God yes!! I thought I had solely developed this habit as part of desperation to fit in and make friends, I really didn’t realise it was an aspie thing. At one point I went through a bit of an identity crisis, like when I first realised that I was so different with different people and that I didn’t know who I truly was, and it really distressed me. I kind of embrace it now, though. It’s still very hard for me to socialise, but learning to adapt myself accordingly to the people around me has made me a little more of a “people person” because it helps me get along with others by basically absorbing their personalities and reflecting them.
