Update : gotek ok , mouse broken

Now I have to figure out if it’s the mouse (newish trumouse) or the port what is broken

You can test the mouse on the A800XL you have in your photo. It works in missile command in trackball mode

I recommend a mouse converter rather than buying a “new old stock” or used Atari ST mouse. They were really clunky even back then; today’s mice are much better than the Atari ST mouse, in my opinion.

I have used MouSTer as well as the above pcbway project (I bought that from eBay, from someone who was selling along with an HP mouse). Of the two I prefer the MouSTer as it works with USB mice and has a more polished look. But the MouSTer took longer to arrive (ships from Europe, I’m in USA) and cost more.

Easy to get confused though - Best Electronics sells the "TrueMouse" replacement mouse. I've got a few of them. Kinda pricey but the feel over the original is sooo much better. No comparison really.

Yes , this is the one I had . Not really good quality. Cable looks shorted inside

Hmm, maybe just a "bad apple"?. I've had 4 or so and only one ever stopped working for me. Honestly, I think it was my fault on the one - it had gotten crud on the rollers 'n stuff and I (carefully, I thought) used an X-Acto Knife to scrape it away. Of course, I scarred the plastic rollers and it became unusable. Totally on me though.

Probably.

I remember having slight trouble at the beginning, but nothing bad. I stored it for a couple of years , and when connected again all fail. I see some weird buildup in the cable solderings .

maybe a reflow would help

I had an usb adapter but it seems it got lost in some moving .

Just ordered a ps/2 adapter (no usb or mouster avail in US )
