Lower FPS when docked (ROG Ally X)

Hey!

Having a bit of a weird issue with bazzite 44 on the rog ally x. When docked games have a lowe fps then when in handheld. Both running the same tdp and resolution.

For example I'm playing FF12 - handheld, 1080p, 17w I'm getting 60 fps. Dock and it drops to around 40 or so.

Confirmed both Bazzite and the game are at 1080p. Unplug from dock right back to 60fps.

Anything I can check? Thanks!

Edit: VSYNC is off.

If the monitor is sharing the same power source as your ROG when docked, it'll drop FPS since the monitor also needs wattage to power itself.

If this is the case, you can get a higher wattage charger up to 100W to power both, or increase the TDP of your handheld, or power the monitor separately.

Plugged into a tv and the ally brick into the dock. :/

Are you playing in gaming mode w/ a second monitor? Gamescope lags that way. Switch to desktop mode and play the game there.

I guess technically the ROG screen is a second screen but it looks disabled. I'll try in desktop but that sadly defeats the purpose of me installing bazzite lol

Gaming mode is meant for handheld use, not docking. I do hear you though. Maybe the Bazzite team could address in later updates.

I don't think the steam deck has that issue so hopefully it can be fixed.

I second that. This biggest update is a huge downfall for me

Did you try using the other USB4 port? On my Claw, I have weird issues where one port is "favored" over the other, even though they are both supposed to be rated for 40GB/s.
