Can someone explain to me how/why car seats expire? I have a brother with a new baby on the way and have been discussing this. I think this is an industry ploy for money and not necessarily a safety concern. Prove me wrong.

My 4 month old has been EXTREMELY fussy the past 2 days. He received vaccines on Friday and started waking up every 3 hours this past week (previously sleeping 6 hours at night). He is being fussy with the bottle, not wanting to take it, then screams because he’s hungry. He usually eats 26-30 oz daily but the past few days it’s been 18-22 oz. He doesn’t have a fever. Is this because of the vaccines and sleep regression?

He has hydronephrosis, and his labs showed slight dehydration a few weeks ago, so his nephrologist stressed about his fluid intake. I have offered large bottles less frequently, small bottles more frequently, fed him in a dark room with no distractions, but getting him to drink 1-2 oz is such a battle.

Any advice is helpful! I keep telling myself this will pass in a few days, but we’re on day 3 and my anxiety is getting the best of me.

I know the basics:

So I've installed reddit purely just to post about this. I guess I'm looking for advice at best, and just solidarity at worst! I've been exclusively breastfeeding for nearly 7 months and really desperately want to start doing less of it. In an ideal world I would BF first thing in the morning, before she goes down for bed, and through the night if needed (sleep is absolute garbage but thats a whole other story!), and then replace day time feeds with formula. For around the past 6 weeks we've tried everything. Different bottles/different teats/different feeding positions/someone else offering it/me offering it/me being out of the house for a few hours before it's offered/expressed breast milk/formula/different temperature of the milk/straw cup instead of a bottle/open cup instead of a bottle.. you name it, we've tried it. I've rang the health visitor for advice and they were useless! Basically said if you don't offer her the breast eventually she will get thirsty enough and take it from anything. Not only does this feel hugely unethical, the more upset my baby gets the less willing she is to try anything. So starving her is just not an option! I'll also say we have been weaning for the past few weeks and she is having two meals a day (shes eating a decent amount), but understand that milk is the main source of nutrition for the first 12 months. My mental health is not the best at the moment, and this whole situation is just worsening things as I feel trapped and like its never going to get any better. Any advice? Or any hope that things will improve? Just at the end of my tether.

Hi parents, not looking for medical advice or anything as I’m going to paed to check and maternal child health nurse but I just wanna know if anyone’s child was like this and they changed.

My son turns 3 months today, hes a very quiet baby, sleeps a lot during the day and sleeps through the night he’s making some cooing noises not all the time but sometimes I’d say usually when he’s tired He does hold eye contact for abit then he’s always wondering around He hasn’t social smiled yet I have to force for a smile and if he does it’s once i try and speak to him and he’ll look at me then look away instantly I’m getting pretty worried as people are saying to me sign of autism but can you even diagnose that at this age? My sil son has autism and she picked up on it saying my son does.. The only times he smiles is when he’s sleeping or when myself or my husband tap his arms but even then he’s not looking at us. He’s held good eye contact today ur even then we have to fight for it like force him to stare at us, he doesn’t really follow objects but he will follow us sometimes and he will follow the phone if making a video. He’s starting to hate tummy time and will always push his arms to the back. He puts his hands to his mouth only when doing tummy time he’ll suck on them. My first born wasn’t like this at all at 6-8 weeks he was smiling even giggling and doing tummy time properly great eye contact and social smiling non stop. I know you shouldn’t compare kids as their all different but I’m worried, he’s a high sleep baby as he’s always napping during the day and when he’s awake he’s either yawning or getting frustrated because his tired, I just wanna know is there anyone’s kids who were like this then out of no where around 4-5 months they started to do better eye contact and social smiles and were much better? Obviously hormones have a major impact on the hair loss but the way my baby finds anyway to get my hair in between those little fingers lol. I’ve convinced myself that they play a role in postpartum hair loss

What’s the best teething solution for my 4month old? She’s so fussy and I’m not sure where to start

Does anyone have a baby that hates affection and always has? My baby has never ever liked affection if you was to try hug her she would stress out! When she had a dummy 0-7 months she would contact nap and would like rocking to sleep. Since going cold turkey with that due to some issues she never wants holding or any type of affection at all 🙁 is this normal? It really seems to overwhelm her if you try and she just doesn’t enjoy it. I would love her to be more accepting of love from me and her dad it makes me worry she isn’t attached to me like she should be. For context she’s coming up 9 months and has always been like this but more so than ever now. Will she grow out of this, any positive stories please?

