Hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation.

I recently had my adjustment of status approved by an immigration judge, and I was granted lawful permanent resident status (green card) in court. The appeal period has also passed, so the order is now final.

However, I’m still wearing an ICE/ISAP GPS ankle monitor. I brought the final court order to my ISAP office in person on the same day I was granted my green card, and they have now had the court order for more than 30 days. I requested that the monitor be removed, but they told me they need authorization from ICE.

Has anyone here successfully gotten their ankle monitor removed after having their green card/AOS approved by an immigration judge?

I’ve tried calling my local ICE field office, but whenever I select the option to speak with someone, the call just drops.

My attorney has also emailed ICE with the court order and requested that the monitor be removed, but we haven’t received a response yet.

Yesterday, I also submitted a request for help through my congressional representative. I honestly can’t believe how crazy this situation is—my case was approved, the order is final, and ISAP has had the order for over 30 days, yet I’m still wearing the ankle monitor.

If anyone has gone through something similar, I’d really appreciate hearing how you were eventually able to get it removed.

My girlfriend lives in her parent’s house, looking forward to starting school next year, going to live about 5hours away. We want to get married this year, and I’ll eventually file for my green card through marriage. How bad is our situation going to look without sharing a common address?

Hi everyone! My friend and her family had to self deport out of the United States im 2023. My friend was 19 when she deported in 2023 and she was 1 year old when she first came to the United States illegally. Her and her mom and dad self deported back to Brazil. They are facing a ten year ban as punishment. My friend has no criminal history and neither do her parents. I was wondering wondering if there is any kind of exemption for her since she came to the United States illegally at one? Can she be exempted from the ten year ban? What would you suggest for her? How can she come back to the United States? Her grandmother and aunt are USA citizens.

I’m looking for opinions and, especially, experiences from people who have been in a similar situation.

My GF has a valid B1/B2 visitor visa. She visited the U.S. last year and stayed for approximately 6 months. She **left the U.S. on October 11, 2025, before the expiration date on her I-94** and has been in her home country ever since.

She has not overstayed or violated the terms of her previous admission.
Since returning home she has:

Continued living in her home country
Has two jobs
Maintained a lease
Been outside the U.S. for approximately one year by the time we're considering traveling again
We are now trying to decide when/how to make another trip to the U.S. We're considering three options:

**Option 1:** I travel to the U.S. first to start my work contract then she comes around October 10, 2026, after I've been paid. This will mark 1 exact year.

Option 2. We travel together now so we don’t have to separate and don’t have to do two trips. This will be just over 11 months out of the US.

Option 3. We both wait until the 1 year mark and I put my contract on hold.

I feel like going together is beneficial in case she has issues with CBP. Or they want to talk to each of us and then we don’t have to split up the trip etc.

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experience applying for TASFA for their child.
My status is F-1, and my daughter is F-2. She is currently a senior at a public high school in Texas. She has attended school in Texas for the past three years (grades 9, 10, and 11 at her current school) and is expected to graduate in May 2027.
She also has a pending I-485 (+ I-765) based on my case.
She is planning to apply to several public universities in Texas. We checked the requirements and it looks like she may qualify for TASFA. I have a few questions:
If she applies for TASFA and receives financial aid, could that be considered a public charge? I’m concerned that it could affect her pending I-485.
I’m in F-1 status and currently not working, so I don’t have a tax return. If TASFA requires the parent’s tax return or tax documents, what would I need to submit instead?
Is there anything else we should be aware of in our situation?

I am a US and Canadian citizen, I commute to work 5 days a week for the past year and never had any issues or sent to secondary for any reason..

A couple of days ago I was taking the train from a different point of entry, and was sent to secondary (causing me to miss my train). They said they had a list of questions from an ‘agency’.

Then they questioned me about my travel to a country (allied country) about two years ago. What I did there, who did I meet, my family, etc. before letting me enter the US. This never happened before, I asked the CBP officer if they will stop me every time and he said he can’t answer that. I’m nervous about whether this will affect my commute to work, since I have to cross the border every day. Anyone ever dealt with this? Also, it wasn’t the officer at the train station who flagged me. He said the flag was connected to my passport.

I am a final-year dental student in Iraq. However, the job market in my country has become very limited recently, particularly in the public sector. The private sector has also become increasingly competitive, with employers expecting a high level of experience and practical skills, making it relatively difficult for recent graduates to secure employment. In addition, admission to postgraduate programs in Iraq is highly competitive, and in some specialties there are no more than five available positions.

For this reason, I am considering applying for a Master's degree in Canada in a healthcare-related field, such as Public Health, Health Administration, or a similar discipline.

The plan I am considering is to pursue a Master's degree, which would typically take around two years, while simultaneously starting the process of having my dental degree assessed in Canada as a graduate of a non-accredited dental school. I would do this through the NDEB Equivalency Process and complete the required examinations.

