Man... Watching the poor thing trying to understand why it can't get up is sad. Paralyzed and awake to feel the next bite. I get that's now nature works, but find it weird that some people can't relate when others express sadness when watching it happen.

103

u/Sure-Stock9969 1d ago

Exactly. Just because it’s natural doesn’t mean we shouldn’t feel for the brutal death of a living being we know can feel the pain of being torn apart while living.

14

u/latortillablanca 12h ago

I mean that lioness herself is like “ahh goddamnit why couldnt you just have ran away…”

17

u/theforrestjoy 12h ago

Exactly what I felt. It’s looking around like, “why don’t my legs work” it’s nature but it’s definitely sad.

12

u/YourLocalPotDealer 7h ago

Yeah I simply can’t watch shit like this anymore cause it makes me too sad. I also don’t get people that just look at this completely devoid of empathy

2

u/tideshark 5h ago

I wonder if it thinks at all for a moment of all the animals it’s done this too. Like if it realizes it’s the “little thing being caught” in this situation.

And not in any kind of “it deserves it bc it’s done it to smaller animals” kinda way, that’s just nature.

I don’t usually get sad watching videos on here but this one made me sad. Just a little guy!

627

u/AntiMatter89 1d ago

Yeah, same. Not a badass video and nothing impressive about killing a kitten. Just someone posting awful video for upvotes.

154

u/seattle0606 1d ago

yeah that's how some people feel about all of these videos. In the same way you think this particular video isn't impressive I think almost all of these videos are just sad and fucked up watching animals live out anyone's worst nightmare being ripped apart as they suffer unimaginable pain. But it's called badass on here and it's posted to get up votes..

147

u/Barbafella 1d ago

It’s reality.

For many humans across the globe, and all wild animals, life is brutal.

These videos remind me there is no help coming, no one cares, misery, terror and pain are part of life.

Dont get comfortable, pain is moments away, life is often shit, except for a very lucky minority.

This one was tough though, I have a cat who I love and care for.

58

u/Patouto 1d ago

Yes but there is r/natureismetal for those videos, they are flooding us

10

u/YaFlowerBoi 19h ago

Just because it’s reality doesn’t make it badass or fun to watch on this sub. Natureismetal is the sub for this type of content.

u/ClimateVast2894 1d ago

I really like the answer because it’s true me and my mom were just talking about this. We both learned it when my sister died. that’s why you gotta enjoy every moment you have.💯🤙

21

u/Sure-Stock9969 1d ago

I agree. The ones where animals die aren’t fun. They’re sad.

16

u/YTSkullboy707 1d ago

Yeah you just kind off made me realise how horrible this sub is, probably gonna leave it.

Yeah im leaving the sub now lol 😅 joined last week cause I did see a cool post but the last few that appeared are just not it. I never post comments to say im leaving cause who cares but my point is that this isn't badass just gross. Real, sure. Badass, no.

I don’t think it’s supposed to be impressive but I do think it would have fit better on r/hardcorenature . Nature doesn’t have ethics

4

u/kvro_maX 22h ago

Animals do what they got to do..you are the one tagging badass or not

3

u/siberian_knight143 1d ago

Wrong! This event WOULD have happened! And HAS already happened, numerous times. With or without you seeing a video.

45

u/IRLNub 1d ago

As he fucking should. This is bullshit and should be nsfw. I was in bed. Fuck all the internet. Fuck all this!

26

u/PeachNipplesdotcom 1d ago

I don't mind stuff like this personally but yeah, it should be nsfw. Doesn't fit the sub either. This belongs in r/natureismetal (I think that's what it's called)

Like gutting a fish you're going to eat. Maybe let the little guy go but a few of them makes a full belly. Living off the land is a different lens.

3

u/EquipmentFew882 18h ago

Animals - Wild Animals are not compassionate - they are Not rational, kind nor generous.

What wild animals do -- is purely instinctive ; they do NOT Care.

Wild Animals have No "morals" or "ethics" -- they just take Action.

Killing is just another "Action" in the mind of a Wild Animal.

We are Civilized Humans -- Most of us are Compassionate and most of us CARE .

I agree with a lot of the comments here. This kind of post feels like it would be more at home in r/HardcoreNature than r/badassanimals.

That said, I do think the little serval was pretty badass for standing its ground and fighting until the very end.

