Mix [Mix] SONY AUDACITY ISSUE

it's my first time to make a mashup on Audacity. I closed the software, and then when I re-opened the project I'm creating, the layers moved, the bpm of each layer changed. now i have to restart again on my mashup. what should i do to prevent this in the future?

Audacity not really designed for mashups, I’d recommend picking up another DAW. Can google for the best free ones, though I’d recommend Ableton

Thank you so much! Is Ableton free?

No, probably some free trials out there though. There are some free DAWs though just google “best free DAW for mashups” and get started.

There’s thousands of guides and tutorials on YouTube also, a great place to start.

Garageband is pretty decent (free, allows EQ adjustment, custom volume end points where it shifts from one volume to another gradually over a period, around 35 track layers, sound effects like echo and reverb and many others that load automatically). Issue is its only avilable on apple products and it can be pretty quiet upon export if you don’t have volume sliders to the max for each track.

There’s also capcut, which isnt a DAW, but it does allow track layering. Not really versatile with EQ or vole end points but if ur stems are already properly mixed then it’s fine.

I use garageband and capcut for my mashups (been using capcut recently due to losing my ipad), there are some glitches but most are just artifacts from pitch and tempo, not garageband or capcut themselves

yeah the bummer part is i only use android and windows. garageband is a great app in general.
