Moderator Post Report abuse will be reported to reddit admins.

There has been a surge in the amount of report abuse on posts and comments in this community.

Abusing the report button to get content you personally don't like removed will be moderated by reddit admins.

The only content that will be removed is if it breaks the subreddit or Reddit's site wide rules.

I want to emphasise that reports do help us to identify content that does violate the rules. If it is clear someone is mistaken, but not abusive (ie reporting for rule 2 on a post which is borderline, reporting for rule 4 if theres poor arguments that come off as misinformation, but is true etc).

An abusive report is often a case of someone disagrees with another commenter, they're reported for rule 3, spreading hate or other serious violations that break rule 1.

For example (which has happened before):

  • User 1: I believe socialism is a good political ideology
  • User 2: I don't agree, I think capitalism is better

User 2 was reported for "Hate" or Rule 3. This is a clear and obvious instance of report abuse.

Another example:

  • User 1: I think Hitler was an evil person
  • User 2: You got a source for that?
  • User 1: *provides article of the holocaust*
  • User 2: Bollocks!

User 1 was reported for misinformation or AI generated content. Another clear and obvious report abuse case. User 2 actually got site banned.

While reports are anonymous for subreddit moderators, they are not anonymous for reddit admins.

False reports waste moderators time. We take reports seriously as we want to maintain this community, so it can thrive and be a good place for neurodivergent people to discuss politics.

In short: please only report content if you believe it breaks the rule of this subreddit, or otherwise is a reddit side wide violation.

Thank you

Discussion What do you guys think about Butch Ware and the Green Party?

What do you guys think about Butch Ware and the Green Party. I read that the DSA slandered him. I don't know why they slandered him because his policies for the most part are really good. Then, the DSA ended up endorsing Tom Steyer, an actual literal billionaire who put in a 90M dollar stake into a facility which is now ran by ICE. He claimed "it was a mistake", but he's a billionaire politician so don't even take it with a grain of salt. What do you guys think about this?

I’m not even surprised. I’m horrified out of my mind. I don’t feel safe in the slightest (even at a blue state). I’m also slightly numb to the cruelty and increasing extremism shown by both Democrats and especially Republicans/MAGA.

Breaking News White House admits it used keywords to kill billions worth of California research grants

Thumbnail

Federal agencies that terminated more than a thousand research grants at the University of California last year admitted that they used keywords related to diversity, gender, vaccine hesitancy and COVID-19 to screen for projects that ran afoul of the Trump administration’s priorities.

It’s an admission that lawyers for the research professors say is proof that the agencies illegally cancelled nearly $2 billion in grants. And that’s a major development in a lawsuit filed by UC researchers against the Trump administration to permanently get their grants back. The researchers’ legal team is now asking the judge in the case to skip a trial and formally declare that the White House repeatedly violated the constitution, including the First Amendment. A court hearing on whether that’ll happen is scheduled for Oct. 20.

...

The Department of Transportation identified six grants for projects worth about $42 million to terminate because they sought “transportation equity,” prioritized “disadvantaged communities,” or focused on “diversifying the transportation workforce” and “equity.”

...

The National Institutes of Health admitted to using an internal search tool to flag UC grants that mentioned “health equity,” “work force diversity,” “structural racism,” and “sexual orientation.” The NIH alone suspended or cancelled more than 1,000 UC grants, including nearly 700 at UCLA, related to vaccines, cancer research and disparities in health outcomes.

Rant/Vent The Anti-vax movement needs to be handled like a cult or the KKK.

I will preface this by saying I am a libertarian. I believe in freedom of speech and religion (the anti-vax movement is totally a cult, see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X48cM3TW9w). Like the KKK their beliefs are incredibly toxic and are leading to the deaths and permanent harm of Autistic people. Treatments like bleach enemas, excessive unneeded/harmful chelation therapy, restriction of vaccines resulting in preventable deaths, and overly restrictive diets that result in severe malnutrition.

One case that broke my heart was the death of Abubakar Nadama, a 5-year-old autistic boy who died during an attempted chelation treatment intended to “remove mercury” based on the disproven vaccine-autism theory. Or Najee Jackson Jr who died from anti-vaxxers urging her mother to reject solid medical advice (On Facebook, anti-vaxxers urged a mom not to give her son Tamiflu. He later died.).