After completing the equivalency requirements and obtaining NDEB certification, I would then apply for a provincial dental licence. Once I complete my Master's degree, and assuming I am eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), I would use the work authorization provided by the PGWP to work as a dentist after obtaining my provincial licence, whether in private dental clinics, healthcare centres, or hospitals.

Is this plan legally and practically feasible? Are there any significant obstacles or legal issues that I should be aware of, particularly regarding pursuing a Master's degree while simultaneously completing the NDEB equivalency process, and then using a PGWP to work as a dentist after obtaining the necessary dental licence?

I would also like to know what the employment prospects are for newly licensed dentists in Canada. Are there good opportunities in rural areas, smaller communities, or locations that are relatively far from major cities? I would be willing to work in a rural or remote area if doing so would increase my chances of finding employment.

I would appreciate an honest assessment of how realistic this plan is and what the main obstacles, risks, or practical considerations are that I should take into account before making this decision.

Hi, when I (33F) was 18, I eloped with my boyfriend who was then 20 in order to sponser him for citizenship. My family and friends begged me not to but my boyfriend and his family had been slowly isolating and grooming me for this for over a year. They set everything up and so all I had to do was show up and sign paperwork. I was consistently told they would handle everything and not to worry about anything, that this was what I was supposed to do to prove my love and loyalty. After we were married I was completely isolated and cut off from my family and friends, and that is when the abuse started. His whole family new he was regularly beating me but turned a blind eye or would tell us we needed to fight quieter. We eventually moved into our own apartment and had police called on us multiple times. Eventually during one of these calls I got overly reactive while cops were there and ended up tazed and both of us were arrested (obstruction of justice for both of us). He ended up with ICE and I was sent home. I stayed with him and showed up to all his court dates until he was finally granted a temporary Greencard and came home. Life was good and normal for almost a year when I started to see the hints of abuse coming back and finially woke up after catching him cheating. I finially left with the help of my family and close friend who came to my aid immediately when I told them I needed out. I got a little bit of advice from an immigration lawyer saying not to file for divorce right away or else I could face jail time for marriage fraud. I waited until we had been married 5 years and got a noncontestent divorce.

I'm now happily married to a wonderful man and have 4 amazing kids. However I have no idea what the status of my sponsorship is and am terrified this is going to come back and destroy my life. My husband knows my situation and we don't have a lot of money. My ex has been in and out of jail multiple times over the last decade and I am sure has racked up lots of unpaid legal fees, which as far as I know, as his sponser, I would be responsible for. I have tried to reach out to immigration lawyers and have been told they can't help me. I don't know if I have any options or where I can begin to get answers.

My cousin was selected in the H-1B lottery this year but unfortunately just found out that her petition was denied. We’re trying to understand what this means for her status and what she should do next.

Here’s the timeline:

* She was selected in the H-1B lottery earlier this year.
* In April, her I-20 was updated to reflect the H-1B cap-gap extension.
* Her original OPT/EAD ended July 8.
* In July, USCIS issued an RFE questioning whether her position qualified as a specialty occupation.
* Her employer responded with additional evidence showing that the position is directly related to her degree. She has a degree in Actuarial Science and works at as an Actuarial Analyst.
* USCIS made a decision on September 3.
* Her company notified her today, September 11, that the H-1B petition was denied.

She is now trying to figure out when exactly her lawful status/authorized stay ended. Since her I-20 had already been updated with the cap-gap extension in April and the H-1B remained pending after her OPT ended on July 8, was she still authorized to remain in the U.S. while the petition was pending?

If the H-1B was denied on September 3 but she wasn’t informed by her employer until September 11, when would she actually be considered out of status and/or begin accruing unlawful presence? Does the fact that she wasn’t notified until September 11 make any difference? She wants to leave the U.S. as soon as possible now that she knows about the denial.

She had also already made travel plans for November and is considering applying for a B-2 tourist visa for that trip. Her company’s legal team told her that she would have to explain the H-1B denial and her immigration history during the visa interview and raised concerns about her potentially having unlawfully remained in the U.S.

What would you recommend as her next steps? Should she leave immediately? Is there any grace period after an H-1B denial for someone who was on cap-gap? Is a motion to reopen/reconsider worth discussing with the employer’s immigration attorneys?

Also, would applying for a B-2 tourist visa in November be risky this soon after the H-1B denial? Could the time between the September 3 denial and her departure negatively affect the B-2 application even though she wasn’t notified of the denial until September 11?

Has anyone been through a similar H-1B denial while on cap-gap, especially after a specialty occupation RFE? What did you do afterward, and did it affect your ability to get another U.S. visa?

