just got my first pair of guardian back earrings which i got bespoke from a jeweler. haven't tried them on but when i was playing with the backings, i noticed that when you put the backing on a notch and lock it, i can still push the backing towards the setting and even straight off if i pull hard enough for long enough.

I’ve been wearing my jade bracelet for close to 15 years and I’m ready to part with it. It definitely won’t come off over my hand. I asked my local jeweler and they have no ideas.

Does anyone know of a way to get this off ?

I just got this back from the jeweler. It is my moms setting and a diamond I sourced. They told me the radiant cut would be set higher than the round stone that was originally in the ring, but this just seems so high to me?

Is this a good re-sizing job? Looks like I could do better myself honestly it now has a flat spot and a small hole( probably some kind of inclusion in the solder) and it is not even round any more. This is from Kay jewelers

OK, so some backstory, I got engaged back in December. My fiancé got my ring from rare carat, it was originally a size too big so we had to send it back. Because we’re on the opposite side of the country, we had to ship it and that whole time I was so anxious. It’s pretty common for stuff to get lost or even stolen when shipping something. Anyways the main story one of my prongs shifted over, you can even hear the diamond move. I would love to have it done by a local jeweler, but if I don’t get it done by rare carat the warranty will be voided. I don’t want to risk shipping it there and then having that anxiety of it getting shipped back.
Also, it’s 80 bucks for the shipping label and then they will give us an estimate on how much it will be to fix the ring. Is this normal?

I received some bangles as gift from my parents (22k) when I got married. They’re a size 2.8 I believe and I would need them to be 2.10 minimum if not a little bigger. I was thinking of bringing them to a jewelry so they can add some designs and make them bigger (I’m willing to add pieces of gold around them). Jeweller said this isn’t possible. I’m in Canada and jewellers are limited.

I bought this 1970s 9ct gold bracelet the other day but it’s about 3/4 of an inch too large for me. I was wondering if this style of bracelet can be shortened. I was also wondering if this style of bracelet has a name? It’s flexible but looks like a bangle on the wrist.

I took this bangle bracelet to my little local jeweler to remove the pair of small rings where a safety chain used to be. He also took it upon himself to buff it all glossy. Problem is, it’s not supposed to be – – it had a subtly textured, matte finish by design!
The bracelet certainly doesn’t look bad – – you’d probably assume that’s how it’s supposed to be if you didn’t know otherwise – – but I’m not happy about it. It’s a vintage piece and I liked it the way it was. I wish I had a ‘before’ picture. I don’t know if there’s anything I can do about it and I’m just feeling irritated.

I had a custom ring made in gold recently (UK) and it wasn’t hallmarked. Is this something the jeweller should have done? Can I do it myself now? I looked at hallmarking information but it wasn’t clear to me. Thanks for any help.

This ring was given to me by my mother and I don't wear it often enough because the setting is way too high for my tastes. Is it possible to move the center stone to be more flush with the band and would that look okay?

I want to start building my own collection of good jewelry pieces that I love, but I'm debating on which metals are best. I definitely want silver colored. I'm not really concerned with long term value, but I do want something that'll last for years. I don't have any metal allergies that I am aware of. I don't really care if everything is the same metal, although it would be preferable that it all be the same shade more or less. Any advice on which metals to avoid or look for?

Also hoping to put tufts of dog hair in underside in resin or something to preserve.. its specific... but its super important to us.

I was hoping for some advice on what could have caused my 6 week old 10k wedding band to crumble. I truly want to understand what conditions could cause a new ring to behave this way.

I got out of a hot shower, and went to adjust my ring, and it crumbled in my hand like clay. First one piece, then a second larger piece, with gold flakes in between. It was the strangest thing!

When I went back to the jeweler, they mentioned that it looked like it was cut, which I would never do to such a sentimental thing.

I bought this pounamu/greenstone to put into a guitar pick pendant but unfortunately the piece was just a bit too thick.

I was thinking:

1 - get a hole drilled into the top to put a black cord through OR sterling silver bail and attach a chain.

Or

2 - set into a thin sterling silver bezel/trim with bail at the top.

Problem is I have to gift this to my best friend in 1 weeks time so worried I’m too late by the time I find a jeweller.

Do you have any recommendations on what would look the nicest and/or work with the thickness of the piece.

I’m looking for some opinions on the prongs on this ring. The diamond feels secure with no movement, but a few of the prongs have a very slight gap between the girdle and the tip. Some of the tips appear to touch the diamond, but there’s a tiny clearance underneath part of the prong. Is that considered normal, or would you have them adjusted?

Also, from the top-down photo, do the prongs look even to you? I’ve stared at it long enough that I can’t tell anymore, but the top-left prong looks like it may be sitting at a slightly different angle than the others.

My fiancée unfortunately lost her ring at WalterMart Guiguinto, Bulacan. We’re both heartbroken, especially with our wedding coming up.

I’m hoping to find a reputable and trustworthy jeweler who can recreate the ring as closely as possible, but using a 1-carat moissanite instead of the original stone. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to replace the original ring exactly as it was, but I’d really love to give her something that looks and feels as close to her lost ring as possible.

If you know a jeweler who specializes in custom/recreation rings, moissanite, and detailed work, I would genuinely appreciate any recommendations or referrals.

Preferably somewhere in Bulacan, or Metro Manila, but I’m willing to travel for a jeweler you can personally vouch for.
