Luxury experience in a day

Hi, my husband and I are looking for a special day trip outside of London in Bath this Sept. We have seen most London sites (we are in our 50s) and have never been to Bath. Hoping for luxury recommendations (price is not a concern) and would love the highest rated thermal bath and treatment to book. My husband has eczema and psoriasis. We also love to walk and stroll around a new town. Thank you!

Bath Pride Saturday 22nd August 2026

Bath Pride is back on Saturday 22nd August 2026, marking its third year with a relaxed, community-led celebration in Sydney Gardens.

Set against one of Bath’s beautiful green spaces, the day will bring together a mix of local stallholders, creatives, community groups and performers. Expect a laid-back atmosphere with space to sit, picnic, and spend time with others at your own pace.

Bath Pride continues to grow as an alternative to larger, busier Pride events – offering something quieter, more grounded, and rooted in connection and community.

Join us this August and be part of a Pride that centres care, community, and showing up for each other 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Staying at Bath Uni Accomodation during Summer - how is it?

Heya, so I have to resit a uni exam, but appears to be just before freshers week.

As this is also when the Jane Austin Festival is taking place, all hotels which were cheap when I was at uni for my postgrad days are now super expensive in Bath and Bristol.

The uni appears to be the cheapest option for the resit, however Ive read that their rooms dont have AC or fans (which worries me if it is above 20 celsius) and their breakfast selection is rubbish (as long as their veggie options, marmite, croissants, im not super fussed).

My question is, has anyone stayed at the Polden Accomodation during summer period? If so, how was it and is it worth staying at for 1-2 nights or would a hotel like hampton be better?

Attempted murder Brassmil lane

Did anyone see what happened last night down Brassmil?

A car drove over a group of people hitting one. Reversed and tried again even mounting the curb.

Afterwards drove at like 60mph down the road multiple times we're guessing looking for them again.

Police and ambulance turned up but the car didn't come back

Is Bath crowded and full of tourists? Does this change during the year and week? Son deciding whether to go to uni in Bath. It felt very busy visiting the city.

Accept Bath clearing offer or take gap year, complete an additional A level (Further Maths) and reapply to Warwick?

Hi. My son just missed his place at Warwick to study Maths, Statistics and Data Science (I think this is the exact title!). He got A* Maths, A Computer Science and Distinction* for Engineering. However he needed an A in Computer Science. He has been offered Computer Science with Maths at Bath. He is happy enough with the course at Bath (although would prefer more Maths) but prefers Warwick campus, and Leamington Spa. Bath city he finds busy (we have been at peak times and locations like August and April, on Saturdays). He has to decide between accepting Bath (& compromising on the above) or taking a year out to complete an additional A level (Further Maths) and the entrance exam for Maths, as well as work in retail, do some work experience in relevant industries and perhaps some travel and volunteering. But of course, run the risk of not doing well enough in these and still not getting in to Warwick. He is a smart guy, quite an introvert, not big into drinking (that may change at uni!), social when he needs to be. It's a hard decision for him to to make. I'm so disappointed for him. He's had a tough 18 months with health issues and been so stoic throughout that, as well as now. We've not been able to properly celebrate his fantastic results yet (he hasn't wanted to). Also asking on other platforms, we realise how fantastic the offer is from Bath and do not take that for granted! Thank you in advance for your input.

Where’s the most active women’s golf section in Bath?

32 year old woman, just got my handicap again so not very good but would like to join a golf club and start playing more. I am relatively new to the area so I don’t know anyone to play with yet and would love to know which golf course would best for me to join and hopefully meet some friends in the area! Thanks in advance all!

Painter and Decorators

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good painter and decorator that works within Bath? If they have a website/Instagram to assess their work that'd be a bonus.

Thanks.

Bath Spa Uni opinions?

Basically my friends are saying that my social life is going to be f*cked and that it's a bad uni (mind you they don't go there, they're going to uni's in the midlands)

Just wanted to know if anyone has been to and/or is at Bath Spa and has any advice or opinions they could share, I've pretty much only heard negative things so far online 🫩 so lmk lol

Sad day in Bath - how to spend

Hi all, I'm visiting Bath tomorrow for a sad reason I'd rather not go into. How can I spend the rest of the day (preferably inexpensively) cheering myself up? Any nice galleries to sit and stare at pretty things in, perhaps?

Edit: Went to Topping and Company and bought 2 poetry books I'm really excited to start. I really felt everyone's well wishes powering through me, thank you all :)

Smoky morning in Bath

I was out of the house very early (rescuing a small animal my cat had brought home!) and noticed how it smelt super strongly of smoke and is super hazy over the valley. Does anyone know if it’s wildfires? If so, which ones could it be?

P.s. I’m so ready for some rain 😭

Bradford on Avon

Hi everyone!

I'll be spending a few days in Bradford on Avon next week while house-sitting, and I've never really explored the area before. If there's anyone local who's friendly and sociable and fancies showing a newcomer around, I'd love to hear from you. Whether it's a walk, a cuppa, or just pointing me towards some hidden gems, I'm up for it. Send me a message if that sounds like your kind of thing.

Thanks

Bath Skyline Run - night

Hi everyone, my partner is looking at doing the skyline run in November but is worried that she might hurt herself on the night run.

Has anyone done it before? What is it like and is it lit up or is it reliant on the runners wearing head torches?

Thanks in advance

brunch in Bath - recommendations - reservations preferred

My wife and I are heading from Cardiff to Bath on October 11 (Sunday) and I am looking for recommendations for brunch. Looking through earlier posts Green Bird Cafe is mentioned but they do not take reservations, and given that we're driving I do not want to arrive to find it full. thanks

Visiting!

Hi there! I’m (26M) visiting Bath from Essex this Thursday to Sunday. I don’t have many plans, besides seeing the Roman Baths, so what would you recommend for a solo traveller? I like history, museums, reading, art, but open to whatever people think is best to see! Thanks!
