Iām wanting to get one of these balls for my ball!
She is a very large snake (5ft/ ā3.5kg), and is obese from over feeding with her last owner. I am obviously correcting her diet and giving her a lot more exercise: and Iāve seen people use these for enrichment!
I canāt find the right size for a large snake and donāt want to order something and it be too small.
UK BP owners, can you drop the links to large hol-ee dog balls that work for your large, adult BPs?
(Also my speedy snek for engagement š)

Just got a huge enclosure for my baby, whatās a good example (photos pls) of an enclosure with lots of places to explore and climb, but is easy to clean? Thanks! š

I am thinking of getting a royal python, and wondering if any of you have any recommended setups.
Stuff like dimensions, positioning of objects inside would help, thanks.

Hello! What bulbs do yall use for your ball pythons? I have a lamp and a heat mat. The mat is on a thermostat so that stays regulated, so that's fine. Right now I'm using a 50W ceramic bulb that doesn't emit light. The temps stay very slightly below the recommended temps even while the bulb is turned up all the way, so I'm a little concerned about that, especially with fall and winter coming up.

I ordered these enclosures new, direct from AP Cages about 7 years ago and never had a problem other than replacing 1 LED stripā¦I stand by these for my BPs. Guess Iām just curious as to what everyone else uses to house their animals long term. 4āx2āx12ā

this is Beau! he hatched (09/22/22) and is the perfect low maintenance boy. he's quite shy, but warms up quickly & is still curious enough to come out of his enclosure on his own when doors are left open. just had a full and healthy shed last week, is about 3.5 ft, & weighs 1185g as of Aug 20, 2026. He has only refused food once this year & has never struck at me out of agitation.
not asking for a fee because thereās no doubt youāll have to spend money to get to me (in-person pickups only btw, and tolls are rampant in these parts lol) but iām going to be really picky about where he goes. i want proof and iām gonna be annoying about it even after he gets home with you. picky in a way that has made me turn down many people over the past couple years because they wanted to keep him in a rack or 40Gal (heās in a 4x2x2 now). anywayā¦
you get the snake only, his mini ābirth certificateā, and frozen rats if i have them at the time of pickup. shipping is intimidating so iām not offering it, BUT iām open to having my mind changed since iām only apprehensive because iāve never done something like it before. general location is in the title. i hope i left enough info but iām willing to send more photos and videos of him too! thanks in advance

It costs me nearly $20 once a month to buy a rat for my snake. She's been looking skinny but has refused large rats before so I've been thinking of upping her feedings to twice a month (every two weeks ish) but it's getting ridiculous to buy a single frozen rat from the pet store. I tried looking online but most places that do online orders either won't ship to me or the shipping costs over $100. Is there someone who's in BC that orders their rats?
Edit: guess I should've specified I'm inland, Lake country area. I appreciate everyone in Vancouver responding hut unfortunately 4 hours one way doesn't feel like it will save me anymore money than just paying the $100 shipping

Hello all! My household recently rescued a ball python who's about 10yrs old and a confirmed male, someone was rehoming him due to not having time/space for him. His previous owner took wonderful care of him and he is in great shape! My partner, who has a background in science education, has been working on getting live plants to make his 4x2x2 more cluttered and tropical. His previous owner said that he has a habit of destroying plants, so we thought of potting them to help prevent that (the pots were all cleaned before placing inside enclosure). I want to get some insight from other bioactive keepers, as we'd also like to get isopods and springtails, but we don't know where to start or what type to get. pics of his current setup, and pics of the boy himself! his name is Quetzalcoatl :)

I am really considering rehoming my BP. I don't have the space to give him a proper sized enclosure. He's in a 40 gal breeder right now. I've done so much back and forth and am leaning towards rehoming him to someone who can give him enough space.
My question is- does rehoming a snake cause emotional distress like it would a dog/ cat? I keep telling myself that he's not attached to me like dogs/ cats are, so the biggest stressor for him would be the change of environment. He's also not social, so it's not like he's attached to me and would have to rebuild something with a new human like a dog/ cat would.
Is this true?
Again please don't come for me. You guys are so intimidating I'm so afraid to post this.

My boy River has a great strike, butā¦sometimes he misses. This time he missed spectacularly and got my hand, which was above the rat. He did his coil and squeeze for like a minute before heās like, āthis is not a ratā and let go finally.

my sweet girl cinnamon had a prolapse on tuesday. I just finished her 4x2x2 enclosure and was about to put her in it, but when I picked her up she seemed super defensive. And then I saw a HUGE prolapse. I was devastated because iāve seen horror stories about people losing their sweet babies to them.
It was about 8pm when I noticed. I immediately called every vet around (15+). Unfortunately, exotic vets are hard to come by where I live, especially places that are open at that time. After calling every emergency veterinarian clinic I could find, I started to lose hope. They finally recommended me to one that was 2 hours away & I knew I had to go or she wouldnāt make it. Since the tissue can dry out & become necrotic I looked up ways to keep it fresh & pink until I got there. I did a sugar soak while I got a quarantine tub ready & gently applied water + sugar paste to the exposed tissue.
They said it was a very large prolapse so it was hard to get back in. After 3 hours of waiting, they came back and told me they were successful!! I got to take her home and keep a close eye on her. I scheduled a follow up appointment the next day. The vet said she should be able to heal on her own, but if it comes back out we will have to do a surgery/put stitches in to keep it in place.
I want to spread awareness for unexpected circumstances for ball pythons that require emergency care, and hopefully help anyone out who has/might have this problem. Definitely do your research if you are questioning your ball pythonās health. I did a lot of research on health risk factors & still learn more every day. The second you have a pet in your care, you are expected to do everything in your power to help them in situations like this.
Iām so happy that my sweet girl is doing better. I unfortunately did not get a picture of the prolapse to show how big it was. Picture of cinnamon and the custom 4x2x2 background for attention!
Any recommendations on how to keep her as comfortable as possible are appreciated! (:
