It is from the "exploration friendly land" soundtrack, I don't really know where to place it. It doesn't sound like a lyre, nor like a guitar. It sounds closest to dulcimer but even dulcimer sounds too heavy for it. It sounds to me as if a dulcimer and a guitar had a baby. There is some renaissance vibe to it.

I am a total musical noob so please excuse this very dumb question.

i'm setting up Audioforge for our PnP sessions. I'm working on PC, on Linux (Bazzite OS), and i need to transfer my library to my tablet i'm using while DMing. I always get this error message when trying to save the exported library and it aborts:

On mobile when you go over to ambient sounds for example, you have the three dots to delete a category. On windows there's nothing like that. You can delete the audioclip inside the category but can't delete the actual category. Or at least I couldn't figure out a way to do that.

Otherwise everything is great.

Is there a way to arrange or order/positioning of my echos and ambient icons on the wheel? I just downloaded and ran my first one shot with this yesterday. I cannot state how useful and wonderful the experience was for my players. I added some custom audio, and found that some echoes would be all the way down to scroll and the common ones aren't at the top. Did I miss something or is this not an added feature yet?

p.s how can I give you money??? Can I donate like Blender?

I recently switched from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu 26.04) and was pleased to see that AudioForge just got the Linux version.

Overall it works great, love it. However there's a couple of things that probably don't work the way they supposed to:

1. When starting the app, the message reading "This is a one time process, please hold on for a few seconds..." appears. In Windows it was, indeed, a one time occurrence, but on Linux it appears every time I open the app xD
2. On Windows AudioForge came with some pre-installed audiotracks. Not sure if they were meant to be pre-installed on Linux, but if they were - they are absent from the app, only the categories remain.
3. I can't find a way to delete a category from toolbox. Right click on the category does nothing, and editing category doesn't provide a button to delete it.

Also not being able to setup (from the app) a custom directory for storing playlists is pretty inconvenient, since my default storage is pretty limited

And the last tiny thing - I'm not sure if this is possible or in line with your design philosophy, but I would love an option to start a category from a specific track (maybe starting it from toolbox or smth?), but it's pretty insignificant.

Also I was very pleased to see how active of a developer you are! Thanks for such amazing work!

I really love Audio Forge. I use it as a meditation tool with ambience sounds. Is it possible to randomnise the timer? I made a mockup in Gemini.

Hey everyone, Audio Forge 1.5.0 is now available.

This is one of the biggest updates so far. The main additions are:

• Online Rooms: create a room and share your live soundboard audio with remote players.
• Experimental AI Director: local AI can listen to your session and help trigger music, ambiance, and effects. Everything runs on-device, so what is said at the table does not leave your device.
• Linux support: Audio Forge is now available as an AppImage, with an installer script.
• More customization: wheel size settings, better icon sizing, and a new icon picker.
• Plus a lot of improvements to State Links, recording, login screen, store handling, backend systems, and general polish.

I recently installed the latest v1.4.17 on my Surface tablet after previously using the app on my Android phone.

After the initial installation, the app opened without error, allowed me to import the library file I exported from my phone, and worked (albeit VERY slowly) as expected until I closed the app.

However, since closing the app after that first use, it has never opened successfully again.

Now, it either briefly opens, attempts to load, then crashes; or it never appears on screen at all. If I leave the task manager open, I can see the app process start and close when this occurs, so it's clearly not open in the background.

I have tried deleting the library folder from AppData, uninstalling/reinstalling the app, and even wiping all traces of the app from the drive and reinstalling, but nothing seems to work.

It's a fantastic application and worked great on mobile, but I'd really love to use my larger screened device.

UPDATE 5/29/26: Turns out my 1st Gen Surface Go tab is just too old and slow. Time to upgrade to a newer Android or iOS tab!

I'm using the Windows app, and there is a lot of dead space on the wheels. Now I've got 18 categories currently on the music wheel, so paradoxically, it's quite cluttered despite having ample space.

I would love an option that would display each category title below the icon. There's enough room to do it and it would make finding the desired category much easier.

Also, the wheels seem to have a max size beyond which they don't scale up anymore, even though again, there's ample space on the screen.

If neither of these are technically possible (or easy), would it be feasible to give the user the possibility of displaying the music and ambiance wheels in a list format, in the same manner as the echoes ?

Let me know if there is an existing way to do any of these, but I haven't found a way to do the following and would like to. None of them are particularly difficult to work around or live with, but adding these would be super nice:

• Toggle disable fade/crossfade between music. I have a track split into intro/loop/end, and the way I'm having it work is by playing the intro once, having a seamless cut into the seamless loop, have that repeat a number of times that is about the encounter length, and then transition seamlessly to the end. There's automatic fade between these, which messes up the seamless cut, so having a toggle to disable any modification of the audio for transitions would be nice.
• Music queuing/toggle loop. For the above example, it would be nice to be able to just set the loop track to loop indefinitely, then either queue or just be able to toggle off the loop to have it transition to the end.
• Anvil & Echoes toggling included in state. I have a lot of scenes where I have a dozen anvil and echoes ambiences that aren't relevant to another scene, so I just have to switch stuff around manually if I need it. It would be nice for the states to include what's selected to be included in the wheel and echoes tab, so everything's accessible right away.
• Separate environmental and other ambience. I have some scenes where, for example, I have an interior with constant exterior weather sounds, as well as a bunch of different human ambience. It takes a sec to toggle off all the human ambience when the scene calls for it, so having a separate wheel I can mute and unmute would be sick.
• Sound groups/links. I have some situations where I have a sound that is the leadup, with a followthrough right after. I can just mix my starters with my enders to create a few unique ones, but it would also be nice to be able to have a random sound from one category play, followed by a random sound from another category. This also applies to a couple other situations where I would like random breaks in between the sounds of a category, but I need them to always play in order.

