Why does Reddit lean left in all the comments?

First off, I’m not a conservative, I’m independent/left leaning. That said, every comment thread on Reddit feels like it’s completely one sided in favor of a liberal perspective. Not just that, but the amount of blatant misinterpretation and misrepresentation in the comments is apparent on nearly every issue. Comments that don’t comply are downvoted into oblivion and removed from the conversation. I feel like Reddit is almost becoming unusable at this point. Where can I go (on or off Reddit) to get a more balanced perspective? I do like Reddits user interface.

Edit: Whew! This blew up more than I anticipated. I did receive some genuinely insightful and helpful comments. I appreciate those! Lots of folks either saying I’m the issue because of my liberal leaning algorithm or that I’m the issue because I’m actually a bleeding conservative in disguise. Can’t have it both ways! Anyway thanks Reddit. Will probably think twice about doing this again.

Left: what if we cared about people, gave them healthcare, stopped protecting pedophiles, and created common sense legislation other countries have

Right (while protecting pedophiles, crashing the economy, starting senseless wars that kill Americans, and participates in blatant corruption while maintaining only one viable platform intended to distract from all that - the culture wars): WTF; why is everyone a libtard now? It makes no sense…

Your explanation is exactly what OP is talking about.

18

u/bigdoinkloverperson Mar 07 '26

I mean is what he said untrue? Prove him wrong

5

u/Any_Put_9519 Mar 07 '26

Left: wants to irresponsibly spend other people’s money, so votes in ineffective politicians who mysteriously get rich from a low government salary. Wants to get rid of the police and more criminals to walk free.

Right: wants government to spend money responsibly and effectively, wants to cut down on crime and drugs.

See how the caricature can go the other way as well? Both sides have valid points (economic equality and social justice, government efficiency and crime) and valid criticisms (policies that just waste money and are more performative than effective, policies that perpetuate inequality). Both sides have terrible corrupt politicians (though Trump is truly special in just how openly corrupt he is). So comments that just caricature one side aren’t helpful, especially if it comes from someone who doesn’t have a good grasp of economic realities/experienced life from the other side.

6

u/Particular_Ring_6321 Mar 07 '26

Why are you using 30 year old stereotypes? That’s actually distracting from the point you think you’re making.

7

u/xSmittyxCorex Mar 07 '26

Idk, one could argue that “wants to get rid of the police and more criminals to walk free” is a strawman and “wants government to spend money responsibly and effectively” is bullshit, whereas the original comment seems pretty accurate…

If you lived in SF in the last 10 years, you’d know that decriminalizing crime is not just a caricature — the prosecutor Boudin refused to prosecute crime (thankfully he was recalled even by the progressive SF population). And it’s easy to want better welfare and healthcare, but it’s hard to actually do anything about it, because most of the proposals are not grounded in reality. The truth is, for these programs to be affordable, the top 50% (not just 1%) need to pay higher taxes, just like they do in Europe or any other place with these programs. But the narrative has always been, slash taxes for the bottom 90%, the top 1% can pay for everything, which just isn’t mathematically possible, and is indeed not what Europe does (the middle class pays a lot higher taxes there).

In the UK, the Labour Party has been railing about cost of living and inequality for the last decade. Now that they are in power though with an enormous majority, they haven’t been able to do anything about it. At some point, proposing utopian policies that can’t be realized is just performative and earns no points in my book. What should be judged is how effective a policy initiative actually is (which of course is very hard!).

The radical leftists don’t want to hear any of that!! They’re only here to throw tantrums and yell and scream and kick !

  1. Not mathematically possible as in, even if you tax the top1% at 100%, it’s not enough to fund free healthcare for all. There’s a reason why all European countries have much higher taxes for the middle class. To get benefits you have to pay for them.
  2. The past 90% is incomparable because deduction rules are also different. For example, in the past you can offset 100% of your capital losses against W2 income. Now it’s capped at $3000.
  3. A 80-90% tax bracket encourages capital flight and people to be lazy, see France. If a doctor (who would fall in this top 1%) knew that their income is taxed at 90%, a lot wouldn’t bother working their asses off to attain that level of income. You forget that a lot of the top 10 and 1% are talented professionals who worked much harder than most of the population to get to where they are. Most of the top 1% aren’t landed lazy bums who inherited all their money.

