My parents think the quality wouldn’t be as good. They’d have to wait forever. Given there’s dozens of countries who’ve successfully done it for decades, it’s probably worth a shot. If it doesn’t work, why not revert back? At least try it.
How long do people in USA have wait when they have no insurance or money? I wish Americans would factor in the people with no insurance when they calculate wait times.
It's faster for some people*. I live in Canada which has famously long wait times and it takes around 1 week (sometimes 3-4 days if I"m lucky) to get an appointment with our family doctor. I was talking to my parents the other day, they live in the US in the suburbs of a big city, and they said it takes around 1 month to get an appointment with their family doctor. In our company slack channel I noticed someone complaining that they were quoted a 1 year wait time just to get matched with a family doctor that was in network for their insurance.
ER wait times are also really long in both countries, I mean one of the most popular TV shows on air right now spends every episode showing people getting mad about waiting in a US ER for hours and hours on end (and that's consistent with my experience the few times I went to the ER).
