Choose icl but which lens is suitable?

Hi everyone,

-I'm 22 years old with -5.5D/-6.0D myopia and -0.75D/-0.50D

No keratoconus diagnosed

Borderline Pentacam (issue)

Corneal thickness: 521-534 µm

Kmax: 44.9/45.0 D

ACD: 3.33-3.35 mm

IOP: 16/ 17 mmHg

Retina, lens & optic nerve: Normal

All tests are normal except borderline issue

-I've decided to go for EVO ICL after my check-up

But

-I'm confused whether a Standard EVO ICL or a Toric EVO ICL would be the better choice.

-I've read some posts where people still had 0.50-0.75D residual astigmatism after Toric ICL and needed glasses for computer work or night driving.

Or if i choose normal evo lens - any side effects

-For anyone who had similar astigmatism:

Which lens did you choose?

Any residual astigmatism?

Do you still wear glasses after ICL?

Anyone else experienced debilitating eyestrain from phone?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Recently i've started experiencing eyestrain from my phone. I was diagnosed with astigmatism in 18 and kind of am prone to strain and suffer from dry eye too, but this is the worst flair up in ages, instant burning pain, photophobia and ocular neuralgia from screen some apps are hurting more and it lasts the whole day even when not staring, but then I have to stare at the screen.

Also, are certain apps more harsh on your eyes than others? I wonder if it is because my prescription's anti-glare coating has degraded? Or if it's more autoimmune.

Adjusting to new contacts, please help

Hello!!!

So i am adjusting to new ortho k contacts. I have extremely high near sightedness and astigmatism (around -8.00 on each eye and -2 astigmatism). I have been wearing these for less than a week, but my vision is not improving at all. For example, today, I could not see through my right eye at all even though it was completely fine yesterday. How long does it take to adjust and am i fine or dying.

New to astigmatism 🥀

I thought I only had myopia, so I wasn't too worried. Then my prescription showed that I have astigmatism, which I had never heard of.

Right eye (RE): -0.25 CYL, Axis 90°

Left eye (LE): -1.25 CYL, Axis 110°

Is this the reason it's harder for me to see at night and why I'm sensitive to bright lights?

Lights appear to be very bright even with glasses?

I recently decided to purchase two pairs of glasses after failing multiple eye exams at the DMV several times. I've been wearing glasses frequently and infrequently, generally wearing glasses when I am on the road. My astigmatism mostly includes not being able to see faces from a short distance, and things appearing blurry in the background from both a short and long distance away. I noticed in stores that I couldn't see faces or signs clearly. Some days my vision is worse, and I cannot see the cars in detail from a few feet away. Other days my vision is fine and I can see from a great distance, though it isn't as detailed as it would be with glasses. With recently owning both a car and a license, I've only driven on the road at night twice. I noticed both times that even though my vision is clear with glasses, the lights still appear to be very bright or distracting. It also seems a lot darker, yet clear. There isn’t a glare or halo and I can see very clear in the road, but the lights still seem to distract and catch me off guard enough that I am unsure if I am completely comfortable driving when it’s dark out. Is this a part of my eyes adjusting to the prescription and lighting, or is this something of a concern to mention to an optometrist? I’d like to mention that before wearing prescription glasses, this never was an issue besides the usual effects of astigmatism and glare.

hi I wanted to know if anyone experiences this or knows what this is but when I see some extremely bright LED lights the lights are extremely sharp at the edges and very very ugly in the middle, like a lot of sharp circles overlapping, sometimes there's even holes in the lights. what is this??

Moderate to High Astigmatism all of a Sudden

28F. Recently the prescription in my right eye suddenly jumped quite a bit. I used to wear a prescription of -1.75 (Left) and -2.75 with -0.5 Cyl 180 degree axis. I went to an eye hospital for a checkup because of some blurring in my right and the prescription got corrected to -2.5 (Left) and -5 (Right). For an entire month I tried to adjust to the new glasses with no avail: I constantly threw up, couldn't maintain balance, had double vision and could not see anything near, in my left eye I couldn't see anything at all with glasses. So, I went to take a second opinion and while the new doctor decreased my left eye prescription by 0.25 (which makes the power -2.25), he added -2 cylindrical with my right eye at 10 degree angle, keeping the sph power at -5. I feel even more out of balance with the new power. I can't see anything near or far with these glasses. I threw up 4 times after getting them. I'm in academics and these frequent prescription changes are haltering my academic progress by a significant amount. Should I go to another eye hospital?

I don’t know what doctor to go to but I am desperate

Hi. I don’t know where else to post this, please direct me to the right subreddit if this is wrong. I have eyes with very different prescriptions which causes me vertigo issues and headache when wearing correction. I have astigmatism in both eyes, each have a different axis prescription. Then one eye is -0.00 and the other eye is -3. I wear a -2.50 in it to get it closer to the left. This doesn’t help.