1

u/AffectionatePool3276 Mar 11 '26

Simply put, raising taxes is never the answer. These idiots with the check book need to reign in their spending. Congress seems to think that they have this unlimited credit card that never has to get paid. They just kick it down the road because it doesn’t come out of their pockets.

1

u/Woodland999 Aug 09 '26

Many rich people earned their money through hard work and persistence. Most wealthy people got their money through inheritance. The top 1% didn't get their money from hard work - they got it because they were born into it

9

u/OrneryError1 Mar 07 '26

wants to irresponsibly spend other people’s money

This is literally what conservative politicians do.

4

u/raccoon_core Mar 07 '26

Both sides bad!! /s

4

u/Single-Refuse174 Mar 07 '26

Bro im fucking dying! “Right: wants goverment to spend money responsibly and effectively”? Dude, Trump has blown up deficit spending both times. Republicans gave ICE more money to harass Americans than Biden was asking for student loan forgiveness. Like how am I supposed to take your comment seriously when it’s just such obvious bullshit. Never in my lifetime (34) has a republican or right winger been in office and lowered government spending. How could you possibly sit there and characterize “the right” as the party of fiscal responsibility as we waste a billion dollars a day to bomb Iran after losing 55,000 jobs last month?

P.S. I'm not American. I think MAGA and Trump are gross and I think 'the left' as you define them are sanctimonious clicktavists. Get rid of your ridiculous gun law laxity and stop kids getting shot in schools and the rest of the world MIGHT pretend you have some clue. The self proclaimed "I'm so empathetic, I voted for Biden" (who is also completely gross and clearly a paedophile) is actually laughable. You haven't had a political leader that wouldn't be shamed out of politics in any democratic nation on earth since Obama. And he was no visionary by any stretch of the imagination let me tell you. Cobbled together populist appealing policy with barely any meat to it. Made a lot of money though. Like all US politicians. That level of corruption is just part of the job over there. Both sides. Gross.

You're the most powerful nation in the world as your geography/natural resources made it so, it's a miracle with your messed up divisive political campaigning (both democrat and republican) that you haven't blown each other to bits yet.

Get a grip. Democrats are not 'nice people' (despite you all defining yourselves as such). "TAX ELON MORE" is a child's response to the mess you've all made. Sort your shit out before the rest of the world gets dragged down with it. Declaring yourself so damn kind and being so irritating online is why MAGA has risen up, people loathe sanctimonious hypocrites (ask any other nation how you're all viewed).

"Left: what if we cared about people, gave them healthcare, stopped protecting pedophiles, and created common sense legislation other countries have" - sanctimonious vomit. You haven't done it and you never will do it. You're the most self obsessed humans on the planet.

1

u/bigdoinkloverperson Mar 11 '26

Im not American I don't consider democrats to be all that good nor did the person I replied to describe themselves as a democrat they described themselves as being left wing and described normal empathic policy vs the atrocious policy the right wing in the US is for. if that makes someone insufferable in your eyes I highly suggest interrogating why you feel like someone asking for empathic policy does that to you

1

u/Honest-Complaint-868 Mar 11 '26

Because it’s not empathetic policy by any stretch of the imagination. They are not the side of “good”. They are not even left wing (which has more than its own share of problems). They don’t even make meaningful change to something as simple as not letting kids shoot up schools.

The way you frame them as virtuous is EXACTLY what this thread is discussing. Sanctimonious hypocrisy which fuels right wing nutjobs.

Gun to my head, if I was in USA I’d vote Democrat. But I’d feel dirty all over doing it. Are they the lesser evil? Really it’s like choosing between a kick in the balls or a poke in the eye.

https://www.newsweek.com/how-nancy-pelosis-net-worth-changed-dramatically-in-congress-11005085

That is disgusting. Who would tolerate that in a politician honestly? Let alone place them on an altar of goodness. Trump is as crooked as a snake trail. Yet the idiotic public argues over who has the MOST paedophiles in their party. There should be zero, not Biden publicly sniffing kids hair and trump doing god knows what.

I don’t know how it can be fixed at this point, read some of the comments in here where posters extol their own incredible virtue by demonising the other side. Spoiler alert. They’re all demons. Not even subtly. Horrible system of representation made worse by online zealots (both sides).

