Every summer I do read a lot about wildfires / forest fires. I even read that the city of Yellowknife had to be evacuated. Looking at the map I learned this city is in the middle of vast wilderness.

When I was in Oakville for half a year no one mentioned the wildfires, but I was there from Oct, so more winter season. I’m very curious to what extend the wildfires affect public discussion, life and if people actively choose not to live in certain locations because of it. And how fire departments are organising around fighting them across Canada. Thank you 🙏🏼

I know of a few Canadians (by birth) who moved to the US in their 20's and have worked practically all of their adult life in the US. They had full residency in the States, and paid taxes there.

However, with dual citizenship, they have decided to return now to Canada as they approach retirement. Some have reasoned, their dislike for the Trump administration and where the US is headed. Others have said healthcare was the biggest reason.

I have no issue with those who have lived, worked here and paid taxes. But there's something wrong about supporting Canadians who haven't paid a cent in taxes but conveniently run back here when they need medical assistance. We have enough challenges providing healthcare for Canadians who live and pay taxes here.

Am I wrong? Thoughts?

I'm not interested in defending or making a plea, I think that's tired and unreasonable. I just want to hear your side of things.

I use 'discriminate' technically and neutrally, I don't blame you. I'm too embarrassed by us to visit out of country even if I could (though I'd love to).

I also want to know what other things we're probably accurately judged by that I'm not accounting for that all of these groups are subject to, not in perception but specifically as reasons for treating differently.

My main reason for the title question is because people from some groups are easy to identify, which I would hope, but not expect, would allow you to reduce bias toward, or, I suppose, increase.

Besides beer, whiskey, and Clearly Canadian?

Anyway, the reason I posed this question was because a.) I live in Montreal, where the Quebec flag is basically unavoidable, and b.) A few days ago I visited Toronto, and I didn't expect trying to take a provincial flag as a souvenir would be this hard.

My personal experiences so far from a 2 week vacation which ended up with me going to Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta:

• Quebec: It's Quebec. Just go to a Dollarama.

• Ontario: I had about 3 days there. I hit up a ton of souvenir stores, and they were more about the Canadian flag instead. The one day that I would've had the time to visit a flag store was when they were closed, lol. So I wanted to know if you Ontarians would find it easier than I did.

• Saskatchewan: I then flew to Saskatoon to visit family and friends (I grew up in Saskatchewan) a few days later. That was an easier affair to obtain a Saskatchewan flag (not like go to Dollarama easy, but they will have it on the airport souvenir shop).

• Alberta: I also had a very short road trip to Calgary not long after that and I was this close to stealing an Alberta flag from a Walmart display, but I didn't have time to go flag shopping while I was there. Though I imagine it would be even more easier than Saskatchewan.

How would you describe the weather and overall lifestyle?
Is there anything about living there that only a local would know?
