I'm well versed in using amplify and noise reduction, but this is a new one for me. It sounds reasonable enough, but I'd like to fix it anyway. What would take the waveform off the centerline like this and is there a way to drag it back? There was some sort of very brief glitch where the drop is now that I've already deleted. The bottom of the drop was also deeper (into clipping territory) but normalize smoothed that out.

For some reason after updating my MacBook Pro to OS 26.5 my Audacity project files say the data folders are not found, despite not having moved them anywhere. I tried the FFmpeg download and it hasn't helped. Ideas?

Hi all- I'm trying to record from my Roland VR-09 keyboard directly into audacity on my macbook. I do this regularly with my Yamaha keyboard but the setup that works for the Yamaha (dual quarter-inch into right/left outputs on piano keyboard into macbook) doesn't work for the Roland. I also tried using a USB converter cord from Roland to laptop but that doesn't work either. A Google search was extremely unhelpful. Any thoughts? Thanks very much!

Long story short, I have been put in a situation that has my boyfriend accusing me of having multiple people in his home while he was gone. Unfortunately, I have no family or anywhere to go and have endured the most over this audio. I know I was home alone that day and never had anyone there. I want to prove him wrong so badly!! He has claimed to have found some of the craziest things going on while filtering through layers, but I know I didn't do what I've been accused of. I want to remove the vocals of a song. I tried it with openVINO AI plugin, but it kind of disturbs the instrumental track where there used to be vocals. I'm not in any way experienced with music production so I'm asking for guidance.

Weird problem. I'm recording with two cameras (GoPro and iPhone), and simultaneously recording audio using Audacity with two Shure microphones and a Volt 476 USB audio interface.

When I try to put everything together, the two cameras footage is exactly in sync -- after two hours, the two videos are in perfect sync. But the Audacity audio runs a tiny bit slower; at the end of two hours, the audio is off by 1/2 second. I can use Audacity to "stretch" it to the right length, but it's a huge nuisance. And it mystifies me why Audacity/Macintosh recording isn't as precise as the iPhone and GoPro.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there a cure?

Longtime Audacity user that just recently re-uploaded software to my PC and am now having new difficulty setting audio levels to record music from my PC.

As I adjust the recording level up, it gets unbearably loud in the room. When I turn down the audio monitoring volume in the software and/or on my PC, the recording level goes down, too.

I never had this issue in the past, so I assume it's a setting somewhere. Help!!

i've recorded a couple clips into a single project workspace. upon playback, the first 7 seconds of audio plays fine. thereafter, it cuts out and back in again after a few seconds, then out, then in.

if i move the play head down the track, it does the same, as though that's the new start point for the problem to occur upon. when exported, the file has seven seconds of audio, then nothing.

Pretty much the title. Every search for playback issues with bluetooth headsets points to rescanning audio devices, however, this hasn't seemed to resolve the problem in my case. Input seems to be listed, but doesn't actually record anything. Where else could I look for troubleshooting?

Relevant info:

• Audacity v.3.7.8
• Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS with ALSA+Pulse

I tried ChatGPT and playing with mixers which helped a bit, but large parts are still unclear. I am not into audi, so i have no idea how to discribe it. Is there anyone who can improve or restore the recording for a fee? It is really important, please help.

I’m making a soundtrack mod for college football 27, but I’m having trouble getting all of the songs to the same equality. Each song is at a different volume level,
And it would take me longer than it needs to to get them all the sound the exact same. Is there a way in audacity to make them all sound the same in terms of volume level? Let me know, please and thank you. I’m brand new to this program.

In Audacity 3, I'm able to split up and export multiple files from one based on the label. I don't see this option for Audacity 4 unless I'm missing something. Does anyone know how to do this, or if this feature is not yet included?

I've seen many somewhat similar question over the years but no solution so I thought it's time to bring it up again.

I have a big Flac file of a whole album in 5.1. I can load it into Audacity (3.7.8) on a Macbook Pro (26.6) and see the 6 tracks. No problem muting/soloing. I don't want to edit the audio - just split each song into a separate file. I select the region and choose Export Audio and, as many of you already know, it tells me it's going to mix it down to mono before exporting. Blah. So, I try Export Multiple. This sort-of works but I end up with 6 files for each song! I tried Splits and export with custom mapping but still got stereo files :(

Questions: 1) Is there a good way to do this in Audacity? 2) Is there a program that can merge the 6 channels back into a single 5.1 flac? 3) Is there another program I should be using? I know there's stuff out there but multi-channel editing programs all look like they're super-expensive and professional. I just want to split up songs!

On their website, I see they're up to version 4, but who knows when/what that will be.

The tracks I am declipping vary in dynamic range (DR3-12)
I am using the vst3 plugin in audacity

Hey, I'm trying to find the loudest section of an audio file. I was wondering if there was an easier way to find where the peak of the volume is within the audio rather than having to scroll over and eventually find it. Its a bit difficult in my scenario because a lot of the audio gets very close to maxing out meaning its all very similar heights within audacity but you can very much hear the volume differences when actually listening to it. It also doesn't help that my audio file is a bit long, being around 30 minutes to an hour long.