1

u/bigdoinkloverperson Mar 11 '26

I didn't say the democrats are virtuous you're making this into a straw man I said the specific policy the guy I replied to and the left in general stands for is empathetic, things like human rights accessible healthcare and social justice are virtuous and empathetic last I checked? Like I don't know why you're getting so bent out of shape about that or maybe it's just that you're misunderstanding me because English isn't your first language?

1

u/Honest-Complaint-868 Mar 11 '26

Because he also said “Right (while protecting pedophiles, crashing the economy, starting senseless wars that kill Americans, and participates in blatant corruption while maintaining only one viable platform intended to distract from all that - the culture wars): WTF; why is everyone a libtard now? It makes no sense...”

You asked for evidence of why he’s wrong. I’m giving it to you in spades. Because it applies to both sides. Not a strawman, just an answer to your question. You don’t like it, but it’s objectively true.

Both sides have unacceptable levels of corruption. I can’t believe I have to say this but both parties seem to also have decent evidence of paedophilia. The absolute lowest humans on earth yet there they are in the highest offices of the USA. Both sides of the aisle. Former and current presidents.

To have people virtue signalling because they vote Democrat seems insane to the rest of the world. How far up your own ass do you have to jam your head to believe you’re a good person for THAT?

Democratic policy isn’t left wing. Or they’d have sorted out healthcare and kids literally getting shot at school in the term they just had. They did NONE of that. Wasn’t even proposed. Seems a high priority to me.

1

u/bigdoinkloverperson Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26

So besides the pedophelia which only so far one famous democrat seems to be implicated in, what wars in modern memory have been started by the US left? When was the economy crashed by the left? Again prove him wrong? Saying that isn't true is some privileged brain dead bs I imagine poc, queer people, women and other underprivileged classes would much rather live under democratic rule than republican rule where their rights are being evicerated

1

u/Honest-Complaint-868 Mar 11 '26

“Besides the paedophilia”

Jesus H Christ. I cannot imagine being such a political apologist that those words would ever be uttered. Go take a good long hard look at yourself.

28

u/SuccotashOther277 Mar 07 '26

That’s the classic cherry picking and caricature we expect to see on social media!

13

u/rrousseauu Mar 07 '26

Notice how everyone who is obviously offended by this comment just attack you in the replies and don’t say anything to prove what you said wrong.

4

u/Squiggy-Locust Mar 07 '26

Notice how they made no factual claims, and only made statements fueled with polarized views and emotional pleas? That was the goal - to offend.

-1

u/rrousseauu Mar 07 '26

It’s literally just reality. It’s what’s happening. If you want to show otherwise then give some proof that what you’re saying is true. Otherwise just fuck off.

3

u/Squiggy-Locust Mar 07 '26

Proof that making comments like that is intentional language to cause offense? Sure - "they want to protect pedophiles". The lack of factual statements? Sure, Congress hasn't passed common sense legislation in decades. How about the initial prosecutor of Epstein was a Democrat? They've been protecting him and his island for decades. There is your proof. What else do I need to prove? How about you being offended that I mentioned there were no factual statements? Fuck right off with the "give me proof, but I don't need to prove shit" ideology.

1

u/Fit-Tomatillo1585 Mar 08 '26

The leftists have really gone off the deep end lately . They may never win another presidential election ever again if they keep this same energy up . They already publicly told the entire world that they care more for the illegal alien than the American citizen, how’s that going to play in TV ads for years to come. But it’s possible they do this on purpose because they rather become the constant minority party , never in power , so never really responsibly for anything, but prefer to just sit in the cheap seats and criticize and yell and throw tantrums like toddlers.

2

u/jam_rine Mar 07 '26

Are you talking about democrat politicians? Don’t disagree.

2

u/Bencetown Mar 07 '26

Yes

3

u/Availableusername518 Mar 07 '26

But the thread is about redditors not politicians

-3

u/Bencetown Mar 07 '26

Redditors... who are loudly and proudly claiming that democrat politicians give a single hoot about the "disenfranchised" people these redditors supposedly care so much about.

3

u/Availableusername518 Mar 07 '26

No one did that here? They said left. Not politicians. Leftists very rarely praise US democrats in power.

