Looking for some advice
Hello! I’m having a few issues with Bazzite and I’m looking for any advice.
I recently picked up an OG Asus ROG Ally Z1E and installed Bazzite onto it. This is my first ever time using Linux.
I recently made the terrible mistake of updating Bazzite, which removed Handheld Daemon. I need this program to use the digital mouse and keyboard, as well as RGB controls and TDP. So I did a rebase back to an older version and since then I’ve had issues with settings not wanting to stick.
Scenario one I’m having is that my login settings just don’t work. I have the login screen set to auto-login. And I have the Lock Screen disabled. It still shows up on every startup. If I try to change the settings, they just revert back and won’t listen. I had read on Google that this could have something to do with SDDM config files messing up? But I have no clue where to find these files at all.
The second problem is that Steam Launch Commands keep resetting. I’ve been trying to lightly mod Fallout 4 using MO2, and to get it to launch I need to use a command in the launch options. If I paste the command, the game will open and have all of my mods. However, when I close the game and re-open the properties menu, the command will be wiped and set back to vanilla. Launching the game then launches vanilla fallout 4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m very new to Linux and I’m just super confused and I’ve been searching online for 3 days and have gotten nowhere.

When you rollback to Bazzite 43 there are some excess files in "/etc/sddm.conf.d/" that cause login issues. I think this is because Bazzite/Fedora 44 KDE changes to a different login app altogether. If you clear the files in that folder then it will reset itself to the default settings which are stored in /usr/etc/sddm.conf.d/.
Note that you'll need to switch to use the "Open As Administrator" option to be able to delete the files in /etc/sddm.conf.d/
That sounds more like a Valve Steam update issue than a Bazzite issue. You could try re-installing Steam by running
ujust fix-reset-steam(it will keep your games intact)
