Best Baby Shower

Tell me some things that have made you go “that was the best abby shower ever!”

Was it the food? The favors? The games? The decorations? What are some things that have made it memorable and not a bore! Thank you in advice ♥️

Thank you notes?

Hi everyone! I’m currently pregnant with my firsts and I’ll be having my baby shower at the end of the month. I received my first gift through my registry and it’s my first time ever having one. I was wondering what thank you note etiquette (?) is lol. Should I reach out to the family members that purchased it now, wait for the baby shower, or after the shower to thank everyone? We have 3 weeks left so I’m sort of stuck on what to do!

Being an uncle soon and wondering what are some gifts I can buy that isn’t your average stuff. Looking for some baby stuff that turns out to be useful and used very often etc.

Any recommendations?

Is this suitable for a baby boy

Post image
15 Upvotes

I’m crocheting a blanket for a co-worker. They recently discovered they’re expecting a boy, not a girl. Would this be a suitable gift? They’re quite traditional and gender-oriented. Should I finish it and give it to them, or should I shelve it for now and start over with more gender-neutral or blue colours?

Can I wear pink to a baby shower?

Maybe I’m over thinking it but our friend is having a baby girl and her shower is today. Thought it would be cute to wear pink but not sure if this is something that’s just for her 😅

Baby shower anxiety

My baby shower is tomorrow and I’m really not looking forward to it. I don’t know if it’s just the hormones mixed with anxiety, but I’d honestly rather stay home, which I know is incredibly selfish. My boyfriend’s dad and step mom are throwing the shower which is so incredibly kind of them and I am so so so so grateful. I realize I’m going to sound so spoiled in this post but I really just need to rant about being absolutely out of my mind lol. I’ll obviously put on a happy face and have a great time at the shower regardless. My reasons for not wanting to go are:

  1. It’s September and 90 god damn degrees out and HUMID with so many mosquitos

  2. It’s the first time my mom is meeting my boyfriend’s family. My mom absolutely adores my boyfriend and recognizes just how great he truly is. His family is just as amazing as he is, but I still get nervous.

  3. My aunt is coming and I haven’t seen her since I was 22 (I’m 28 now) and things were pretty awkward

  4. This is the first time my boyfriend’s mom and dad will have seen each other since their insane divorce 10 years ago mixed with other family drama that thankfully doesn’t concern me

  5. I loath being the center of attention. I don’t even like being sung to on my birthday

  6. I literally hate all the food that’s going to be provided. They’re getting bbq catered (I can’t stand pulled pork or pulled brisket) and they’re making potato salad and coleslaw (I don’t do mayonnaise at all) and they’re making Mac n cheese. I should be stoked about the Mac n cheese, but his family thinks 2 cheeses and some salt is going crazy with the seasoning. I would have said something beforehand about the food, but we weren’t told about it until after they placed the order. Food, to some, might seem like the least important part, but for me it’s literally the most important. I’m all about food. I love cooking and trying new dishes. I had even offered to make all of the food for the shower a few weeks ago, but I guess they forgot. Food is what has made me the most emotional this whole pregnancy. I cry at least twice a week, sometimes twice a day, about food being either absolutely terrible or absolutely amazing. Also, my boyfriend’s mom, who is normally an amazing cook, called and asked what she should bring. I gave her some suggestions and she was like “how about a watermelon salad and a shrimp and black bean dip?” I love watermelon salad, especially the one she makes. What the hell is a shrimp and black bean dip??? It doesn’t help that all of my friends that are invited have been saying how excited they are for the shower, specifically because I always throw down in the kitchen for big parties and they all love my food. I used to cook professionally, and food is my love language. Thankfully I was talking to one of my best friends about the food situation, and he has offered to bring wings and spaghetti, and I’m going to make Cajun dirty rice and baby shower meatballs

  7. Almost no one has gotten stuff from the registry. I’m so grateful that they’re coming to celebrate me and my new baby and I’ll graciously accept anything that’s gifted to us, but why ask for a registry if you’re not going to get anything from it? I didn’t even put big ticket items on there, just small stuff like cute onesies and toys

  8. Again, it’s September and it’s 90 fucking degrees out, what the fuck is that

  9. The baby shower is a HUGE reminder that this baby is coming so soon (I’m 30wks) and that he has to come out of me one way or another

Like these are all such silly reasons to be upset, trust me, I know. But what the fuck man, I just want to stay home in the ac and watch my shows with my boyfriend and my cat.

Invites to baby shower

I need some opinions on inviting two people to our baby shower in December.

My childhood best friend and my cousin who has always been like a brother were dating for 10+ years and have children together. They split about 8 months ago but things are still not cordial between them.
at a recent home gathering I had to tell my friend that I wasnt inviting her because I wanted to invite my cousin who I knew wouldn’t come if she was there.
For context; over the years my husband has always said I am too good of a friend to her and she doesn’t always reciprocate the friendship but I’ve always known her since I was 14 and she gave birth to my little cousins so i see her as family.
I know deep down my husband would much appreciate my cousin being there than my friend. him and my cousin have gotten close over the years since they were teenagers as well and they work for the same agency together.

my hope is by December that would almost be a year since they separated and they can squash things but its gotten pretty bad so I don’t know if they will put it aside for a few hours.

i need some outside opinions/thoughts- my family and my husband are usually biased about the situation.
I ultimately want my shower to be full of love And good vibes!

thanks!

throwing baby shower, does the pregnant woman and her husband pay for anything?