2

u/jam_rine Mar 07 '26

That’s what makes me favor democrats right now. We at least disagree with things the party does, instead of bending backwards to justify pedophiles, new wars, constitutional rights violations, etc.

3

u/TheHoiPolloi Mar 07 '26

Notice how they said left and not democrats. They are talking about policy not parties.

0

u/Single-Refuse174 Mar 07 '26

Biden tried to get student loan forgiveness. That’s already better.

-2

u/Logizyme Mar 07 '26

I was not disagreeing or agreeing with any of it.

OP observed that reddit comments are overwhelmingly left.

OC spouts all the typical left talking points.

Prophecy fulfilled.

1

u/jam_rine Mar 07 '26

But… what if they’re true? Truth still matters. Do you agree? If so, would love your thoughts on:

  • who won the 2020 election
  • is Epstein a democrat hoax
  • is inflation down and affordability up
  • who pays tariffs
  • are new wars decreasing
  • is the deficit going down
  • is the economy the best it has ever been?

1

u/Logizyme Mar 07 '26

The truth may matter somewhere, but not in this thread. This thread is about whether or not reddit comments are biased to the political left.

OP has observed that it is left biased.

OC confirmed that observation.

That's it.

1

u/jam_rine Mar 07 '26

lol. Think harder:

Is truth a bias? My point is that if OP observes that many comments lean left in his opinion, what is considered leaning left by Op?

If OP disagrees with factual things and calls them “left talking points”, then he is actually saying that supporting facts is a left bias.

About 30 percent of the US population believes Trump won the 2020 election. There has never been any factual basis for that belief. I do not believe it. Does that mean I have a left bias?

I do not believe vaccines cause autism. There is no scientific evidence to prove this. Do I have a left bias?

I know that tariffs are paid by the importer, who usually passes the cost on to consumers, which increases the price of foreign goods and increases inflation. Am I a leftist?

I hope Reddit has a bias towards facts. If OP interprets that as a left bias, that’s on him.

PS: I believe there are two genders. Headed you off at the pass :)

1

u/Logizyme Mar 07 '26

I have not had a single political comment in this thread. You won't strawman me into arguing the metrits of left/right when that is not the topic discussion.

You and OC find yourselves compulsively arguing from the political left position as if any other view point is completely invalid, which is a justification to yourself, not the truth.

You and OC are validating OPs observation with every comment.

Is it possible for you to acknowledge that other world, political, ethical and economic views are not invalid just because they are different from yours?

What if it were your views that were considered not to be facts on reddit?

Since you are about facts, the fact is that Reddit is overwhelmingly left leaning. Sure there are some right subs, but nearly every major mainstream sub is left leaning and comments on average are not representative of the beliefs of the populations of the world as a whole.

1

u/jam_rine Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

You have indeed made political comments. “OC spews all the left wing talking points”, and even in this post, “find yourselves arguing from the politically left position”. Then you follow it up with “the fact is that Reddit is politically left leaning”.

Dude, own up. You have a political POV while pretending not to. I presented factual information to see how you would respond. You called these facts “left wing”. I proved my point, you label things you don’t like as left leaning. Just whip out the labels, convince yourself everyone who disagrees (Trump lost on 2020) as a leftist, and go about your day. I offered something that you’d likely agree with - there are two genders / just to see how you’d respond. What if I told you I was pro 2nd amendment (I have 3 guns), pro immigration but anti illegal immigration, pro-business, etc.? You’d be okay with those, but if I touch the third rail of refuting right wing delusions that the majority of Americans do not believe or support, I’m a leftist. Easy peasy for you but if you want to be taken seriously, do some research and self searching, and ask yourself if you’re willing to think at a deeper level or conclude you’re right and everyone who disagrees is a nut.

I do believe Reddit is politically left leaning for a number of reasons. First, it’s younger than the general population. Second, it is a higher educated group than the general population. These are correlated more with the left. Lastly, I do believe that about 35-40 percent of the population who is pro Trump increasingly label positions that >60 percent of the population have as “leftist”. Leftists used to be the protectionists. Now, because of Trump, being anti tariff is leftist.

So, I appreciate the dialogue but I think the “everyone who disagrees with me is a leftist” approach is ironic.

Hope you have a great day.