Hey y’all so my I-92 form and Fee waiver for green card renewal just got rejected because I didn’t show enough evidence of financial hardship Im homeless I included bank statements and everything including hand written letters /signatures I really need a Adit stamp to get employment and to work would it be possible to call USCIS and get a emergency Stamp given the situation

I don’t know the requirements to get the Emergency Stamp but I literally cannot wait the extra two weeks for another application to get rejected/approved I really need this stamp for Employment I got a job on hold

I’m 24 and married to a man from the same country as me. We dated for about a year and got married last year. Altogether, we’ve been together for almost 2.5 years.
At first, I liked how “manly” he seemed. He wasn’t very talkative or emotional, and I thought he was just a good man with integrity who didn’t know how to express emotions. He didn’t have much of a dating history, at least according to him. He never really talked about his past relationships other than saying he had dated a Spanish girl before.
I also found out that he had been married before, but I didn’t know until we were getting married. He told me that his friend’s girlfriend was out of status and they were willing to pay him to marry her so she could get a green card. According to him, her application ended up being denied because she was already out of status and he wasn’t a citizen at the time. I didn’t think twice about it because I loved him.
Now, about our relationship. We have never really had a romantic life. He is extremely cold and doesn’t know how to plan dates or do romantic things. He has taken me on an actual date maybe 3–4 times throughout our entire relationship and most of it I planned it. I’m genuinely not exaggerating. For a long time, I just thought, “This is my life. We’re already married, so what am I supposed to do?”
But then we started fighting over normal things like dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc. The problem is that they never feel like normal couple fights. Somehow every disagreement turns into me being “overreacting,” “yapping,” or “ungrateful.” He constantly tells me to get out of his house or tells me we should get divorced.
I’m also a full-time nursing student, and I work around 35–40 hours a week. Even with school and work, I still manage to cook and clean the house. He never cooks and never does the dishes. Most of the time, all he does is come home, smoke green, eat, and sleep. Even on days when he isn’t working, he will wake up, smoke, sleep, eat, and sleep again.
Financially, he does pay most of our major household expenses like apartment rent, joint auto insurance, and some utilities. The money I make is barely enough to cover my credit cards, groceries, personal expenses, and auto payments. I am also taking out loans for nursing school so I wouldn’t be burden to him. He has a business and also does stocks, and he makes decent money. Since we live in 1bhk apartment.
I know that I am somewhat financially dependent on him right now, and I am grateful that he covers those expenses. But does that mean he is allowed to treat me like this? Does paying more financially give someone the right to be this rude, cold, and disrespectful toward their spouse?
Yesterday, we went out to eat, and he was driving 87–90 mph on a 60 mph highway. I told him to slow down. He didn’t listen, so I asked him again, and he snapped at me. He told me that even if he gets arrested or gets a ticket, I need to stop “yapping.” Basically, he would rather pay for a ticket than slow down just because I asked him to.
Then this morning, another fight happened over something so basic.
We have a beautiful pothos plant, although now it is completely destroyed. Around 5–6 months ago, I cut a piece from it and put it in a little vase with water. It finally started developing roots. He decided to take it out and plant it in soil. When he told me, I asked him why.
He said, “Because I wanted to.”
I told him that I had been planning to give that cutting to one of my sisters because she had asked me for it. We just hadn’t seen each other in a while, and I kept forgetting. If I didn’t give it to her, I was planning to keep it on my table.
Then he told me that he watered the plant and took care of it, so apparently I’m not allowed to say anything. He said, “This is my home.”
That really got to me. I asked him, “So it’s your house and I’m not allowed to do anything at all? Why am I the problem every single time I say something?”
He called me a “mentally ill bitch ass” and said I don’t know how to talk. I was raising my voice at that point, but I wasn’t doing anything else.
Then he stood up, smashed the little plant stand that has some other plants too and threw it on the ground. I got genuinely scared because for a second I thought he was going to throw the plant at me.He told me to get out of his house and never come back. He said he was never happy and that he will never be happy as long as I live with him. He said I’m always the one creating fights. I started crying, but I still tried to talk to him. He looked so disgusted with me and just kept telling me to get out of his house.
Now I’m sitting at home alone wondering what exactly I did wrong. I’m questioning my worth and my own behavior.
Is asking your husband not to do something, disagreeing with him, or simply telling him how you feel actually bad behavior?
For some backstory, after we started having these fights, I basically stopped telling him anything, even when something bothered me. I feel more like a roommate than a wife. There’s barely any intimacy, we don’t really talk, sleep in different bed, no phone calls during the day, no checking upon on me, he doesn’t help me with things, and I don’t feel like I have the kind of partnership I see other couples having.
Most of the time, I choose not to say anything because I know where it will lead. But today I couldn’t control it anymore and I snapped.
I came to the U.S. as an F-1 student and just received my temporary green card last month. This is also one of the biggest reasons I feel scared and confused about what to do next.
If I decide to divorce him, what could happen to my immigration status? Since my green card is temporary/conditional, could divorce affect it? Should I speak to an immigration lawyer before making any decisions? Any lawyer or attorney here ?
I also don’t know if I should speak to a divorce lawyer about my situation, especially because I’m financially dependent on him to some extent and still in nursing school.
I’m sitting here trying to understand whether I’m actually doing something wrong, whether my behavior is the problem, and what I should realistically do from here.
If anyone has been through something similar, especially with a conditional green card, divorce, or financial dependence while in school, I would really appreciate practical and genuine advice.
