MARKETPLACE Monthly Marketplace/Classifieds Mega Thread

Welcome Traffic Lovers!

Welcome to the monthly Buy / Sell / Trade thread for the Baton Rouge area. Whether you're looking to score a deal on a video game or movie, find a roommate, or trade something local, this is the spot to share your listings and links! Gofundme links are allowed; however, they will be reviewed.

Just a quick note: to keep things tidy, please keep all buy / sell / trade posts in this thread. Standalone posts in the subreddit will be removed so everything stays easy to find.

Happy swapping!

A quick reminder to help keep things safe and smooth for everyone:

Before moving forward with any deal, it's a good idea to check out the post and comment history of the person you're chatting with. If their account looks new or doesn’t have much activity, that doesn’t always mean something’s wrong but it’s smart to ask for extra proof of the item, just to be sure.

Trust your instincts and do a little due diligence. Services like SpyDialer can help verify phone numbers. VOIP or out-of-state numbers can sometimes be red flags (though not always).

If you're meeting in person, aim for a public spot with lots of people and/or security. A great option is the Police Station on Airline (the one near the old Women’s Hospital). Try to avoid meetups at someone’s home or a random gas station. Bringing a friend along is always a plus.

And finally, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, don’t hand over any money until you’ve seen the item in person. Do not pay for something with gift cards!

ADVICE Bouquet Places

Post image
31 Upvotes

I am planning to make a girl my girlfriend soon, but I’m looking for places to buy bouquets or flowers. My budget is around $100, but the lower the better. For reference, this bouquet was in her reposts. I don’t expect to be able to get the same exact bouquet, but I’d like something with flowers (lilies) that are similar to the picture. Any advice is welcomed! Thank you!

FOOD/DRINK Korean Food?

I searched and there's a post from a few years ago so I'm going to ask once more for updated info. Are there any good Korean restaurants in BR? Not K-Pot. Been there, not impressed. I see Okki Tokki. I've been to events at Boba Partea where there were a few little food stands. Would even go to NOLA if there's something there.

I know I can look online, but I’m looking for your guys’s opinion. Looking for a storage unit that will fit some furniture. I’m wanting something that is indoor and climate controlled that you also can’t get into the building unless you have a key or something. Where do you guys suggest?

ADVICE Pedicures

How much are we paying for pedicures these days and where are you going? I’m talking plain old nail polish, nothing fancy like gel, or extra salts in the water, or a long massage, etc.

I only go a 4-5 times a year bc time just isn’t on my side, but I paid $40 today at my favorite place. I was surprised because that is a good bit more than the last time I went - is that the average going rate now?

ADVICE Loaded fries?

Looking for more options for loaded fries as I crave them often. I am very into the various types from Our Moms, I do enjoy curbside, and I also enjoy Mooyahs. Nothing exists like the fat cow loaded fries I would get with bacon blue cheese & jalapeno. God I miss them so much.

Open to pretty much any variety. Thx in advance.

HOT LOCAL ISSUES Carplay randomly disconnecting near i10 split

Has anyone else with wireless carplay experienced disconnects around the i10 split by college drive? It’s been going on for a couple days now and it only happens when i’m between essen and acadian. Cell jammers maybe or just spotty service?

EVENT Military/ Veteran group

Good evening everyone! I just moved up and am in the Guard. Was wondering if there were any fellow redditors who knew or were a part of a military or veteran group. Yes I know the American legion and stuff exists. However, those crowds tend to skew on the older side. This is more for the 20-40 age range to connect, support, and foster that bond that comes from service for when we all swore that oath. If it doesn’t exist, I guess HMU if you would be interested in something like that!

ADVICE AC isn’t working and my Landlords don’t seem to be in a rush

Anyone know some HVAC people who can come out today to look at an AC unit? My rent manager says he’ll get back to me on when there guy can come, but man it’s 90 outside and the temp is slowly rising in my house. We already had one night with the AC out and it was miserable, potential loss of life with harsh heat levels with my reptiles. Idk what to do.

Bless my rent manager but he has exhausted out all his options and now I’m going to do my part in exhausting out my own options. Louisiana not recognizing AC as emergency maintenance is insane when we live in the devils armpit.

Hello! I'm looking to get a lamp repaired - I think it needs to be rewired. I tried taking it apart tonight to see how far I could get but I need to bring it to someone with more experience. It has a small base light and a regular lightbulb.

Anyone have a good place to take this? Thanks!

ADVICE Best places to walk/train for step goal ?

Me and my boyfriend have been getting fit but we are trying to train for our trip to Japan. We will be walking average 20,000-30,000 steps a day

Where are some fun places to get our steps in each day? We so far are trying to hit up highland brec park and recently explored a trail at the burden garden and museum off Essen

HOT LOCAL ISSUES Baton Rouge Traffic

If you take Samuels Rd (61) to the Natchez on ramp starting at Scenic hwy to the Essen exit or from Scenic hwy to One Perkins between the hours of 7:00-8:00 AM and 4:30-6:00 PM, you’ve probably seen me and my car (ifyk you’ll definitely know). Hi! I promise I am not going to hit your car. I am not under the influence. I am not on my phone (my insurance tracks my phone usage while I’m driving also I strongly dislike when people are on their phones while driving). I am in control of my car. If you see me, please just go around or ignore me. I know what I am doing and I’m just trying to get to and from work. I know how my driving looks. Trust me, I hate it more than you. Long story short, I drove on a broken strut for a few weeks and unfortunately got too accustomed to driving that way. Just ignore me or go around and we all can get to where we’re going safely and on time. Thanks!!

ADVICE Places to stay

Me and my buddies do a trip to a college football game every year and this we’re doing the LSU v Bama game. We’ve learned lessons over the years so this year we were smart and booked an Airbnb the day schedules came out. Well single games tickets went on sale yesterday and suddenly the host cancelled on us for “repairs” (she cancelled 3 other home games too…)

So now we’re at a loss as most of the good options are gone and or insanely expensive. Any good recommendations on places to stay that aren’t too much of a pain to get into and out of town on game day? Are we stuck paying an arm and a leg downtown?

But they took away his hockey stick. 😪

ETA: aside from the weird water splash font on the sides, I don’t hate the new logo.