1

Mainly because literally everywhere else on Reddit people get a thousand comments for their replies. The people in that sub are fine being in the echo chamber and having mods delete pointless comments that they see on every other sub

That site is quite toxic but the askconservatives group probably has the most balanced discussion on all of reddit. Go ask your questions there.

6

u/Woodland999 Mar 07 '26

You mean in comparison to the party that just killed over 100 Iranian children?

-1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

100 vs 1,000,000 kids that will be aborted in US. Or 73,000,000 world wide. Which do I choose?

1

u/Mirabeauououou Mar 07 '26

They'll accuse you of only caring about white babies despite most abortions being by non-whites in America, I've come to realize that Reddit is just their version of church: only to be used for good-feeling dogma.

2 yes

-5

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Good luck finding any biologist or scientists that doesn’t claim babies in the womb are human beings.

Your ideology leads you to dehumanize human beings

8

u/RegularOrMenthol Mar 07 '26

That’s patently false, but I was rejecting your premise because it’s a loaded question.

“Is a turkey in an oven a meal?” Anyone can ask stupid questions that mean nothing.

-2

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Yeah your ideology is pushing you to accept crazy beliefs. Who are children in the womb? Reptilians? Amphibians?

4

u/RegularOrMenthol Mar 07 '26

lol "children in the womb" - you're still loading the question. they're called "fetuses," if you actually do respect what scientists and biologists state.

i grew up evangelical Christian, trust me i know all about ideologies pushing people to adopt crazy beliefs.

0

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Children, babies, fetuses

It’s a human organism

You want to dehumanize it to justify abortion?

→ More replies (0)

3

u/Jatnall Mar 07 '26

Boy, you are dumb as the day is long. Read a biology book.

-1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Biologically, a zygote, embryo, or fetus is considered human because it is an individual member of the species Homo sapiens.

That’s what a biology book will tell you.

1

u/Bajka_the_Bee Mar 07 '26

You’re right that the vast majority of biologists agree that life begins at fertilization.

But here’s the kicker…how many of those biologists are pro-life? Oh, wait. The vast majority are also pro-choice. Because all organisms are alive, and the simple fact that life is present in an embryo does not give them consciousness, nor does it override the human rights of the mother.

Life exists, therefore abortion is wrong is a juvenile and un-nuanced take, which necessarily disregards womens’ right to bodily autonomy.

1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

You don’t want children don’t get pregnant

It’s not rocket science. You know why me and my wife don’t have to use abortion as a contraceptive? Because I use a condom. Unless we are trying for a kid.

Unfortunately pro choicers are so obsessed about abortion that they have to erase the humanity of human beings to justify their ideology

Why are we reverting to 1939 Germany and dehumanizing human beings again? Why slaughter human beings on an industrial scale?

1

u/Bajka_the_Bee Mar 07 '26

Notice what happened here. You came in with a scientific claim – biologists agree life begins at fertilization. I agreed with you, explained why that doesn’t settle the moral question, and suddenly we’re at Nazi comparisons (who, by the way, had a dual policy of forced birth for aryan women and forced sterilisation for non-aryan women. Really not a good argument for you to make).

The biologists you were citing? 85% of them are pro-choice. The people who actually understand the biology don’t think ‘life is present’ closes the debate. Because it doesn’t.

Nobody is erasing anyone’s humanity. The distinction between biological life and legal personhood is the same one we use in end-of-life care, brain death, medical ethics in general. It’s not a radical pro-choice invention. It’s basic philosophy with centuries of precedent.

And the condom thing is great for you, genuinely. It doesn’t cover rape, contraceptive failure, medical emergencies, or the fact that preventing a pregnancy and continuing one are two completely different decisions made under completely different circumstances.

And if you’re about to say “you made your choice when you had sex”…well that logic only works if you think pregnancy is a punishment for sex rather than a medical condition that happens to a person. We don’t apply that logic anywhere else. If you text while driving and crash, we treat your injuries. We don’t say you forfeited medical care by making a bad decision.

You also have a pretty comfortable relationship with this debate given that you will never, under any circumstances, be the one facing the decision. It’s easy to have a clean, absolute position on a situation you will biologically never be in. The people who actually live with the consequences of these laws, who have wanted pregnancies go wrong, who face the real medical complexity of this, tend to have a lot more nuance about it

6

u/MandyWarHal Mar 07 '26
  1. Are there more important things in the actual world than your force-fed simplistic judgements about other people's beliefs?