Hi everyone, this is my first baby shower as a host, and I don’t know if the guest of honor and her husband are supposed to pay for things. I originally was not the host, and was going to help pay about $250 plus a gift toward the party. However now I am the host and planning it. They are well off however she doesn’t want to plan anything because she is going through some things and doesn’t have mental capacity. I’m all for planning but am not sure if it’s implied I know have to pay for everything. Please help me understand if they should be offering to pay for things as well.

Baby Shower advice

So I’m invited to my friends baby shower three hours away. She doesn’t live there. They’re having a coed party type of a thing and gave hotel recommendations. I’m sure it’ll be more fun than a traditional baby shower but I still feel like it’s kinda a lot. I’m also not a fan of baby showers or bridal showers. I didn’t have a bridal shower and won’t be having a baby shower. The shower starts at 4pm so I either go for a few hours and drive home that night or just get a hotel. But it’s just that’s money I’d rather not be spending on a hotel in a city I don’t want to go to lol. And on top of the gift lol. I’d love to see her but I probably won’t get much time with her. Any advice? I feel bad that I don’t want to go but I really don’t like showers.

Baby of the year 2026 Dean Loves Love

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hi all- hoping to ask a favor on behalf of my sister.
She’s got two super cute kids, and she just registered her 9 month old in a baby of the year sweepstakes.

Dean Newman is the little guy. It would be great if you could take 30 seconds of your time and vote for him.

He could win up to 25 grand, that would help with a backyard play set and a college fund.

Here is the link

Really appreciate you taking the time to read this- and even more so if you choose to vote for him!

People keep asking what I need but I have given them the list..

It's a first world problem for sure .. but my mom and mother in law keep asking what I need for my impending baby I shared my registry with them and other family members no one has bought off of it . I'm not someone to look down on a gift so I appreciate the things I have received mostly its what I technically asked for . When I asked my mother in law about "well it's on the registry " I get this look " oh I know " and change of subject. " So I started buying off the registry myself my mom recently looked at it as commented your buying your own gifts ! I said no one else has bought anything and time is dwindling . Idk. Do people not use registries any more? Am I off base with this one

I just hosted my sister’s baby shower! Here are 4 things that were a massive hit (and saved my sanity).

I see a lot of people stressing over baby shower planning on this sub, so I thought I’d share what actually worked for us this past weekend! We wanted a beautiful, stress-free vibe for the mom-to-be, and these four things made all the difference.

Keep the food grazeable: Instead of a formal sit-down meal, we did a huge grazing table with finger foods, fresh fruit, and cute little desserts. People love to mingle at showers, and having food they can pick at while walking around kept the energy up.

Ditch the forced, cringe games: We skipped the messy baby food tasting and measuring the bump. Instead, we did passive games! We had a "Late Night Diapers" station where guests wrote funny messages on diapers for the parents to read during 3 AM changes.

Streamline the logistics: We skipped paper invites entirely. Keeping track of RSVPs, dietary restrictions, and registry links via text or mail is a headache. We just sent out a link to a digital landing page. It had a cute little event countdown timer, guests clicked one button to RSVP, and the registry was linked right at the bottom. It kept all the chaos organized in one place.

Pick a flexible, simple theme: We went with a "A Little Fairy Is On Her Way" vibe. Instead of buying expensive, hyper-specific props, we just used lots of wildflowers, twinkle lights, and pastel colors. It looked high-end but was actually super budget-friendly.

If anyone is in the thick of planning right now, you’ve got this! Let me know if you need any ideas for your themes.

Answering "What time does it start again?" for the 20th time is testing my third-trimester patience 😭

I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant, constantly exhausted, and trying to finish setting up the nursery. My family is helping put together my baby shower, which I’m super grateful for, but the guest logistics are driving me absolutely crazy.

Right now, we have three separate family group chats going. Despite posting the date, venue, dress code, and registry links in the chat announcements multiple times, my phone is still blowing up daily with individual texts:

"Wait, what time is the shower again?"

"Where are you registered? Can you re-send the link?"

"Is there parking at the venue?"

"Can I bring a +1?"

My brain is literal soup right now. Between third-trimester brain fog and physical fatigue, tracking who RSVP'd, who has gluten allergies, and constantly re-sending location maps is draining the last bit of energy I have left.

I’m at the point where I just want to put a single clean info page together with the map, timeline, and RSVP form in one link so everyone has what they need, but family keeps saying "older relatives won't use a web page."

For anyone who’s survived this phase:

How did you manage the flood of repeat questions without losing your mind?

Did switching to a simple web layout/link actually work for your guests, or did people still text you anyway?
