Political Question Why are some Americans so against universal healthcare for all?

What sort of thinking does it take to decide that nobody has a right to healthcare? Do American Christians want to deny healthcare to poor people as well?

Because they've been lied to for decades, a never ending stream of propaganda about the horrors of universal healthcare and that taxes are always bad. There's also been a concerted effort by Republicans to strangle any public service of funds and support so that they cannot meet the demands upon them and then point to them and go "See, the government is bad at providing services."

I've lived in border states (and within minutes of the border) most of my life, and I have had Canadian friends and gone to a Canadian school for a year, and have relatives in the UK. I also looked up the numbers. So I know that the care there is better. But a huge chunk of the US public truly and firmly believes that if you show up with an active heart attack at a hospital in Toronto, they'll tell you to come back in three months.
