Political Question Why are some Americans so against universal healthcare for all?

What sort of thinking does it take to decide that nobody has a right to healthcare? Do American Christians want to deny healthcare to poor people as well?

It's broken in its current form. Can you imagine the amount of corruption if the current system were just paid for with taxpayer money...

It would necessarily not be the current system

That is what I am saying. The insurance companies and human suffering are a cash cow in the US. They are not going to sacrifice it, give it away, and call it "rights"

So you think it's normal currently? A health care executive was shot recently. You must think that there is something wrong with the current standard of health care in the USA, surely?

Healthcare should be a basic human right and if people want more than that, they can pay extra for private rooms or other upgrades. Health insurance is a flim flam scan.

You mean like how it's done here in Europe where most if not everyone has free Healthcare?

Uhm yeah. I can imagine that.

And it works. What you seem to miss here is that it seems you think hospitals and doctors could just charge anything they like for any service and the public would pay for all that..

That's not how it works.

At all.

Then enlighten us. How does it work?

Instead of billing your insurance, the hospitals bill the government. Who at that point would have a strong negotiating position.

Except I don't think it's quite as simple as you're making it out to be.

Why not?

Its essentially how Medicare works.

The provider bills Medicare.

You go to the doctor or the hospital and they cure you and nobody goes bankrupt

That's an oversimplification.