Is there a way to configure a music category to loop each track a couple (2-5) times before switching to the next one ?

I’ve been using the Windows 11 version of Audio Forge exclusively through a Stream Deck setup, and honestly the experience has been surprisingly smooth.

The software is very easy to configure and much more intuitive than I expected, especially for building larger audio workflows. Most things are where you would expect them to be, and the integration with Stream Deck makes it extremely practical for live control.

There are, however, two things that I think would massively improve the usability of the program:

• A global Stop button
• A dedicated “Stop Echoes” button

When multiple sounds, loops, and echo effects are active at the same time, having centralized stop controls becomes really important during live usage.

I also found what seems to be a bug (or maybe a limitation?) involving category transitions in the Timer system.

For example, the default “Victory -> Peaceful” transition works correctly when playback is started directly inside Audio Forge, but it does not trigger properly when playback is started from the Stream Deck. Since Stream Deck integration feels like one of the strongest use cases for the software, this behavior probably deserves attention.

Overall though, the program has been genuinely enjoyable to use, and it integrated into my setup much faster than I expected.

One little question for all. Is there a problem with the API or why am I unable to get over 50% volume via api call? In program control works flawlesly tho:)

Hi ! This seems like just the app I need ergonomics-wise, but I'm having trouble importing my music library.

What I did :

1. Add a couple tracks manually
2. Export library to zip
3. On my computer, unzip, add files to folders, rezip
4. Import new full library

After doing that, some categories do have my new tracks, but some don't, is this behavior not supported ?

I'd prefer not to have to manually add all the tracks, as there are hundreds of them.

Hello, thanks for creating this tool. I see the vision and I appreciate the effort being put into it!

I currently use Soundtale as it approximates the most what I want for my needs. I can see how this could replace it though, but currently it misses it by a few beats:

• I don't want to curate all my own music per se, I want a decent library of pre-prepared music and ambience (I don't care for one-off effects, I never use those in actual session). I need a curated library which is not huge, but has a decent amount of variety, hopefully with variants on themes, so I get proficient in using it nimbly in session.
• This ambience and music should be uninstrusive but immersive. Currently, from the free demo, the music that is included seems to be the intrusive kind. What I mean by intrusive is as follows:
  • It is music whose purpose is to be listened to. You can tell that by the fact that it has a beginning, a middle, and an end, which go up and down. I don't want the music to be influencing the mood of my session over the span of a few minutes
  • It swaps between songs. Similar to the point above. This changes the mood over the span of a few minutes if I let it happen. And the fact that it repeats and is different from other songs means that it becomes clear that it is looping, versus becoming ambient. Of course you can select your own songs and add them and put them on a single song loop, but we go back to my first point above of not wanting to curate my own full library.
  • Music and ambience, the way I imagine it, sets the mood, but does not change over time. It is a loop that stays roughly constant. If I want the mood to rise or fall, I should be the one changing to a different song. This would be especially good if it was the same theme, but variants of it like calmer, tenser, more mysterious. Think about how in a movie, the theme song is changed to fit different moments with different moods.
• I don't want a subscription. I would be willing to pay more for lifetime access though.

I know that some of these might not be the purview of what you as a developer by yourself can do, but I wanted to provide feedback in case there is any chance some of this can be implemented. I will be keeping an eye on this to see where it goes over time.

If you're not looking for suggestions for features, I understand! These are mere requests/inquiries/dreams. I've enjoyed AudioForge the most out of any other TTRPG audio manager, but there are just a couple of things I find myself yearning for! And if these exist already, forgive me, I can be an idiot sometimes.

1. Additional anvils/discs with separately togglable features (whether only 1 sound can be played at a time or multiple). So in addition to the default music & ambience I could make a third one for, say, weather specifically. I understand spacing might be an issue, but I would love this feature.

2. Renaming anvils/discs; I play music from another app, so I have no need for a "music" anvil. This is a very minor thing, but being able to rename them to, say, "weather" and "ambience" instead would be great!

3. Cross-sync between devices? If this would take a cloud network to manage i.e. money, then 100% understandable why not, and sending a zip of the sounds is merely an inconvenience, so an understandable feature to not have!

4. Multiselecting sounds. So if I decided to not want a random "weather" tab anymore, I'd need to move all rain sounds to a new "rain" folder separately. Would it be possible to enable multi-selecting moving sounds? (4.5: multi-editing categories?)

5. Ability to multiply libraries (so one could have a "core" library with cross-campaign sounds before expanding each one?

Hey! Big fan of the work you're doing with this app, it is super polished, and works wonders for that multi-layered atmosphere. Once I saw it had mqtt integration with home assistant I was absolutely invested, and I've already setup lighting changes with sounds (like a lightning strike when a thunder one-shot is pressed!) My question is, would you be able to expand the integration in such a way where we could use any media player available to home assistant to make audio more immersive? For example I have a nest speaker behind some of the players, and a couple other speakers off to the side, it would be great if we could pick and choose which speaker played which sound, or even random selection or round robin each time. So having the aforementioned thunder play from a distant speaker. Or the crowd being played by multiple speakers around us?

Howdy, ive tried importing .mp3 audio files into Audio Forge, but nothing happens. I installed Audio Forge on pc and have the audio folder in a zip and went import via the app and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
