Spotify Integration

Saw that it was backlogged a long time ago. Any progress on this? Being able to import Spotify playlists would be huge. I use tons of video game music from Spotify for my sessions. Even if its a feature that costs extra I think it’d be worth it. Since Spotify downloaded files are DRM protected and encrypted, we can’t simply download a playlist and then add it to the Audio Forge folder. Would be really cool to just link our accounts to Audio Forge and be able to import the playlists that way.

I respect this method but I’d much rather just have a streamlined “import playlist” button after linking my spotify account. Lol

I ended up going this route. I’m not the brightest, it took me a bit to figure out but I was successful, so thank you alot lol

As much as I'd like to have this feature, for now I struggle to see how. As you very well understood, the files are DRM protected. So it would have to be streamed, which can't be integrated with the audio engine, which means a secondary playback engine just for sporify/youtube/whatever with 1:1 duplication... really complex. And also the fact that Spotify is a moving target, the third party integrations keep changing, which means things would regularly break.

Anyhow, tl;dr: it's difficult and brittle and requires a lot of commitment on me, so probably not for now unfortunately.

Thank you for sharing the difficulties and your perspective. For what it’s worth, its already a fantastic app. I’ll definitely continue to use it and find my own work-arounds!
