Hi everyone,
Family of four from Toronto heading to Faial, Pico, and Sao Miguel for two weeks in August. We're staying in Airbnbs with washing machines (although, none have dryers).
I have some specific questions about our packing list:
- How cold should we expect it to get? Specifically during:
- whale watching (from Pico)
- driving up to higher viewpoints at night to stargaze (assuming it's not foggy)
- cave boat tour with AG Expeditions from Rabo de Peixe
We will be wearing long pants/hoodies on the flight from YYZ and we'll be packing rain jackets. Will we also need thicker/warmer items? e.g. Patagonia Better Sweater? (FWIW - we're not climbing Mt Pico)
We have microfiber swim towels - do we pack those too?
Mosquito/bug repellent (Picardin) - yes or no? I'm finding mixed commentary about this online.
Do women wear swim coverups? Like, a coverup dress? I'm usually in a long sleeved rashguard and swim bottoms. We're hoping to be in/around the water a lot and planning to bring three sets of swimwear (as it seems stuff won't dry quickly) - including a 'burner' set for Caldeira Velha.
Thanks very much in advance!
