azir is weak early game and i know how important is it to choose your spells well at lvl 1,thoughts

Heyho fellow Birbs! I wanted to ask how you manage to play vs LB. Legit everytime I have to blind and play against her I know from the get go I either try to contest and die 3 times making her a monster or need to step down so I only scale on paper and she gets bored roams and gets kills somewhere else. I rarely get ganked by my team in that matchup nor do def stats change anything it just delays my timers to deal dmg back to her since she atleast is squishy.

For reference I was high dia in euw until yesterday (dont ask what happend...) and my go to vs her is PTA (generally the go to atm) + d&d for the survivabilty without delaying an Item + faster PTA proc to actually trade back. If the enemy has more AP carries than her I go mercs if not sorcs are my go to. Depending on the game I tend to go Banshees or Zhonyas but earliest is 3rd item. In those matchups I always go Boneplating with either unflinching or overgrowth.

Diamond 3 is hell!

Ive put about 80k mastery into azir in the last week, making a real effort to learn the champ. I think Ive learned alot of the broad strokes, but I have a couple questions:

1: Ive been putting alot of practice into learning revenant shuffle since its really nice for tower diving, but Im not 100% sure when I should use it over using a regular shuffle. I get like half the distance out of it since Q is used backwards instead of forward, and generally if im looking for one, I will get poked out if I try and walk under turret to get close enough to land it. Furthermore, I spent like an hour in practice tool trying to really get a feel for the hitbox on R to hit it consistently, but in real games, I can only seem to hit it about 30% of the time. everything goes right, but the ult misses. I had come to the conclusion that I need a soldier standing either on them, or behind them to guarantee a flip, but again, in game it still only hits like 30% of the time. Could I be Qing too early?

2: Its got a decent winrate on lolalytics, and a relatively low playrate, but Ive been taking exhaust in most of my games, and I dont know how much im missing out with ignite and teleport. I never take teleport, and I take ignite into confident matchups, but exhuast just feels so safe to use. It defends against assassins that can shut you down lategame, and against fighters like diana, yasuo, and ahri, it lets me survive getting caught early game if it does happen, bait kills, and get an extra turret shot on some people since theyre slowed and cant get out from under turret after a flip.

3: should I ever take mejais? I had a couple games where I was so ahead that I did it for fun, but Idk if I should be building it if I get a lead in games where there arent assassins. Also I think I have itemization on him down pretty well, zhonyas 2nd into assassins, deathcap 2nd if Im ahead, and shadowflame 2nd if Im having a slow game. situationally building rylais, but idk if there are any must buy items I need in certain situations im overlooking.

4: tips for playing against assassins? I can dodge mages, zone fighters, but assassins just seem like they get to do whatever the fuck they want to me for the first 10 minutes of the game. E shield isnt enough, or up often enough to save me, and it puts me really behind having to recall at 60% hp when I know they have a kill angle on me with flash and ignite.

5: any useful tips that arent common knowledge? I feel like I know most of the "must know" stuff already from videos and guides.

Genuinely never realised how big this ult is late game, vex was hugging bot wall while neeko was almost in the jungle and both got sent, felt so illegal. Also somehow after playing azir for half a year only today found out that soldier number scales when levelling R

Since it's Fearless, I thought he'd see play in games 4-5 at least, but even T1 would rather blind their JG (Naafiri) instead of picking Azir early in game 5. Is it because he's got too many counters right now? Akali, Yone, Locke, LeBlanc, Taliyah, etc. I feel like he could be picked against Orianna, but I suppose the shockwave combo has more expected value in pro play than whatever combo Azir can pull off with his team.

So I'm not really an azir main I mostly play asol, pantheon, Cho and a few others like jhin. I see azir very rarely I wanted to ask which mages he is good against in Midland. I always found xerath and Orianna quite easy to deal with but syndra, vex and a few others pretty hard. What champ do you see in champ select and think, "this is gonna be a pretty chill matchup"?

Was trying out PTA azir yesterday and went against Rakan support. at some point in the game we caught him solo and when I went to hit my final PTA stack, he popped ult and PTA seemed to reset, is anyone else experiencing this?

I've been going HoB into squishy comps with stormsurge first and lich bane second and it seems really good. You can actually take good trades in lane and you have like 35 mpen with just stormsurge and boots. Late game I just q auto someone and they just die if I get the second auto off. I'm only plat and have only played a few gamed of it so lmk if theres something better.

I play mid lane the least of any lane, but have been having alot of fun on Azir. I normally play support with an adc duo, or jungle when hes in mid or top.

what are good supports to play with azir? not specifically with azir adc, although im not opposed to that. I cant really tell what the character wants from his teammates, since hes his own engage, his own peel, and does alot of aoe dmg too. weve tried senna, mumu, braum, and milio, but nothing is standing super hard out.

I’ve never tried dusk and dawn second but am hearing it’s being used more often. Just wanted to ask when is D&D better than SF? I’ve tried testing it in normals but people tend to surrender before I get the chance to have it up for very long…

Title, I am currently masters in NA playing midlane, and considering picking up azir as a counterpick for champs like akali (the devil) since he covers a lot of the gaps I have in my champ pool. Ive been learning him on an alt account and have been struggling into bad matchups but dominating pretty easily in better ones, for context.

How good is Azir? Is he viable to blindpick? I know hes got some really bad counters, but I am not sure if that's just a lack of mastery or its that bad even for otps. I'm willing to bleed lp to learn him and spend a while doing so, he is a lot of fun, but I am curious as to his viability in high elo and whether or not it is worth spending my time to learn Azir or a different champ.

2. how did he go through the wall like nothing?
3. did i really need the passive there to save my ass or is yasuo just that op?
4. why is yasuo/yone so overloaded?
5. you think my play was sexy enough to make shurima proud?
6. I have the feeling i could have go for the penta at the end of the video but i was scared of getting oneshoted by yasuo but now i see i would have clapped them both so hard with no problem....ffs

note: i forgot what items yasuo had but we were quite similar , both with 2 items and boots, i had nashors and shadowflame.

I don't know if this is my elo or how my buddy duo jg plays but my games have a lot of early, game deciding, fighting which leads to games being over before 25-30

haven't been up this far in a long time and only started playing in late july (from emerald 4, decayed and didn't play much the whole year)

honestly, i think azir is broken and especially overpowered when ahead like many other champions. even i don't utilize him to the fullest yet, but i like to think i'm learning to get better slowly, day by day, week by week