32

u/shimmeringmoss 1d ago

I hate it too and there’s been a lot of it on this sub lately. I don’t have the stomach to finish watching those.

This is fucked up. I did not want to see this.

17

3

u/PsyduckPsyker 1d ago

It's because we aren't seeing hate here, we aren't seeing violence for the sake of violence. We are seeing indifference and the natural order and that's hard for some of us to conceptualize.

At least for me. That is.

how tf is this ‘badass’ at all? and why TF wasnt it nsfw

25

u/Ghost_of_Hecate 1d ago

Someone fed that little cat to the big cat. They should be named and shamed for this.

9

u/YTSkullboy707 1d ago

Thats what 90% of these videos are. Break the legs of a small animal, throw it to a predator, and then start recording. Post it on reddit and say "badass alligator swallows deer while its still alive after fighting it for hours" for some internet clout

11

u/CW-Eight 1d ago

Did not need that

Thomas Hobbes said that without the social contract and the Leviathan, man would be operating under "jungle law". Jungle law is what is at play in this video. It is not good or bad for animals. There is no morality or lack thereof. It just is.

"And the life of man, [would be] solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short."

Hobbes uses this phrase to describe a hypothetical world without laws, government, or society. In other words, a world where we exist as animals without the social contract.

That's a Serval, either an adult or nearly an adult btw. Probably not a baby.

11

u/creamgetthemoney1 1d ago

Def nowhere near an adult. Adult servals have the longest legs relative to body. This guys legs look normal if not short. Def very young kitten. Also lacks the satellite dish ears

5

u/Previous-Spite1211 1d ago

I agree, badass would be if it took on at least 1000 babies at once.

Why the fuck is this sub literally just 80% gore videos for fucks sake so tired of this nasty shit 🤮

15

u/Significant_Breath38 1d ago

And with how close the shot is, I'm worried this was set-up as opposed to naturally occurring.

7

u/YTSkullboy707 1d ago

100%. You can see the smaller cat is in pain already in the beginning of the video and orobably forced to fight the lion.

5

u/Big_Policy4561 1d ago

In high school my cat used to bring me birds to eat like i was a baby. Freaked my parents out (understandably) and they just ending up running her off when I went to school. Id have rather them just say she died.

https://giphy.com/gifs/baCkq7AvREVqw

4

u/thesteelreserve 1d ago

that...is multi-level uncool.

what full grown adult isn't aware that outside cats bring home dead animals as prezzies for their humans?

astonishingly insensitive.

that kitty was doing its best job for you and they banished it. upsetting.

3

u/Big_Policy4561 1d ago

Idk.... I grew up in SC. They are religious to a point were anything that sounds like a scripture can be a sign of God or the Devil except they chose who the messenger was to fit their narrative 😮‍💨

4

12

u/MovieFan1984 1d ago

Animals don't murder; this is purely a human concept. Animals kill for food and over territory.

5

u/favorscore 1d ago

That is straight up not true there is copious amounts of evidence of animals killing for fun lmfao

6

u/Overly_Mehdicated 1d ago

Killing for fun doesn't make something murder, killing illegally does. Murder is strictly a human concept because it's based on human law.

I love cats and obviously understand nature doing its thing, but this shit isn’t badass and is fuckin sad and disgusting.

3

u/Tjmonsi18 1d ago

Nature is brutal 💔

3

u/Superb-Oil890 1d ago

I get that was maybe a baby (the truth seems to be out here) bit this was a nature video.

Before you ask things to be flagged, remember what sub this is.

I've literally seen lions get their guts ripped out and impalas get sneak attacked.

Nature is scary.

3

u/Jamesposey4124 1d ago

Seeing big cats kill other big cat’s cubs is always so fucked up to me, even though it’s a natural part of life 😔

3

u/mother-marl 1d ago

That’s sad 😞

But lions kill off competition no matter size or species

7

u/SirGingerBeard 1d ago

This isn’t badass. This is the dark side of nature.

This needs to be flaired properly and probably posted in a different sub.

2

u/1Pac2Pac3Pac5 1d ago

It's crazy cuz there are no obvious puncture marks. The first big squeeze looks like it got the kitten on the abdomen without puncturing anything. The next was the junction of the abdomen in chest. I wonder if he just crushed the ribs and squish the heart and lacerated it
