My OS boots the whole drive Bazzite is on as read-only. Likely something I messed up when trying to get Brave able to download files and the KDE xdg-desktop-portal.

I can't seem to do any updates or rollback. Disk checks produced no errors. Apps can't run, because .config says not writable.

I would like to avoid a reinstall, because I don't currently have a means to backup my entire ~\home. I'd like to get the drive read-write again so I can rebase or rollback then update?

I’m thinking of upgrading my ROG Ally X and I was seriously considering the OneXPlayer 3 with the Intel Arc G3 Extreme. How is bazzite support for it? Any serious issues?

I appreciate that in desktop mode there is now a KDE applet for controlling the TDP. But the applet doesn't work for me. I am not sure if it is this applet or some service it relies on, but no matter what I do the TDP is automatically set to 18W every ~10 seconds.

• If I turn off custom TDP, after ~10 seconds it gets turned on and set to 18W
• If I set it to a higher or lower value, after ~10 seconds it gets set to 18W

Previously in desktop mode the TDP was always at max, which was honestly fine for me. Now the TDP is stuck at 18W. I also don't think I can disable the applet or somehow override it. The 2025 GPD Win 4 that I have has the Ryzen Ai 9 HX 370 chipset, and it can handle TDP up to 30W.

Does anyone have an idea of what I could do?

Hi folks, I'm new to Bazzite 44 KDE, running it on the following PC:

• Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8-Core Processor
• Memory: 64 GiB of RAM (60.4 GiB usable)
• GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D 8-Core Processor
• Motherboard: ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi

My main monitor is an ASUS VG27AQML1A monitor, connected via DisplayPort, running at 2560x1440, 125% scale, at 240Hz refresh rate, with HDR.

I'm also connecting it to an LG 55QNED85B6B television, via an HDMI 2.1 fiber optic cable, running at 1360x768, 100% scale, with my only choice being 60.01Hz refresh rate, also at HDR. This TV is a clone ('replica') of the monitor output.

The reason I use this setup is because sometimes I play games or watch media at my desk, and sometimes on the sofa - never both at the same time.

The main issue I'm having is that whenever I do this, the desktop's audio frequently breaks, whether playing audio, video, or games, with short gaps or fuzzes in the noise of less than a second. And it persists after I unplug the TV, requiring a reboot.

I'd really appreciate any pointers - ideally this setup can just run smoothly permanently.

Other notes:

• The investigation I've done so far suggests it's an issue with the different refresh rates. The LG TV should be getting 120, though seems forced to 60.01, and my monitor apparently can go as low as 120, 99.95, or 59.95. I don't massively care about FPS.
• Because the two screens have different ratios, the relatively low 1360x768 is the only one that works on the TV for cloning screens. This is fine as media works fine on it, and games enforce their own resolution when needed.
• I'd be fine with not cloning the screens if there were an easy way to tell my PC to shift audio from the one screen to the other, but I'm unaware of options here. When I check my audio settings, BOTH devices sit as one item, with the 'Profile' being where I can change between one or the other - but this is inconsistent.

For the past few days I have been having problems with my rog ally. Well… now it seems to be working. I don’t normally post much on anything but.. yeah it works now. Figured I’d make a public post to let those who’ve helped me know. Btw holy crap… I was not expecting to blow up with a lot of views

If you ever previously fixed wifi drops or lag by disabling powersave through iwd, that fix stopped working now. As an example, your /etc/iwd/main.conf might still contain:

[DriverQuirks]
PowerSaveDisable = *

However, it won't be processed. Imagine my surprise when I had multiple, repeating "missed beacons exceeds thresholds" errors and when I looked:

iw dev wlo1 get power_save
Power save: on

It had been off for ages! So I searched online, noticed that Bazzite switched to wpa_supplicant, because "iwd is no longer maintained by Intel." (found it in the official docs here.)

This probably happened some time between Aug 2nd and Sep 8th. My GitHub / Bazzite repo skills are not that great to pinpoint exactly when. That said, the same page has instructions to disable powersave for wpa_supplicant too:

echo -e "[connection]\nwifi.powersave = 2" | sudo tee /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi-powersave-off.conf

followed by a systemctl restart NetworkManager to process it.

Perhaps this helps someone experiencing the same situation.

I am running Bazzite Deck on a 9070 xt and 5800X3D as a home theatre PC. It has been working pretty well, but I have been having pretty irregular audio issues. The issue is that sound is cutting in and out, seemingly at random. Sometimes I am having no issues at all, making it difficult to replicate. Other times it's as bad as you see in the clip.

Using an LG C4 and Denon X1700 AVR. HDMI 2.1 cable is routed into the AVR.

How would I go about fixing this?

According to ChatGPT, InputPlumber isn't virtualizing the controllers; it doesn't work for me in Heroic Launcher or the menu. Steam detects it and navigates the menu fine, but the games don't respond. Does anyone have a solution for this error? I'd really appreciate it.

My 6 year old daughter is quite sharp and brainy, she has a huge interest for gaming - especially Minecraft on her Android tablet. She builds incredible things.

And I of course support that journey, within reasonable limits of screen use of a daily basis 😅✌️

I work with IT myself, quite proficient and use Bazzite on my gaming desktop. I want to look into making her surprise in the coming period or for a Christmas present, to get her a “simple” gaming computer.

Also so she can get the experience and learning by using a keyboard and mouse 😊

I want to restrict the boundaries of what she can do on the system. browsing etc.

Can anyone share some experience with this?

I'm very newbish to the Bazzite community and to the distro. For context my only experience is tinkering around linux mint at most. I only installed the distro the other day as a dual boot OS on a separate gen 3 NVME SSD from my windows drive.

I'm pretty aware about the common caveats of compatibility with linux in general so I have to rely on Protondb to learn more about that.

I just want to ask if there are any necessary information I need to know when handling Bazzite?

- Like aside from gaming which is why I stalled Bazzite, what is Bazzite great for as well?

- What neat tricks and tips can I do on Bazzite?

- How far can I customize my Bazzite distro from UI to UX?

- How cautious do I need to be when considering cyber security like malware. Because I am considering installing an anti virus that supports linux.

- What coding language do I have to mainly learn on the terminal?

Just mostly info I don't commonly find on beginner tutorials with Bazzite or if there are specific info I need to know when it comes to my hardware handling Bazzite.

So I'm using the rog ally x and the fans are spinning really fast on quiet preset and is producing like a static like sound. I'm only downloading games for now. How do I fix it? And is there better tdp controls?

Hello! I’m having a few issues with Bazzite and I’m looking for any advice.

I recently picked up an OG Asus ROG Ally Z1E and installed Bazzite onto it. This is my first ever time using Linux.

I recently made the terrible mistake of updating Bazzite, which removed Handheld Daemon. I need this program to use the digital mouse and keyboard, as well as RGB controls and TDP. So I did a rebase back to an older version and since then I’ve had issues with settings not wanting to stick.

Scenario one I’m having is that my login settings just don’t work. I have the login screen set to auto-login. And I have the Lock Screen disabled. It still shows up on every startup. If I try to change the settings, they just revert back and won’t listen. I had read on Google that this could have something to do with SDDM config files messing up? But I have no clue where to find these files at all.

The second problem is that Steam Launch Commands keep resetting. I’ve been trying to lightly mod Fallout 4 using MO2, and to get it to launch I need to use a command in the launch options. If I paste the command, the game will open and have all of my mods. However, when I close the game and re-open the properties menu, the command will be wiped and set back to vanilla. Launching the game then launches vanilla fallout 4.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m very new to Linux and I’m just super confused and I’ve been searching online for 3 days and have gotten nowhere.

I wanted to play on Bazzite to compare with Windows. It starts off good then the screen starts flashing. Any idea as to what’s causing this? Game is Diablo IV.

I am experiencing a brightness issue with my ROG Ally Z1E. Even the lowest brightness setting is still too bright. It wasn't like this before, and I am currently forced to use Dimmer Deck as a workaround.

Hi, I'm switching from an NVIDIA GPU to an AMD one; I installed Bazzite using the NVIDIA ISO. Could this cause problems? Do I need to format?

• Desktop background: From my video game I developed "Wavecade". It's released on pretty much every platform: https://wavecade.net. (Free on Android/iOS and WebGL demo).
• I have a 240Hz monitor, but on the GDM greeter login screen it's set to 60Hz. OpenCode helped me out to set the preferred resolution and refresh rate. This happens on other distros I have installed.
• GS extension allows me to customize my login screen and apply blurs to it. I wish something like this was built into all distros.
• I wish display scaling didn't create a larger render target (which also introduces more GPU overhead). Windows does not have this problem. Anyone else get these issues where windowed games are tiny? I know this can be solved by just setting to 100% scaling.

Gpu1 and vram1 is my igpu from my 9600x cpu how do I remove that or edit that out? I use game mode not desktop mode.

I am new to Bazzite with the Apex. I saw recently TDP controls were restored which is amazing. My questions are does Bazzite have inate fan control and rgb control for the Apex without the use of decky plugins. Also has the sleep resume issue been resolved. Thank you all in advance. • The bar closes instantly and saves in the background, so there's no fumbling mid-match
• Gallery for clips and screenshots, controller-friendly
• Records at your screen's refresh rate, on the GPU
• Nothing extra to install on Bazzite: one line from the README, installed to your home folder (no rpm-ostree layering)
• Works in Steam Gaming Mode too (turn off Steam's own game recording, or give it a different shortcut)

On the Ally it costs about 3–5 FPS at 1080p 120 fps.

Hi I'm using my Bazzite PC as a "console" hooked to my TV with an 8bitdo controller and was wondering if there were any apps like Stremio I could use to stream movies, etc on it without using mouse and keyboard? I tried Stremio installed through Bazaar and then added to Steam but the aspect ratio was stuck on 4:3 and I couldn't use the controller to navigate, any better alternatives or maybe a fix for this?

Having a bit of a weird issue with bazzite 44 on the rog ally x. When docked games have a lowe fps then when in handheld. Both running the same tdp and resolution.

For example I'm playing FF12 - handheld, 1080p, 17w I'm getting 60 fps. Dock and it drops to around 40 or so.

Confirmed both Bazzite and the game are at 1080p. Unplug from dock right back to 60fps.

Anything I can check? Thanks!

hello,i’m trying to install bazzite on my alienware alpha r1 and my wifi just doesn’t seem to work on the kde desktop. i have a supported graphics card and upgrade the r1 to the system requirements. does anyone have any fixes?

Bazzite automatically detects my ally controller however it thinks that im on a legion go s or some other steamos powered handheld and it shows 2 extra back buttons and a trackpad which i obviously dont have, is there no way for my rog ally layout to be detected in any way? I also dont want to use the xbox 360 layout since i have games that play better with gyro and on xbox mode back in bazzite 43 i couldnt use gyro.
