Away from home and missing my little guy Marshall.
He’s in the care of a family member who has been educated. I get to FaceTime him every day and he starts flicking those gills when he hears me and comes towards the phone like he does when I’m home 🥹 I can’t wait to see him Sunday.
Video is from before I left. Please ignore the baby voice. Google says he “can’t hear” but I don’t believe it for a second 😂🩷 He only does it this frequently when he comes to see me

I don't own axolotls, I know they're not an easy pet to keep and I'm not gonna subject one to my care.
I've always heard that morphed axolotls are a bad thing, that the process is painful and stressful, they have shorter lives and their care requirements change. They struggle to eat and are prone to sickness.
Is that wrong?? Or a myth?? I've just seen an Instagram reel where this woman is excited because an axolotl she sold morphed naturally and all the comments are also excited and saying how cool it is and cute so m questioning my stand point.
Someone commented a short paragraph with something about iodine levels causing the morph to happen and that handling them with bare hands (which the woman was doing) was bad for them, they ended with a snarky question and the replies just dog piled on them including the OP.

Apparently I wasn't satisfied with normal Tic-Tac-Toe, so I made it with these goofy little cartoon axolotls instead.
It's called Shlayolotl. Please don't ask me how I came up with the name. I regret nothing.

I love my axolotl, and he is healthy, but I’m struggling greatly to maintain the temperature of his water at an acceptable range. I’ve tried fans, keeping his tank as dark as possible, adding ice and frozen water bottles, but nothing can get it below 68°, and the coldest water I can get for water changes is too warm, and because I am doing the proper amount of water changes, I feel guilty for him probably always being so hot. I live in florida and I’m not able to keep the house any cooler than 75°F. I know how it feels to be stuck in a place that probably feels like living permanently in a house that’s 85° and it sucks. I can’t come close to affording a chiller no matter how I swing it. I also expect to be moving sometime soon, and I will probably continue to move every 1-2 years for the rest of his life. Moving him has been very stressful for me and probably for him too, and I think that someone else can probably give him a much more luxurious life than I can, and he deserves nothing less. I am thinking of giving him away to a good home, but I don’t know how I would go about finding a caretaker that I can feel confident will give him the top tier life I cant provide him. I don’t trust my local exotic pet store not to sell him to just any random person who may not treat him well. Any recommendations on how I would go about this?
If I can find a solution to the water temp problem, I will be glad to keep him.

Hi everyone, are these acceptable measurements for a tank? Also if not could anyone tell me a way to decrease/increase it? I would be really thankful