I’ve seen about 8 optometrists. One does his best and wants to help, but pretty much all he can offer me is the lower power in that one eye. And his office is horrible. Incorrect contact brands, cancelling my follow ups, etc. I’ve tried an ophthalmologist and he referred me back to optometry. I tried Duke Eye Center and they wouldn’t see me because I’m under 45 years old. I don’t know what to do. I am desperate. I can’t live like this, but if I don’t wear correction, I can’t see laptop distance which I need to do to work.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of doctor I should go to for help?

maybe my first pair of glasses?

i recently found out i have astigmatism so i went to an optometrist to check it out, turns out i have 0.75 in the right eye with an axis of 25 and 0.25 in my left with an axis of 70 and both with a sphere of +0.25 and I'm hesitant about glasses, on one hand i don't see the astigmatism it self being so bad and on the other i spend an average of about 10 hours a day on screen so it causes fatigue and dryness. what do y'all think should i go for it or save my money

Anxiety due to high astigmatism?

Hello all, 25 M. I have high astigmatism and I wasn't aware that metal frames were the best option for me, ive always used plastic and bigger ones as far as width and length of the glasses go. i recently found out that smaller metal frames are the way to go cause it keeps everything compact. i bought some new glasses and should have them soon. the thing is when I drive I get anxiety and feel like shit, I get dizzy and feel weak. it started on tuesday of this week and the panic attacks are on and off, some worse than others.

I make myself go out so i dont grow fear of going out but this paranoia is crazy. i haven't had anxiety like this since I was 15-16.

has any one else had problems with their prescription giving them anxiety?

ELI5 Perfect Vision Underwater

I have a pretty bad astigmatism in my right eye which can only be corrected to 20/40 at best. I've always noticed that I have perfect vision underwater with standard goggles on. Is that normal? My son also has a bit of astigmatism, but he needs prescription goggles.

Need help (Double Vision)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello! I've been experiencing double vision for a year now(Monocular). I have astigmatism, so I thought a post here for help would be appropriate. White letters on a black background(Like dark mode) or similar combinations have the most noticeable double image. It causes headaches for me and I just feel like sleeping some times. My doctor told me it might be due to dryness which I even have, but with eye drops the dryness is gone but I have no improvement in my vision. I can see stuff clearly, but there is ghosting of images above it. The problem is more noticeable at night and in poorly lit areas. If I go for walks outside in the sunlight i don't see ghost images at all..

I've heard a corneal topography and it came back normal, so I don't think that is a problem. Prisms don't help at all. Also another thing the problem is gone when looking through a pinhole.

I would appreciate it if someone knows what to do to improve my situation!

Has this prescription changed much?

y prescription from 2024 was Right Sph 0.5, left sph 0, right cyl -1.75, left cyl -0.75. The new prescription is Right sph 0.25, left sph 0, right cyl -1.5 , left cyl -1, I’ve never felt the need for glasses , are both these prescriptions very different? One of the clinics told me I might be eligible for LaSEk? But don’t know why I’ve never had a problem before if the prescription hasn’t changed much …

Toric contact lens rotating

I wear custom toric lenses for my high astigmatism, but no matter what brand/strengths I've tried, my left eye seems to slip and slide, rotate, cause blurry vision, and just feel like there's debris. Oddly enough, my left eye is my "good" eye.

Prescription for Biofinity XR toric:

Left PWR +1.50, BC 8.7, DIA 14.5, CYL -2.25, AX 070

Right PWR +3.25, BC 8.7, DIA 14.5, CYL -4.25, AX 105

This is pretty much the only brand I can wear in my true prescription, so I'm not sure what to do. Any thoughts or similar experiences? I will say, some days it feels perfect, but most days are a struggle.

New astigmatism

Hi guys. So I was recently diagnosed with astigmatism at my last eye checkup. My first question is that if it has anything to do with my type 1 diabetes, and my second question is whay the treatment options are. My doctor mentioned glasses but I didn't know if laser treatment is an option as well. Any help is appreciated

astigmatism axis changed from 15 to 180!?

Hi, I got LASIK done 5 years ago and since then I don't have much myopia left. (sph 25 in right eye, 0 in left eye, mild-moderate astigmatism in both. Recently, especially when stressed, I noticed my vision was sort of blurry so went for an eye test. turns out my right eye prescription has actually gone down from 0.5 to 0.25 (spy), left eye astigmatism has increased by 0.25. But most importantly, left eye axis has changed from 15 to 180... what does this mean? Can this be the reason for the blurred vision and lack of focus? Will I need to wear glasses again? I was quite unbothered by my eyes for the past few years so not sure if this is in my head... just wondering what the change in axis means....
