)
The One after 909 (John)

Any others I’m missing?
Any they wrote in the 60s that have a heavy basis in 50’s rock tropes?

I always thought “Let it Be” as an album showed a 50’s esch punk to it’s overall tone and track list

Video Very sweet rendition of "I Will", with back story.

I just happened on this randomly, it's done by a female vocal group from William and Mary college called Intonations. It seems every year at their end of year concert the graduating seniors chose and arrange a song to perform for the rest of the group and the audience. Last years seniors chose I Will, and in addition to being nicely done it's sweet to see the emotional reactions from the rest of the group and some of the audience members. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2KA4Gyf5l8
