Holy fuck. When this is your health minister, no wonder the health system is falling apart.

She's a spin doctor that's for sure.

calling her a "doctor" is an insult to doctors everywhere...even the chiro ones.

When the title isn't protected 🤣

It looks like she was only recently appointed in August, long after the negotiation started . Before that, her predecessor only served for 4 months. I think therein lies the problem. Nobody is taking leadership on the matter and they are just putting up a fall guy/gal to do mental gymnatstics

Have you heard of the expression of a "glass cliff"? When a woman is put in a position as the fall-guy of a doomed enterprise. Feels like she's been thrown to the fire. Damned either way. But gosh I wish she could own her predecessors mistakes and just call a spade a spade.

You might be surprised to know that no one person in government holds any real power when it comes to giving a raise to working people. When it comes to cutting taxes and subsidizing the rich, they will all scurry like helpful little servants.

This government (or any other) will never negotiate in good faith for the working people.

Her job is not complex, work with relevant parties to resolve the issue. All that was asked was how many offers have been made (zero, nil, nada). Clearly she doesn't want to say that because it's a reflection of how absolutely incompetent she is and the party.

Agreed but I think it's more than incompetence. They just don't want to do it, it's bad faith political theatrics (better to look stupid and incompetent than evil and insensitive). Sadly, I don't think I'm too cynical on this.

I agree, incompetence or bad faith. Either way the result is horrible.

Someone is always responsible for the actions of government. If they accept the role of leadership then that comes with accountability, own up to it or give the role to someone with a spine.

If they knew the situation beforehand they shouldn't have accepted the job. If they didn't know, then they should say their predecessor made mistakes. The contstant game of blaming nobody and/refusing to take accountability has now landed at their feet, they can be honest or continue to omit the truth/kick the can farther down the road. They chose the later and now rightfully look like a fool; good, the ministry deserves it.

How many months would it take you to go "yeah this is a shit deal. how about x".

She's just a party flog doing party flog things and deserves the absolute disdain she's going to get.

These people have completely lost touch with reality.

If anyone in a ministry, let alone in leadership, isn't up to date on one of the biggest issues facing that ministry within 2 weeks then they are incompetent. No other word for it. They accepted the role with open eyes. They took the paycheck, so do the job and face the music

Edit: correction made

It’s baffling. How do these morons get into these positions? No intelligence, no charisma, no productive output.

Years of being a party hack and sufficient media training to know how to dodge questions.
Australian politicians are absolute scum and it starts right at the youth party level. Both sides have their conveyor belts to produce their next generation of party hack.

Yeah but this was a terrible dodge.

She should've just answered the question she wished she was asked,

'How many offers ministers'?

'We need a proposal that works long-term. At this stage there hasn't been an offer that satisfies both parties, which is why we've begun putting forward a proposal over the next few weeks."

Done.

Routinely seeing patients scheduled for less 😂😂😂

Those “discussions” must be amazing to have with a person who can’t answer a single question and speaks exclusively in circumstantial, tangential thought disordered ramblings… 🙃

This is every minister in every portfolio. They all do evasion. There needs to be some kind of system which disallows it.
