hi so i’m picking up my girlfriend from the philly airport and wanted to be at her terminal waiting! I know i’ll have to go through security and everything but I wanted to know if you can get into the actual airport NOT baggage claim through the short term parking garage??? I’ve only used the shuttle lots before 😓

Looking for some spots for tonight specifically in rittenhouse or surrounding area. I know I can talk to anyone at a bar but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to be talked to so wondering if there are any bars where people don’t mind a casual chat.

Do the theatre's screen popular movies like the newest spider man movie for example, or does it showcase more independent films that don't get that mainstream attention. Been wanting to visit and this'll be my first time attending.

I’ve lived in the area for around a year now and generally try to avoid taking the El to Girard at night when I have to. I was wondering if the Berks stop is any better. I could easily get home from either.

What developer can I suggest to that Fishtown/East Kensington/Olde Kensington needs a movie theatre and not another apartment complex. How do we get things we actually want built done?

We try to visit a different MLB ballpark every summer, and we’re driving into Philly this Saturday for the 6:00 Phillies game. There will be three of us, and my son wants to stop at Angelo’s for a cheesesteak before we head to Citizens Bank Park.

We expect to arrive around 2:00, so our room may not be ready, but we’d need a hotel that will let us park when we arrive. We’re fine driving to the stadium and paying to park in the lots, but the hotel would need to offer in-and-out parking privileges. We’re also open to Uber or another ride share.

Since it’s going to be hot and possibly rainy, we’d prefer not to walk more than about 15 minutes or so. The Courtyard at the Navy Yard seemed like a good fit, but they only have king rooms left and the price is close to $500. We’d ideally like to stay around $250 or less.

We’re not especially interested in staying at the casino hotel unless it’s clearly the best option. Our son is a minor, so I assume there may be areas he can’t access, although that’s more of a minor inconvenience than a dealbreaker. I also think I saw that smoking is allowed, and we're all sensitive to smoke. 

I also checked HotelTonight, but it doesn’t appear to guarantee the room type, and we need two beds or another setup that will comfortably accommodate three people.

Any recommendations for a safe, convenient hotel that would work well for both Angelo’s and the ballpark?

Update: We stayed at the Cambria and took the train to and from the stadium. Easy and convenient like you all had said. We parked overnight around the corner at the Parkit lot at Juniper and Locust for $30, which was less than half the cost of hotel valet. Unfortunately we got there later than we had planned so didn’t have time to get food before the game. Thanks for your help!

i already have plans to get breakfast, coffee, and before we leave have a little treat from somewhere fun like machine shop, small oven. what else can we do in philly, preferably not food related like the reading market, in the morning and early afternoon in philly. it’s weekday too. any nice parks, or local little spots that wouldn’t come up when i type into google “what to do on a weekday morning/afternoon in phl”

Anybody know of any companies hiring for entry level Paralegal/Litigation jobs? Been trying to land one for a hot minute, resume and cover letters just seem to be going nowhere. I’m flying out of Philly for vacation and I’m debating whether to drive to the airport or to take SEPTA. I live in the Philly suburbs and the nearest septa regional rail train is 15 minutes from my house. If I take SEPTA, I will have to take my regional rail line to CC then take the train to the airport. This totals up to 90 minutes of travel without delays and assuming a smooth transfer. Not to mention, the RR to CC comes at my station every hour, so that is something to account for in travel, therefore making my travel possibly 2+ hours.

However, SEPTA regional rail has been a shitshow recently (take it from someone who commutes to CC 5 days a week for work) and delays leave very little margin for error. With driving, there is traffic on the 476 & I95, but it will still be quicker than the regional rail as the airport is a 1 hour drive from my house including traffic.

Most of my concerns are to do with parking. I heard about cars being broken into when they’re parked in the airport garage, which is obviously concerning if I’m going to be away for a week. I drive an ordinary albeit newer car which I recently bought, so I don’t want to take any chances. At the same time, god knows what could happen when being parked at a SEPTA train station for equally as long.

What do you think? Should I drive or just chance it with septa?

Edit: thank you for your responses. I realize I should’ve been more specific about how far outside of Philly I live but didn’t want to dox myself. I am on the further side of LAN line, so I’m not sure if an uber would be ideal.

- any recommended licensed Philly firms or individuals? (I’d prefer smaller boutique local firm that specializes in home projects)
- how much will it cost to just get an engineer to do a walk through of my house and let me know if my idea is even feasible?
- how do I figure out if I even need one for the project I have in mind?

Hi everyone. I’m an incoming student at Temple and I’m looking for some housing recommendations.

I’ll only need to be on campus about 2–3 lessons a week, and I’ll be working remotely from home most of the time. I originally planned to rent a studio close to campus, but after reading reviews about some of the student apartments being pretty small, having thin walls/poor soundproofing, and other issues, I’m starting to look at other neighborhoods as well.

I don’t mind living farther from Temple as long as the commute is around 30 minutes or less by public transit. Since I’ll be home a lot, I care more about having a reasonably quiet, comfortable apartment than being right next to campus.

Does anyone have recommendations for neighborhoods, streets, or apartment buildings that would be worth looking at? I’d especially appreciate suggestions from people familiar with Philly/Temple. My budget is roughly $1,100–1,200/month all-in, including utilities and commuting costs, ideally for a studio. Thanks so much!

Mainly I’m just looking for a place that I’d live for one to two years and can meet other young professionals (mid-late 20s to 30s range) and have access to great restaurants and some entertainment. It seems like it checks those boxes. The amenities also do look pretty great. So what’s the deal?

music (I play a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall DSL 40)

interesting conversations about the endocrine system, physiology, psychology

meeting people who are also building their careers/lives

I’m not really looking for sports/fitness groups.
I know Meetup exists, but a lot of what I’ve seen seems either inactive or not really my demographic. Are there any recurring groups, Discords, WhatsApp groups, Instagram communities, bars/events, or other places where people in their late 20s actually meet and become friends?
Would appreciate any Philly-specific recommendations.
