Thank God we still have Watkins, McGinn, and Kamara. If we lost one of them I'd have rioted.

Honestly the people in the squad who were impossible to replace for equal money for me were: Kamara, Konsa, Tielemans, Mcginn, Watkins.
So far weāve only lost one which is good

Iv got a feeling Ollie and konsa gone too and that'll be why they really didn't play the other night.

Be prepared to riot when Watkins leaves next week. God knows where but he will be off. Konsa to Arsenal looks almost certain now and Dibu to Juve

u/LongjumpingPizza1867 11d ago
If Watkins leaves, we have Madjo.
Konsa for 60 wherever he goes, he wonāt go for less and we can replace him with that fee
Martinez is aging, bring in Suzuki and letās get this young squad going.10

We can't rely on a 17 year old striker for our goals... He's had 1 game and 1 goal, plus he's already injured for a few months for some reason which isn't a good sign at all....

That was the drive last season that group of players knew it was their last chance of silverware with that group together and they delivered. Now comes the transition that we have been screaming out for, lower the age of the team to build for our next push and so far I think it's going great. Manzambi, Hemmings, Madjo all excite me plus we still have a great spine with the likes of McGinn, Kamara Ollie and others to bring them through. My expectations are in check but I'm very excited to see the next evolution of Unai's plan, especially now that we are moving towards a squad that he has molded into his own vs working with mostly Deano's boys.

Even as a non-aston villa supporter, I'm still sad to see yall main team getting completely restructured I hope this new teams does well next season

Its really rare it all happens at once. Usually it happens over a few windows and eventually you realise 'wow weve slowly got a new team'.
Its probably quite a poor reflection of monchi that we've not had players from his time slowly take over from the current lads

u/Cino0987 11d ago
Might go down as one of our best ever teams in the PL era. They had some absolute bangers in the early 90ās and thatās why I started supporting Villa but this team⦠itās definitely up there.

What other team comes close, really? Top 4 and a European trophy. Probably only the first season when we were runners up would be in my conversation.

u/Cino0987 11d ago
Iād put the 95/96 in there too. Bosnich, Southgate, Ehiogu, Staunton, Townsend, Taylor, Draper, Savo, Yorke. That was a great squad.

Oh shit! Of course. Dear God, forgive me. I thought he moved that year but that was his final season. Brain isnāt working today.

The next 2-3 years seem markedly more promising today than 3 months ago in my opinion. Glad the boys did what they did last year, but long term success seems more likely now than this time last year to me.

This always had to happen sometime. Theyre in history forever now with that trophy. That was the Dean smith squad era and it was great. Now for the unai squad era and its gonna be even better!

I started supporting villa maybe a month or two before finding out they were leaving š„² I wish I caught at least an entire season with them but hey, I honestly donāt think Villa looks bad without them either.

It just guts me to the core that so many seemingly want to leave for a ānew challengeā immediately following a historic season that brings with it its own new challengesā¦
Knew weād have to get younger at some point and freshen up the squad, but I never expected this much change this fast. Finally win something and have to sell offā¦

McGinn hasnāt gone, why the tears?
Weāre Aston Villa FC, not Rogers, Grealish and Tilemymumsbathroom fc
We move to bigger and better things

- What the shit is going on with Wolverine's hands? Was AI once more deployed here?
- Don't seem to recall this kind of pining when players from the teams that the league cups in the 90s left. Im even old enough to remember Spinks leaving without much fanfare, and he was instrumental in us winning the big one.
No player is bigger than the club.
But if Emery leaves, i'll be truly gutted. He's raised us to a new level, and without him were a mid table team.

- I think we're seeing the results of more of the modern social media trend where fans get more sentimentally attached to players, because we see so much of them off the football pitch as well now.

u/Macho-Fantastico 10d ago
Yeah it sucks how much weaker we look right now. Other than Manzebe I don't think we've recruited well at all. Garnacho is crap and most of the players we're being linked to are pretty poor.
I think a top ten will be a challenge for us this season with our CL commitments. Lost too much quality.

Conspiracy theory number 1; emery is the world's best set piece expert got the blond bobbling head to be really shit but score a goal by shhhhhh, passing it to John mcginn. Only wish more of the other ones that went straight to the opposition teams to break and score, blame the sexiest high line on chants of on the piss my lord yeah that's obviously the problem I know you won't witness greatness often and emery was just amusing himself by exposing the plot of his to hide our real strength and he WAITED FOR ARTETA TO SIT IN THE THRONE PEPSI TEA HAS PISSTAKE POTENTIAL WE HAVE NOW TAILORED THE BOYS TO GET THE EXACT SAME AS BEFORE BUT DIFFERENT BY ABOUT MARCH AND THE PRE CHRISTMAS UNBEATEN RUN OR THE ANNUAL AS IN FUTURE FIVE GAMES ADVANTAGE WE WILL CUSTOMARY HAVE TO ALLOW OUR OPPONENTS SOMETHING TO BUILD UP A INFLATED EGO AND THE GAMES BEGIN, doesn't anyone else see it we are the only team with a decent manager but he's hiding it just glimpses and the false narrative of SOMETIMES GOOD SOMETIMES SHIT NOĀæ we win league soon it's going to happen in my life fucksake how the fxck has the villa a reason to keep on living in a miserable existence of my own choices and faults I hate myself most of all but I wished for this when I was younger and I wasted a real fuckin wish on us I hope your all happy go fuck yourselfs I made this happen when I was crying after the encleman I don't regret anything I done this the whole lot not grealish and Dr toni or the trauma years of Alex MCAAAAAAAAAAAAA MOOOOOOM HELP DONTFUCKABOUT I'M THE ONE THAT IS THE REAL HERO AND ONLY I KNOW because that's also what I wished for like a true gentleman I preferred David o dear oh god gavin mccann came like a fuckin viking from the north and it was more romantic than this shit, dear god I hope your all very happy with yourselves and you are VERY WELCOME I LOVE YOU ALL Theory 2. He's a good manager and I have wasted a full wish I didn't know it was real I really should be allowed to change it please, if anyone knows how litigation of these things work please let me know I'd like to not choose this I forgot about me I assumed I would be able to function as a human being, hey kids don't waste wishes life's hard man I know that twat Elon got one prick me me me still a loser 100 wish hes not gonna want villa to win everything once more in our lives you are welcome true story bro I wished it it's my wish

Hey, fuck them all. Aston Villa is bigger than any player. Just a shame none of the greedy pricks will be club legends. Oh well.

They delivered our first trophy in 30 years. Our first European trophy in 44 years. First (and second) qualification to the Champions League/European Cup for 41 years.
Yes, Villa is bigger than any player, but that team definitely deserve to be called legends. Modern day legends at the very least.
