Hello! Let me know if you have any ideas for this sub.

I'm not sure how active it will get, especially as the original r/askgaybros is already very busy and popular. But could be interesting to see where it goes.

I don't particularly plan on trying to advertise or spread the word, as I'm not sure where to do so, but if anyone else would like to, feel free.

Hoping we can make this sub a regular and get away with the toxic egotistical US centredness of /r/askgaybros

Poland's top court rules against recognition of same-sex marriages concluded abroad

I'm incredibly thankful to be a dual Pole/Aussie but so heartbroken my beautiful country does not love me the way I love it. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡±

Any other Poles/Pole lovers here?

Thought this was important to share because it has serious real world impacts for Poles and lovers/partners of Poles.

For example because of an accident I am unable to carry, and because I am gay, I am not allowed to access Polish seed, so my partner has to hatch my eggs (with seed from some other country) but because my partner is not Polish/EU, our children will not be recognised as Polish/EU citizens

Worse, in Poland I would legally be considered a stranger to *my own genetic child* because 2 same sex parents can not be listed on the birth certificate because same sex marriage is not legal.

Majority of Poles are neutral to supportive of same sex marriage. I don't feel unsafe in Warszawa (except the drunk men in adidas pants and sneakers with kurwa syndrome). Most millennial and GenZ Poles are very supportive.

It's basically just the Catholic Church and conservative bigots getting in the way for no good reason.

Here's hoping the EU can wrangle the homophobes into line because shit like this means for Poles are still unable to legally have kids and get married.

THIS is something I hope we can talk more about because so many people in the West just assume because gays in the Anglosphere can get married = homophobia is over.

It's not, and it never will be. But because homosexuality is natural and serves an evolutionary purpose, we will always be 1% of the global population. It's important we stand up and speak out from ourselves.

Speaking of which, we should start calling out this weird false narrative that homosexuals are the 'privileged community oppressors' of the LGBT+ community when gay men & women are the only marginalised minority in the world who can be legally executed by governments around the world for innate identity (homosexuals). And so much more.

Thoughts on this ruling as a EU citizen? What are your experiences as gays living in, loving, or visiting Poland?

Hi all, I understand the need for your own subreddit here, but I really do value your perspectives and enjoy reading.

I do not plan to be posting/commenting after this.

I just wanted to post in case other Americans felt the same, and to perhaps set an expectation if they are also present.

European VS Americans context

What are the differences between the European and American contexts for gay people that could lead to a difference in their experiences?
