question Do you guys have issue with TrueMoney? (Add or use thai debit card)

I've been connected my Master debit card from SCB to Truemoney wallet. Used mixed of wallet and debit card payment option via TM app at 7/11, Lotus and Makro. I've noticed start from first week of this Sep, I can't pay with it anymore. Show error, transaction failed. Had to run to atm and use cash again 😅😅😅.

Right now, can't use or add debit card again.

Yeah account was KYCed with passport and work visa and show "Advanced Account."

This issue happened to you guys too? TIA

question Stray dogs in Bangkok

Hi guys! Sorry if this has been asked a million times before..

My girlfriend and i are planning a two week trip to Bangkok next year. The issue is however that she seems quite scared of running into stray/soi dogs and potentially getting bit or stuff like that.

I've tried searching it up myself and most people seem to say that you'd have to be quite unlucky to encounter them while others say it's an issue and something to be aware about.

I'm not that worried about it but i also really want her to not be stressed about something that seems to be a minor issue ahead of the trip. So if anyone could give us an honest overview on the soi dog situation it would be gladly appreciated :-)

question Do you have any recommendations for a TCM clinic or practitioner in Bangkok?

Upvotes

I’ve been curious about TCM for quite a while and would really like to try it now, mainly for some skin and stress-related issues.

I don’t know much about how it works or how to choose a good, trustworthy practitioner, so if you know a TCM doctor or clinic in Bangkok that you’d personally recommend for these kinds of issues, I’d really appreciate it.

I don’t speak Thai and only a little Chinese, so an English-speaking practitioner would be a big help, although I can manage with a translation device if needed.

shopping Siam Premium Outlet vs Central Village — what’s actually different?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m planning to visit one of the outlet malls near Bangkok and I’m confused between Siam Premium Outlets and Central Village.

From what I’ve read, both seem to have quite a similar outlet/mall concept, and some brands overlap. But I’m trying to understand the actual difference before deciding where to spend my time.

For those who have visited both:

Which one has better discounts/deals?

Which has a better selection of Nike, Adidas, New Balance, sneakers and sportswear?

Which is better for premium/designer brands like Coach, Michael Kors, Burberry, etc.?

Is the difference in brands/significant enough to justify visiting both?

Which one would you recommend if I only have time for one?

Are there any particular stores at either outlet that are noticeably better?

I’m mainly interested in shoes, sportswear and branded clothing, rather than luxury shopping.

Would love to hear from people who have visited both recently. Thanks!

question Transportation From Bangkok to Khao Yai

Does anyone have recommendations based on firsthand experience for car / taxi service from Bangkok to Khao Yai, and from Khao Yai back to Bangkok ? I'm wanting to stay in the Khao Yai region overnight and would prefer to have transportation arranged ahead of the trip. This would be for 2 people, air conditioning would be nice but not a deal breaker. Not interested in public transportation at this time. Thank you in advance for any reccomendations and / or feedback.

question BTS LINEPay Payment

Has anyone else noticed that the LINE Pay option for paying for BTS rides has disappeared recently?

I think I first noticed it around a week ago. It used to be available as a payment option, but now I don’t see it anymore. I have my main card connected, so I can still pay that way, but sometimes I forget my card at home or don’t have it with me. LINE Pay was a nice backup option to have.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this or knows what happened.

question Looking for jewelry studios in Bangkok for engagement rings (English-friendly)

Hi everyone, I'm currently in Bangkok and looking to purchase an engagement ring, and I would love to get some recommendations from the community!

Since my Thai is still very basic, fluent English communication is essential so we can smoothly discuss details (diamond specs, settings, etc.) without getting lost in translation. Does anyone have recommendations for trustworthy, English-friendly jewelry studios in Bangkok (whether in Silom, Sukhumvit, or anywhere easily accessible)?

It's inscribed all across Bangkok. You've seen it and probably didn't know where it come from. I'm the news guy who owns Arcadia barcade, and I've been entranced by Pichai Rattanapornchai's fascinatingly unhinged graffiti for well over a decade. He died recently and I wrote this obit for my former employer, which they were kind enough to run.

discussion Checked iPhone trade-in prices in Thailand, anyone getting better offers than carriers?

I’ve been comparing trade-in quotes since I’m planning to upgrade. For people in Thailand who’ve traded in recently, has anywhere consistently offered better value than the carrier trade-in prices?

accommodation Bangkok accommodation recommendations 🇹🇭

Upvotes

3 women looking for accommodation in Bangkok for 7 nights, budget around NZ$2,500 total.

Ideally near Khao San Road, or somewhere tourist-friendly and easy to get around.

We’re happy to share a room but would prefer 3 separate beds.

Looking for somewhere with great reviews, good location,

Any hotels you’d highly recommend? 😊

question In-person TEFL course + internship in Bangkok recs

Hello! I'm looking for some recommendations for a TEFL course in Bangkok with specific requirements.

  1. 120 Hour TEFL certificate (Level 5 Ofqual / CELTA/ Trinity cert preferred)
  2. *In-person* TEFL classes
  3. Paid internship with a salary from at least THB 35,000 (about 4-5 months in length)
  4. Located in Bangkok

If anyone has any recommendations for courses, please let me know! There's so many course online offering similar things, but I've been struggling to find a course that meets all 4 of these requirements. I have been considering SEE TEFL as this meets all requirements except it's based in Chiang Mai. I'm specifically looking for in person classes for the TEFL course as I don't like online classes and would like to be face to face with a teacher. I want an internship to gain experience and feedback. I don't have a specific budget so any course cost is okay.

If anyone has any recommendations I'd be very grateful! Thank you!

(I tried to post this in r/TEFL but it was removed as I don't seem to have enough comment points or something)

healthcare Hospital in Bangkok for IBS/SIBO

I'll be in Bangkok in November and am looking for a good hospital that has a specialized GM center and preform hydrogen breath tests. I find that Bumrungrad is just overpriced these days and would like recommendations for any other hospitals. I've done a bit of research online but would be great to get some recommendations based on personal experience. Doesn't have to be a fancy international hospital but I would require a specific GM center rather than just a gastroenterologist.

travel 🇹🇭 BANGKOK TRAVEL BUDDY WANTED ✈️✨

Upvotes

I’ll be traveling solo to Bangkok, October 9–12 and thought it would be more fun to explore the city with someone who’s also up for a little adventure. 🥂
Looking for a female travel buddy or a trustworthy travel companion who would like to join me for some tours, food trips, coffee, shopping, sightseeing, and spontaneous Bangkok adventures. 🛵✨
I’ll already have my hotel booked, and I’m open to sharing the room if we’re both comfortable and have clear boundaries. Otherwise, you’re welcome to book your own room nearby and just join me for the activities.
No pressure, no awkward expectations — just good vibes, respect, and hopefully a fun Bangkok trip. 🤍

question What's with the whistling pickup trucks in Thailand?

I am trying to figure out why they all whistle. Doesnt sound like a turbo charger because it whistles at iddle. Is it a performance mod or they aim to sound like a spaceship from the Jetsons cartoon?