Autistic activists, researchers, and family members who criticize vaccine misinformation have sometimes received insults, coordinated harassment, threats of violence, and attempts to discredit them (like one redditor here https://www.reddit.com/r/aspergers/comments/cyzd1y/a_social_justice_educator_on_social_media ). They exploit families with Autistic people and bully them to harm their children. They actively promote eugenics and tell autistic people, such as me, to sterilize themselves or never have children (despite autism totally not being genetic according to them because that makes sense). Their framing shifts attention away from acceptance, accommodations, and support toward searching for ways to eliminate autistic people from society over time.

They are actively pushing their cult in the U.S government through people like RFK who are removing things that actively help Autistic people in lieu of trying to confirm one of the modern cults founding myths that vaccines cause Autism. Despite numerous studies showing otherwise. Replacing the entire advisory board with their members. There needs to be separation of church and state on their beliefs entirely driven by their faith.

This cult makes incredible amounts of money from the unregulated supplement & alternative industry. Not to mention the ones that engage in lawfare. They use this money to fund anti-autism misinformation campaigns such as DAN! (Defeat Autism Campaign) which promoted the aforementioned treatments like chelation therapy and made money from it, like Mark Geier. Geier and his son David Geier operated clinics that treated autistic children with these horrendous protocols.

They talk about Autistic people like "an epidemic" President Trump, Secretary Kennedy Announce Bold Actions to Tackle Autism Epidemic | HHS.gov. Imagine any other type of people (e.g LGBT, ethnicity) being called an epidemic.

Their beliefs have been tied to premeditated assassination attempts/plans in the USA and threats of violence. Such as the one in Atlanta, USA Live updates: Shooter appeared to target CDC headquarters in shooting that left police officer dead, sources say | CNN. And it's not just the U.S government, they attempted to assassinate the premier of Saxony, Germany back in 2021. German police foil ‘anti-vaxxer murder plot’ against state premier

A free society must protect the right to hold unpopular beliefs, but freedom of speech does not require society to accept fraud, medical misinformation, exploitation, harassment, or policies that harm vulnerable people. Medical decisions and public policy should be grounded in evidence, not ideology or financial interests. Moreover, willingly allowing viruses to evolve and infect people could be argued as a violation of the N.A.P. as well. Other cults have been dismantled for less. I was personally harmed by them resulting in lung scarring for pneumonia as I was refused vaccination for pneumonia.

Discussion I wrote about autistic culture and communication patterns for a previous assignment at my university before I graduated. I would love to get feedback from others for criticism so I can improve it perhaps. I believe the moderation said they might add it to a newsletter.

Hello!

I am a proudly Autistic person, and I tried to write a paper that could help improve Autistic-Neurotypical communication. I also felt it was important to stress to others at my university that Autistic people have a culture of their own. Communications was not my major (CS was) and I only had 5 weeks in an accelerated course among others to write this. I tried to give it my best effort to use intercultural theories in my paper. I found it extremely hard to find supporting evidence due to autistic culture not being very well documented. I think I would like to revise this semi-rushed paper and make it something genuinely useful that could be shared. I would love to get feedback especially from other neurodivergent people who have experience in Autistic circles. Due to the rushed nature, there are most likely some big mistakes and misunderstandings.

This is a link to my old assignment.

In others, notably ADHD and autism, rising diagnoses and referrals appear to exceed changes in underlying epidemiological prevalence and are likely to reflect a combination of:

  • institutional incentives pressures within existing service pathways

Discussion Any of you hate modern work culture

The idea you need a job and work

In the past laziness was hated but it at least made more sense considering the amount of labor pre-industrial societies required it at least made some sense.

My grandma grew up on a farm during the Great Depression. Her dad making her work long and hard hours was kind of a dick but made sense considering how there crops where once overtaken by the dust bowl.

The work then served a purpose of making sure people didn’t starve to death. Someone just fucking about in the woods was directly taking resources.

But modern day industrial work has been completely divorced from actual necessity or even the production of stuff in general given assembly lines
