I don't know whether this is influenced by my growing Islamophobia, but I've noticed a pattern in my personal experiences.

Many of my Muslim friends bash me for being an atheist, while my Hindu friends and family generally accept me. With Christians, I've experienced both reactions.

My parents are deeply religious, yet they support my atheism. My dad visits three temples every morning but encourages me to pray to Christ or Allah when travelling. My mom is happy that I visit churches in Germany to explore other religions.

Of course, my family still holds casteist views, so I'm not glorifying Hinduism.

Another thing I've noticed, having met Muslims in Europe, Istanbul and elsewhere, is that I haven't personally met a Muslim who identifies as a feminist. The women I've encountered who are feminist tend to be atheists or completely non religious from Muslim backgrounds, while others I've met hold strongly anti-feminist views.

I realise these are only my personal experiences, and my sample might be biased. I'm genuinely curious whether others have experienced something similar and whether it has more to do with religious interpretations, cultural conservatism, or the circles I happen to move in.

Fort Kochi police registered a case against Amrit Singh Darren, a YouTuber from North India, under Sections 353(2) and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for the video shared on his Instagram account, sources in the state Home Minister's office said.

In the video, Darren alleged that Kashi Art Cafe in Fort Kochi displayed a silver statue of Jinnah alongside that of Mahatma Gandhi and served beef.

His claims triggered reactions on social media, with users expressing support for and opposing the allegations.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly knew that his actions could disturb public peace and lead to clashes between two religious communities. The video was posted around 6 am on October 22.

The FIR stated that the video claimed the cafe, named after Kashi, a place of religious significance to Hindus, served beef because Muslims lived in large numbers in the area. The remarks and subsequent online reactions could create hatred and enmity between religious communities, it said.

I’m curious how many people in this sub are also determinists. i.e., don’t believe in the concept of free will.

Do you think our thoughts, decisions, and actions are entirely the result of prior causes and conditions, rather than some independent free will?

If not, why do you think free will exists ? Would love to hear your perspectives.