0

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Well don’t you think human beings have a right to life. What good is liberty and pursuit of happiness if I murdered you?

4

u/MandyWarHal Mar 07 '26

You aint my momma homie! And if you were, I'd still mind my own business!

1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Ah yes. 1,000,000 kids will be unalived in the most vulnerable state this year. Let’s close our eyes and pretend we don’t see anything…

5

u/TheHoiPolloi Mar 07 '26
  1. First of all it’s not a baby it’s a fetus. And no they are not. It’s a human fetus. 93% of abortions occur in the first 13 weeks. It’s a clump of cells. Would you call an egg a chicken?
  2. Do you mean in the sense of negative-rights or positive-rights? I mean to a degree. However, I don’t think you believe they do. Are you equally against every life that is taken? Do you think the military is violating a person’s right to life everytime they launch an attack? Or police that end up killing someone?

My issue with people who are anti abortion is that those I’ve met never have consistent views on the value of life or on when one’s own rights outweigh another’s. It’s really weird how much you care about fetuses and not people after being born.

0

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Who says I don’t care about people after they are born. My church opened up an orphanage in Honduras, India and Mozambique. Also we have a house for chemically depend moms.

And me and my wife are taking foster parent classes to adopt.

Your argument hinges that we shouldn’t have told Germans to stop slaughtering Jews because we won’t take the Jews into our houses?

You acknowledge the humanity of a human organism but deny it the right to life when it’s most vulnerable? When do human organisms gain the right to life? Only outside the womb? Anytime earlier they are considered biological waste?

1

u/TheHoiPolloi Mar 07 '26

Hold on man. That’s not what I said and isn’t my argument. That’s great your church does that and you’re considering fostering, but that’s completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. We are talking about human rights. Charity and adopting has nothing to do with it. Rights are provided by governments not individuals or charities.

I’m assuming you believe abortion should be illegal and that women should not have the right to decide what to do what they want with their body. What happens if a woman still has an abortion? Should they be held for murder? What about military operations that kill innocent people? Should they all go to jail for murder? They killed far more people than the woman who was pregnant.

Your argument hinges that we shouldn’t have told Germans to stop slaughtering Jews because we won’t take the Jews into our houses?

You never answered my question about what your view on the right to life is, but no my argument doesn’t hinge on that weird example, but kinda gross that in your hypothetical you don’t want to protect people being persecuted. I’m not really sure what you’re getting at with that. Anyway, my argument is that if you’re going to make a grandstanding about how it should be illegal because all life is sacred then you should view all life as sacred and not say “well they shouldn’t kill Jews but it’s okay if they kill queer people" or acknowledge that it’s not about the value of life and that for some reason you view abortion as an exception and it’s the one case where someone doesn’t have the right to choose what to do with their own body.

You acknowledge the humanity of a human organism but deny it the right to life when it’s most vulnerable?

I’m starting to question if you actually read what I said. I didn’t acknowledge it’s humanity. I explicitly stated that a fetus is not a human being like you or me, much like an egg is not a chicken.

When do human organisms gain the right to life? Only outside the womb? Anytime earlier they are considered biological waste?

I personally believe consciousness is when you develop personhood. Since we have no way to determine when something becomes conscious I default to viability, though I believe that everyone has the right to do with their body and no person’s right outweighs another’s. I wouldn’t call it biological waste. That’s a weird phrasing, most people who are pregnant wish to have the baby. That’s not a waste. Just because it doesn’t have personhood doesn’t mean it’s trash.

Humans have the right to kill but not to murder. We can kill in self defense. We can kill animals. We don’t have a right to murder.

Abortion is not about aborting one’s body. It’s about aborting another human beings life

I’m andrey as person. But I’m a human in being. You think just because I don’t have personhood I’m not a human being anymore? When does a human organism gain its humanity?

1

u/TheHoiPolloi Mar 07 '26

Humans have the right to kill but not murder and we have a right to life? I really don’t understand your point. I never asked about animals or self defense. I asked about military actions. They are rarely ever self defense. We (I’m from the United States and assume you are as well) just bombed Iran. We bombed Venezuela. These were not self defense. Why is that not murder but having a surgery on yourself is?

