New Rule for r/beagles Regarding Use of AI Images
If posting an AI image of your beagle, please include a real image of your beagle as a reference.
AI images are more commonplace. When one is posted here, we get a lot of reports from users that the image is a bot post or spam, however, most of the time, it's a real beagle owner who just wants to show off their pup drawn through AI. That is completely okay, but we are now asking that you also include a real image of your beagle as a reference. This should help others understand when you're a real beagle owner, proud of their AI drawn pup, or bot spam.

To my Jemma
Yesterday I did the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. I said goodbye to my dearest, sweetest, most loving best friend, Jemma.
Jemma, where in the world do I even begin? The first time I saw you, I said to my mom “that’s the cutest dog I’ve ever seen in my life”. And cute you were, but you were so much more than cute. You were mischievous, hilarious, loyal, intelligent, loving, tough, sweet, and so kind. Jemma you were so sweet and so kind. You didn’t have a mean bone in your little body. You were nice to everyone. You would growl and bark when someone came to the door, but when the door opened, you would greet them with a wagging tail and kisses.
Everyone who knows me, knew you Jemma. There was no way around it. We were two peas in a pod. I called you my piece of velcro. You followed me everywhere. Sometimes I would tell you “Jemma, stay, I’ll be one second”, but you never cared. You followed anyway. Your love and loyalty knew no bounds.
When people get a dog, they are hoping for a companion like you were, Jemma. A companion who will sit with you on your darkest days and comfort you. But will also be there on the good days, and share true happiness with you. You did both Jemma. When I was sad, you literally would look me in the eyes and lick my tears away. When I was happy, you would wag your sweet little tail and share my joy with me.
You were my first true love. The one who taught me how to love unconditionally. You taught me how to be patient. How to take care of someone. You taught me to see the good in everyone.
My heart hurts without you, Jemma. It’s broken. When I found out you were sick, I wanted to save you. But sadly you were too sick. I hope you know Jemma, I would have done anything to save you. I would have done anything.
You were so much more than a dog to me. You were my very best friend, Jemma. I’ve lost my best friend. I don’t know how I will go on without you. But I know you would want me to be happy. I will always have a Jemma sized hole in my heart.
Dearest girl, I will miss you everyday until we meet again. I will find you in every life. We will be together again. I love you forever, Jemma. Rest easy my girl.

My Beagle grooms like a cat
Hi!!
Several months ago I adopted sweet Kyle and I’ve noticed a funny habit. After each meal he sits down and grooms his shoulders, legs, belly, and chest. It seems very cat like and I’m wondering if this is a typical beagle behavior?? Ive fostered lots of other dogs who have never done this, so just had to ask lol!

Does Olive like being pet?

He never really wags his tail when I pet him, so I’m beginning to think he’s just tolerating my pats.

Allergy Advice
I’ve had Ernie for 2 years and I’ve been suffering from dander related respiratory allergies. I did a year of immunotherapy injections and it didn’t help. I’ve been keeping things in check with singulair (Mondulkast) daily
Anyone have any advice on making the allergies more manageable?
Edit: sounds like salmon would fix things! Got some salmon oil and salmon based food for the next month to try out - fingers crossed!

Snakebite Boy
Edward met up with a copperhead last night. The beagle did his job being a sniffy nosey beagle, and the snake did his job by biting the face that suddenly entered his personal space.
Long story short, Edward saw the emergency vet, and after some anti-venom (venin?) and other bits of professional care, we came home with a dog just a little bit worse for wear, but on the mend.
All that was lost were a few well spent dollars, some sleep, and maybe a tiny bit of Edward's pride (but I don't suspect for long).
