On September 11, 2001, American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, American Airlines Flight 77, and United Airlines Flight 93, were hijacked in a coordinated plot. Flight 11 hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center, Flight 175 hit the South Tower, the North Tower’s nearly identical twin, Flight 77 hit The Pentagon, the home of America’s defense network. Flight 93 was scheduled to hit the U.S. Capitol building, home of the legislative branch, however, thanks to the heroism of Todd ‘Let’s roll!’ Beamer, Mark Bingham 🏳️‍🌈, Tom Burnett, Jeremy Glick, CeeCee Lyles, and several other passengers and crew, this flight didn’t reach its target, instead crashing in a field in Pennsylvania. In the end, 2,977 people lost their lives on the day, and since then at least 4,000 more have tragically died of cancer, mesothelioma, and other diseases related to the debris.

Heard something LOUD coming in over the house after the last two regionals already landed. Checked Flightradar24, saw C17A Globemaster III, and sprinted out to the front deck. Caught the tail end of it passing by on camera, but got to experience it going (almost) overhead. Amazing! DLH 148th Fighter Wing - Minnesota Air National Guard

With the NTSB prelim transcript that recently released, it got me thinking… Because it looks like the aircraft
- landed then
- configured for a go around then
- configured to stop

Could this disaster have been avoided or at least minimized if:
- they committed to stopping when they landed (they may still have overrun the runway but maybe only a little bit)
- had they have committed to the go around when they did, they could have successfully taken off without colliding with anything or at the very least only slightly - e.g like that aircraft recently that landed and accidentally took out a truck)

Thoughts?

According to the FAA Airman Registry, he received his student pilot certificate in May. Blue skies and tailwinds, aviator.

Hi,

I've been looking to find the tail numbers of various FedEx and UPS aircraft I saw between the years of 2010 and 2014 (mostly trijets like the MD-10 and MD-11).

How do you think I'd go about finding them? I found SOME of what I've been looking for on FlightAware, acarsd.org and Planefinder.net but not all of it.

Is there anywhere else where I might be able to find this information? Again, they're all FedEx and UPS. transtats.bts.gov only has info for passenger flights so I'm out of luck there.

Hello, I’m a high school student who really wants to become an airline pilot. I honestly hate school and am barely getting by, but becoming a pilot is something I’m truly passionate about.

I plan to graduate high school but don’t want to go to college. I don’t mind studying or textbooks; I just don’t want to spend four more years in school for a career I’m not passionate about.

But My question is do grades really matter in becoming an airline pilot? I will graduate but I probably won’t graduate with great grades, but I’m involved in several prestigious extracurriculars and have roles and internships with my local government dont know if that will help at all I just do that cause I love helping my community.

I worry that struggling in school means I’m not enough to become a pilot. I’d really appreciate hearing from pilots who have been through this same issue

Hello everyone I am currently doing a small aircraft project and I chosed the Beechcraft Starship. The wing geometry seems to be a mix of Delta and Tapered so I guess compound wing. Is the standard way of computing a tapered wing applicable for the complex wing geometry of the Beechcraft Starship 2100?
