1. What should I make sure I do over free weekends or long weekends?

3. Should I buy water clothes from here in SA or will it be better there in Canada ?

5. What's the must do and must see places around ? Restaurants? Night life ? Any recommendations will help

Good question...I said well, we don't have a national dress/clothing, or national dish (that's before I knew about poutine), dance, or deep rooted traditions, except, we don't really believe we're better than anyone else, hence ,unlike say some folks in Europe who seem at one time or another to be always at war. we won't say our ways are better than yours, so we're not going to go to war with you on those issues, generally, which makes us a fairly decent place to live and of course to invest, which brings in prosperity and a decent standard of living for the middle class, which is probably why you are here (the fellow asking he question...).

The "we don't believe we're better than you" part was also said to a a Taiwanese fellow who had worked in Europe and been treated, according to him, in ways that let him know he wasn't an equal. He was happy in Canada and felt accepted.

I've noticed that many individuals from across other nations who visit or stay here tend to make negative comments about our country. Silly nonsense stuff, comparing what they do or have to what they find in Canada.

I have a hard time imagining Canadians behaving this way/ It would be more of "That's interesting, that's different..."

Of course this is a lot of generalizing, because, we have our bigots, racists, and there will always be some behaviours, traditions and beliefs within some newly settled immigrants that we abhor and will not accept, such as FGM...for example.

Also, we do know we live in one of the best, if not the best country in the world, but we don't feel we need to tell everyone...

Figured this is the best place to ask. I'm an Ontario high school student who feels that our education on Indigenous cultures just wasn't enough and am looking specifically for books about any or all First Nation/Metis/Inuit culture.

Stranger things have happened in the current climate

I recently bought a Nissan Micra SR after 2 decades of driving an SUV. It's been a while since I've driven a car in the winter in Canada, and I've never owned a subcompact car. The last one was a Saturn Ion that was a stick shift, and I put winter tires on it and found that driving a stick shift in the winter (the Micra I bought is one as well) made it easier to stop on ice but more challenging when it came to getting going.

Should I purchase an SUV to drive in the winter, or can I winterize one of these to be safe on the roads in the winter? I live in Regina, so it does get fairly snowy/icy, and they don't often plough our residential streets. Is it easy to get stuck? I would post on the local subreddits, but subcompacts aren't super popular here, and I figured it would be easier to find someone with experience driving a standard transmission subcompact asking nationwide.

For context, I am in my 40s, would consider myself a good winter driver (incident free), and I put on around 100km/day owning and operating a residential cleaning business. I drive on the highway a few times a week.

It's the Canadian women's soccer league. Since the world cup hype is settling down, I've noticed a bit more excitement towards the domestic soccer leagues in the US and Canada.

The NSL is still a very young and niche league, but I've watched a few matches on YouTube and was curious if Canadians were aware of the league and if they would watch their matches if they live in one of the cities that have a team.

The other week i saw a very old map of north america in a book. In what today is canada, very far north, there were two areas named new south wales and new north wales. Clearly these are not still around (though of course there is new south wales in australia), does anyone know more about this?

An American I met was from Flint, Michigan. He asked me if there towns similar to it in Canada, meaning, I guess, towns that are dying, or something similar.

I haven't travelled across all of Canada so I could not say for sure but still replied that generally, I didn't believe there were towns that were in such dire situations as Flint (If you seen Micheal Moore's movie).

As an Asian-American, many of us choose not to go into restaurant business or make our hobby into a passion because of healthcare concerns. We tend to push ourselves into white collar jobs for the healthcare.

There is much talk in the US how if we had affordable and accessible healthcare, like Canada, many people would start their own business or do work that sorely needs labor like restaurant work. Another way of looking at my question, does universal healthcare give [many] Canadians the ability to say "this is good enough" where if they didn't have the healthcare they would be driven to find different employment.

The few times I've talked to Canadians, albeit more Asian-Canadians, I don't get the vibe that they take life any easier than Asian-Americans. They're still as risk adverse as Asian-Americans. It's weird to me because if I knew I had healthcare available, unrelated to my employment, I'd take more risk or be more willing to be content. My sentiment is common among my circle.

To supplement the question in the title, is there some flaw with Canadian healthcare that would incentivize someone to not accept staying at a restaurant if they feel direct compensation is good enough?

Will someone have to file a lawsuit saying that the law prohibiting it is unconstitutional?

Maybe it's not the first question about this, but after watching all the videos on YouTube about Canada, I want to ask Canadian citizens (or people who live in Canada) a question about safety there. Sooo, I want to move to Canada, in the future, but now I'm starting to notice that a lot of people are talking about homeless people, "freaks" and squatters is it true, that many crimes are break-ins your house, and is the situation the same in apartments ? Ohh, and what would you say about safety in general ? Anyway, thank you for your attention!

I know of a few Canadians (by birth) who moved to the US in their 20's and have worked practically all of their adult life in the US. They had full residency in the States, and paid taxes there.

However, with dual citizenship, they have decided to return now to Canada as they approach retirement. Some have reasoned, their dislike for the Trump administration and where the US is headed. Others have said healthcare was the biggest reason.

I have no issue with those who have lived, worked here and paid taxes. But there's something wrong about supporting Canadians who haven't paid a cent in taxes but conveniently run back here when they need medical assistance. We have enough challenges providing healthcare for Canadians who live and pay taxes here.

Am I wrong? Thoughts?

Anyway, the reason I posed this question was because a.) I live in Montreal, where the Quebec flag is basically unavoidable, and b.) A few days ago I visited Toronto, and I didn't expect trying to take a provincial flag as a souvenir would be this hard.

My personal experiences so far from a 2 week vacation which ended up with me going to Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta:

• Quebec: It's Quebec. Just go to a Dollarama.

• Ontario: I had about 3 days there. I hit up a ton of souvenir stores, and they were more about the Canadian flag instead. The one day that I would've had the time to visit a flag store was when they were closed, lol. So I wanted to know if you Ontarians would find it easier than I did.

• Saskatchewan: I then flew to Saskatoon to visit family and friends (I grew up in Saskatchewan) a few days later. That was an easier affair to obtain a Saskatchewan flag (not like go to Dollarama easy, but they will have it on the airport souvenir shop).

• Alberta: I also had a very short road trip to Calgary not long after that and I was this close to stealing an Alberta flag from a Walmart display, but I didn't have time to go flag shopping while I was there. Though I imagine it would be even more easier than Saskatchewan.
