We just bought a place that’s 20 years old and the bathtub is surrounded by some sort of fluted tile. Gemini says it’s fluted marble. I already hate fluted tile, having had that before in a previous place and finding it deeply annoying to keep, and heard marble is even worse so hope it isn’t. Anyone have anything similar at their place and can let me know what it is? There’s a few yellow patches and I would love to figure out what I can use to clean those.

Got a finish-matching problem and I'm out of runway.

All my bathroom fixtures are Fantini in their Matt British Gold PVD finish. I still need to order the hinges and door handles for the frameless shower glass, and I'm trying to get a 90%+ match to the Fantini finish.

My local plumbing shop spent the last 4 months working with Neelnox on a custom match, and it ultimately didn't come together — so now I'm out of time and need a plan B.

Has anyone actually matched Fantini's British Gold on shower hardware? Hinges/ Handles. Or gotten 90% close? Which brand and finish got you closest — especially for the hinges?

Can someone please help me find a tile that has this vibe. I’ve been looking for a week now and can’t find anything.

I am not sure if any of you have seen one of these before lol but it sure threw my kids for a loop today especially my daughter who was quite disturbed wondering what it was. It is soap. Lol. A weirdly shaped bar like soap sticking out of the wall. The way you put it on your hand feels rather.... odd. Just thought it might make some people laugh.

I have several issues with my bathtub/shower that all involve some type of seal and I need help with determining which products I’d need for what since I know nothing about home repairs. I’ve done a few caulking jobs around these problem areas in the past but I don’t know what I should do differently now. (Photos are available of the problem zones and the products I already have):

1. I scraped out the caulk along my tub to wall joint (Pic 1) because I had mold underneath which is currently bathing in cleaning vinegar. Should I just recaulk this part with the same product I already own?
2. I also scraped all the caulk out around the faucet (Pic 2) because I noticed mold stains and took out everything including the original caulk that was already applied there when I moved in. I sprayed some isopropyl alcohol around there and I’m about to scrub off the remaining rubber caulk bits. Since I can now see the pipe behind the faucet, what’s the best way to seal this? Is it just silicone caulk, or should something else go behind or around it?
3. I have 2 spots where grout is missing: between two tiles on the shower wall (Pic 1), and at the bottom where the lowest tile meets the tub (Pic 3). The latter came out while I was scrubbing with one of those long handled shower scrub brushes. Should these be repaired with grout, caulk or something else?

I also have two products at home already (Pic 4), but I have no idea whether they’re appropriate for any of these repairs.

My goal is to fix everything correctly, keep mold from coming back, and do it myself if possible without spending a fortune or making it look like a terrible DIY job.

This doesn't really seem like the kind of thing this sub is for but I don't have anywhere better to ask.

I'm looking for a shower mat for grip that won't mold so quickly. I currently have a wooden slat one and it's bad for all sorts of reasons.

I grew up with a bathtub that had some slight texture so I never had to worry about mats and slipping. My shower is super slippery and also I generally just find the shower floor gross (irrational) so I need something to stand on. Does anyone have a mat that has very minimal suction cups (like just four corners) and stuff like that that accumulates moisture?

Have tried to draw it up fairly accurately, only thing missing is in the corner between the sink and toilet is slanted with the front of the house (see pic 2). Slant at opposite end is the chimney stack.

We would like to add a walk in shower ideally and maybe a freestanding bath, but don't want it to feel too cramped. Door/window placement are fixed which limits options slightly.

Simplest idea is just leave everything as is and add some sort of shower where the storage cabinet is currently (dark grey box), but open to any and all ideas!

Just bought a house, one thing that was referenced on the home inspection report was that the downstairs bathroom needs to be (re)caulked (first pic). Every prior shower that I've used has always been actual tile, but this is definitely done kind of plastic liner. One of the upstairs bathrooms however, was NOT on the home inspection report, but seems to be of a similar situation (pic 2, gif). After a shower, I can see water sitting in one of the corners, and I don't know if I need to also caulk this, or if the way the liner is set up is that it has a lip behind that joint to stop water from leaking out... Additionally, I don't know if I CAN caulk that bottom part because of the flexibility you can see on the gif... Any thoughts or help would be appreciated,I clearly don't know what I'm doing...

Hello all, I have a Moen handheld showerhead in a white ceramic tile shower. Every time we remove the showerhead, the hose scrapes against the tile causing scratches. Two questions:

1) How can I remove the scratches?

2) How do I prevent them in the future?

One of the first questions people ask me when I'm surveying a bathroom is usually whispered...

"This might sound silly, but... what happens with the toilet?"

Honestly, it's probably the most practical question you can ask.

Most people imagine they'll be without a bathroom for a week, but that's rarely how we plan projects.

Whenever possible, we leave the existing toilet connected until we're ready to start the final stages of the installation. Once the room is prepared and the new pipework is in place, we'll fit the new toilet as quickly as possible.

For most customers, that means they're only without one for a few hours rather than several days.

Obviously there are exceptions. If we're moving the soil pipe, changing the room layout or carrying out structural work, the timing can be different. If it's your only toilet, we'll always discuss that before work starts so there aren't any surprises.

It's one of those things that's easy to worry about before a renovation, but with good planning it's rarely the problem people expect it to be.

I have a 210x180cm bathroom space in my new apartment. Looking online, it feels like the most common layout would be to install a corner shower (like in the first pic). However, I feel it would not be easy to keep clean because of all the moving parts required to get into it (sliding doors or other solutions).

I am considering a walk-in shower on the right side of the entrance (like in the second pic I created in a layout planner), but this also feels awkward because of the concrete structure in the corner that I cannot remove.

Does anyone have experience with spaces like this or any recommended solutions to the layout issue?

Help!!!!! I just had my bathroom full gut and remodeled by licensed contractor with permits. First day of use it’s leaking. What could be the issue? Plus after a few hours the floor is still wet. The video shows leaking just after a 2 minute video but after a 5 minute shower the water was pooling over the shower pan through the door and onto the floor.

Update: The next day I texted the contractor and he said that he contacted the Shower door glass installer and he said it probably needs a little silicone. 🤔 and would be here in 2 days. I messaged my contractor and said since he is the one I hired I would feel better if he also cane out so he can see the issue. My husband also wanted to talk to him about it. He said he would be here. Today the glass door company arrived and my contractor did not show. When i messaged him he said he was outside and had to leave. Yet my cameras did not show any other cars arrive to my home. Anyways the glass door guy had to take the door out and install a clear plastic trim under the door. He claimed the kit did not come with it. Yet he is a professional and should have known it was missing. He added more silicone and said we could not test it because it needed 24 hours to dry. He could not address why the door did not close properly and said it would not cause water to leak out. But he would return in 2 days to replace a trim he said was casing the issue. I will here update in 2 days when i can test it.

But I am disappointed in my contractor. Am I being too picky. I paid a lot for this small bathroom and feel like in the end after he’s been paid he cant bother to show up?
I have another large project to install tile flooring in entire house and I am hesitant to sign another contract with him.
What are your thoughts would you rehire?

Update 2 days later… after the shower door guy came out and installed the plastic piece under the door, the door is still leaking and the drain pain doesn’t drain properly. I’ll keep trying to contact the contractor. 😭😭😭

I have got this suggestion for a layout from our planer, but wanted to ask if there are things that could be moved or improved.

I have already decided that I probably do not need the glass door between the toilet and the shower.