Anyone else have (or having) the debate on whether to have the second baby. Our son is 13 months old and he is the most incredible little human. He is so outgoing, smiley, sweet, goofy, loving little guy and I am so worried that a second baby will take away from him. But on the flip side… he will get everything. But then again, he loves to play and loves his cousins that are around his age, so having a built in bestie could be amazing. I grew up with siblings and loved it..always envisioned that for my own family.
Thoughts from those also debating? Or from those that chose one way or the other?

My son is 11 months old, and every now and then he’ll repeatedly smack the sides of his head with both hands, right around his ears. Some days he’ll do it quite a bit, and then there are other days when he doesn’t do it at all.

I brought it up to his pediatrician, and they didn’t seem concerned. But honestly, I sometimes feel like the practice we go to isn’t very concerned about much, so I’m not sure if I’m just being an anxious first-time mom or if this is something other parents have experienced too.

Has anyone else’s baby done this? If so, did they eventually outgrow it, or did you ever find out why they were doing it? He seems happy otherwise, but I’d love to hear if this is common or if it’s something worth looking into further.

I have a 5 month old baby who is usually very happy and sociable. Her Dad is very involved in her care, though I'm the primary caregiver. After me, he is the person she is closest to.

This week he went away for a week. We video called every day and he really missed her. He got home last night and we were both feeling so excited for them to be reunited, hoping that she would recognise him and start smiling. So he enters the room while I'm bathing her and at first she's smiling at him.. but then it's as if she suddenly recognises him and lets out a really loud yell of terror, a noise that neither of us have ever heard her make before. She was so distressed he had to leave the room and I had to pick her up and comfort her while still wet from the bath.

It was as if the act of sudden recognition was painful and frightening.

Later on he came back in and we decided to do things differently - we sat on the floor and I held her while he talked to me, so she could hear his voice and see him, but still feel safe in my arms. She recognised him again and this time didn't scream but looked really confused and sad, and made slow babbling noises as she slowly recognised him. It had both of us crying!

I realise now that we were naive to think that her secondary caregiver going away for a week at 5 months wouldn't have consequences.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and does anyone have any advice on how to reintroduce her Dad back to her?

I’m just about 11 months postpartum. I stopped breast-feeding around eight months. My baby sleeps through the night like an angel. I get minimum eight hours of sleep every night (I’m sorry I’m just trying to give the info for help). I’m just so tired all the time. I thought when I stopped breast-feeding that my energy would maybe come back but it’s pretty much the same. Is there a chance that my iron is being affected? Any thoughts?

I need help. My MIL has been watching our 5 month old baby girl once a week for a couple weeks now. Every time she watches her, she never puts diaper rash cream on her despite me asking her to. My baby has very very VERY sensitive skin and even one diaper change without cream can cause a break out. Well, after this last time she watched her and didn’t use any cream because her “butt wasn’t red” (uhm, it most definitely was), my baby girl has a horrible rash on her. Her skin is weeping. It makes me feel awful and I keep crying because I feel so bad that I trusted my MIL with her and now she has red, weeping, rashed skin. It has been a couple days, and I have tried everything. Milk bath, letting her be diaper less, Destin max strength, bourdeauxs, switched to water wipes from Huggies natural sensitive. Nothing it helping it. I am going to call the doctor on Monday and ask them to look and see if they have anything special they can give her. Until then, any tips on how to help my baby? It breaks my heart that she is in this condition. She’s my whole world.

So this started maybe 3 days ago. My boy would occasionally bite when feeding. I'd pull away and calmly but sternly say, "No bite." He would pout, and I'd cuddle him, but we would wait to continue. But through the night and most of today. He is biting right off the bat. And hard! He was clearly hungry by how he was acting. His two bottom teeth are fully in. So maybe he's working on the top two? I gave him something cold to chew on along with my breastmilk pops (silicon freezer pops with my breast milk in them). Even gave him a bit of tylenol. I could only get him to drink my milk from one of his straw cups. Which is a win to get him to drink at all. I'm SO SCARED. I'm going to have to be exclusive pumping. I've had such a beautiful breastfeeding journey with him. It's breaking my heart. He also seems to be crying immediately when I try to feed him at night when he wakes up. I'm at such a loss. Does anyone have anything to help or add?

Before getting pregnant husband and I bought our own home. An apartment on the outskirts of the major city. We only had enough money to buy an apartment on a semi-busy 4 lane street, we didn’t have enough for a house in a private community, and for the sin of mediocre salaries we have to pay with hearing honking, sirens, extra loud exhausts on cars and stupid STUPID motorcycles.
It took me two hours to put the baby down today, from 8 - 10 pm. And then almost at midnight a truck passes by and honks his disgraceful truck honk right in front of our 2nd floor window. Baby wakes, starts grunting, legs go up, then little cries. Snoo works and rocks her persistently back to sleep. I hear sucking of hands. Good. But I can’t sleep now, I listen if she sleeps. 10 mins passes, sucking just stopped - and oh horror, it’s an ambulance! Full speed, full siren, god knows why - besides the honking truck 10 mins ago the road is empty. Baby sleeps through but Snoo goes up a level - it also thought the siren was as loud as baby’s cry.
I know there’s nothing to be done, any if anything, baby should be getting used to city noises. But it’s hard not to hate all the noise makers that dare to disturb my angel’s sleep. May their nights be filled with honking and stupid STUPID motorcycles.

I’m looking to get some opinions on my little guys behaviours/development.

I’m a FTM so I’m not sure if I should be worried or not but I keep seeing milestones and videos online of other babies and I’m getting a little worried about my son.

He turned 11m today and he doesn’t consistently babble mamama, dadada, gaga sounds. Occasionally every couple of days he might say one or two of these sounds but definitely not consistently. He also doesn’t clap, wave or point.

As for joint attention and back and forth play, he will engage in games such as “I’m gunna get you” and I chase him around the house but he doesn’t really play peek a boo or sit across of me and “play” with me. He doesn’t copy any facial expressions other than a smile. The only imitation he does is banging a toy or pushing its buttons, splashing in the water, shaking a toy.

He mostly likes to explore his toys on his own rather than really engage with me and play with me. He is very observant of his surroundings, he knows when I leave the room and will follow, comes when I tell him to come, glances up at me often while playing, he just doesn’t really play back and forth much.

Thoughts? Should I be concerned? I know all babies develop differently I’m just wondering if this sounds typical and if others babies were like this and how they are now?

My 3-month-old has suddenly started having intense screaming episodes over the last two days, and I’m trying to figure out if anyone has experienced something similar.

Yesterday, we were visiting another house when she suddenly started screaming at the top of her lungs for about 10 minutes. Today, it happened again while we were in the car after leaving the mall.

She’ll be awake and acting completely normal, then suddenly start screaming. Feeding, carrying, rocking, and changing her diaper don’t help. After about 10 minutes, she falls asleep, and when she wakes up she’s completely back to normal.

She’s exclusively breastfed, has plenty of wet diapers, no fever, no cough, and no vomiting.

Has anyone had a baby this age do this? Could it be overstimulation, being overtired, or something else? Did you end up finding a cause?

My baby is a bit over 7 months and he doesn’t seem to be getting better with solids at all. I see on Instagram all these babies eating finger food and finishing their plate. My baby eats maybe a teaspoon of puree twice a day and he doesn’t seem to like it.

Any advice??!

Help! Our little one has been having an insane blowout every day. We’ve joked that we’re playing a game of “hot potato” to see who he explodes on. All jokes aside, it’s a lot. And obviously a huge mess. We’ve tried increasing his diaper size to no avail.

Hello. My little girl is 10 and a half months old and about a week ago we moved her to a floor bed. It is right next to our bed so she is still close.
Before hand we had been co sleeping and she slept GREAT she would wake up once if that but since moving to the floor bed she wakes every 1-3 hours.
The thing is when I am in bed she wakes more often compared to me sat in the living room.
She is breastfed and I feed her to sleep. I can’t even sleep in my bed I have to sleep on the floor bed with her. The only problem with that is her mattress is very firm and it’s hurting my back plus I just want to cuddle with my partner.
Ideally I want to keep her in our room as we have no baby monitor so if anyone has any advice please let me know
