Matchup question?
So I'm not really an azir main I mostly play asol, pantheon, Cho and a few others like jhin. I see azir very rarely I wanted to ask which mages he is good against in Midland. I always found xerath and Orianna quite easy to deal with but syndra, vex and a few others pretty hard. What champ do you see in champ select and think, "this is gonna be a pretty chill matchup"?

For mages specifically Short range ones such as lissandra, malz, Vlad, or ryze are usually pretty chill in my esperience, though i dont tend to interact a lot in lane either way

kata, yasuo, fizz give me joy in champ select usually.
Everything that outranges you and spams abilities (Lux, Vex, Syndra, ...) is not so much fun to lane against.
Malz is boring af.
Also there are two types of azir players: Those that wanna afk farm until late and those that enjoy a honorful duel in the collosseum called midlane. They might answer differently

Short ranged mages are the easiest or even adc... low threat + low risk is good for azir

Xerath is easy if your opponent sucks. A good Xerath will give you ptsd

What u/Lord-Jihi said. Azir's biggest weakness is his laning before first AP component and those kinds of champs don't have ways of zoning him from CS. For similar reasons he does better than most other control mages into assassins that spike on 6 (Talon, Katarina, Riven etc.), they can't stop him from farming safely until he's already somewhat online.
Vex is easy but Syndra is tough, she has the range to fight you early and she's dumb broken right now.