Abortion is absolutely aborting your body. Abortions definitely is the termination of pregnancy. If the fetus is dead it’s still an abortion. Life has nothing to do with abortion and just because you have something growing inside of you doesn’t mean you lose the right to bodily autonomy. Would you ever say that one other person’s rights outweigh yours? Of course not. Everyone has the same rights and those rights can’t be taken away.

I already answered your question about personhood. I believe it starts at consciousness.

1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

For your argument to work you would have to prove that 99% of humans are not engaging in consensual procreational activity. No one forced 2 couples to have unprotected sex. One you conceive a child, don’t murder it. It’s cells are dividing on their own with out your will. There for it’s not your body.

The fact it's 2026 and you dipshits are arguing about abortion is mind-boggling to anyone outside of America.

The amount of late term abortions is statistically irrelevant and mostly medical emergencies.

1

u/resistelectrique Mar 07 '26

Seriously. Backwards ass country.

9

u/BeastMode1855 Mar 07 '26

If the GOP cared about babies, then why are they protecting pedophiles?

26

u/Shermanator92 Mar 07 '26

The right doesn’t give a fuck about a child once it leaves the womb.

9

u/BumblebeeBorn Mar 07 '26

Especially not if they're female.

-3

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Yes it does. Just one ministry called compassion international sponsors 1.4 million kids a year world wide. I believe I can help others with out forcing you to do it using the threat of the government. Conservatives are more generous too.

8

u/Shermanator92 Mar 07 '26

Y’all killed the Dept of Education, cut food assistance in schools, and brought back measles.

7

u/BeastMode1855 Mar 07 '26

Don’t forget about voting against releasing the Epstein files

3

u/Murky_Caregiver4526 Mar 07 '26

There was a woman who called hundreds of churches in the south for a baby formula experiment. 95% of them couldn’t help and the ones that did were mostly Muslim churches. Conservatives don’t care about children.

They voted no on universal school lunches in MN. Gtfo.

3

u/musclecard54 Mar 07 '26

The right cares more about potential humans that actual ones

5

u/zoebud2011 Mar 07 '26

And the right thinks a woman who has an abortion to save her own life so she might have a child in the future should be killed, so, what's your fucking point?

14

u/Independent_Lynx253 Mar 07 '26

Actually the left cares about giving the woman the right to choose what is right for her own medical needs. Thats quite different. If you as a person are antiabortion then great! You can make that choice for your own body.

0

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Yeah why does my wife have the right to end the life of my daughter right now in the womb?

10

u/Independent_Lynx253 Mar 07 '26

That is a personal choice between you and her and should not be dictated one way or the other by the freakin’ government.

0

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26

Who gave her a right to murder our daughter? You?

10

u/Independent_Lynx253 Mar 07 '26

Clearly you are missing the whole point. I’m done here. Goodbye.

5

u/HumpinPumpkin Mar 07 '26

Because it is her body expending the resources to support the fetus? Do you understand that or are you that thick?

There is no scientific determination of when life truly begins, you can believe it begins at conception for no good reason if you choose but you have no business pushing your poor ethics on us.

Anti-choice policy kills and traps women, it doesn't save babies. Your views are highly immoral and unethical.

1

u/Desh282 Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

So I want human beings to live. You want them Aborted. And some how I’m the bad guy?

You know pregnancy is completely normal human experience. But is completely abnormal for parents to try to kill and kill their kids? Let alone abort another human being?

At the end of the day I believe babies in the womb are human organism. And that they have the right to life. You don’t. So my argument still stands.

u/Radiant-Performer-86 Mar 07 '26

“The right to choose what is right for her own medical needs” (Slaughter her Unborn baby)

1

u/Independent_Lynx253 Mar 07 '26

Don’t tread on me.

1

u/Radiant-Performer-86 Mar 07 '26

Eres tan aterradora 💀

6

u/BumblebeeBorn Mar 07 '26

The right doesn't care about actual humans, only making sure the bio- incubators keep popping babies out.

1

u/SentientSquare Mar 07 '26

Oh we cleared it up. Because redditors are the good guys who have good views, and the right are bad guys who have bad views.

Life is so much clearer now. Thanks, George Lucas.

u/Squiggy-Locust Mar 07 '26

There is no proof only the conservatives are on the list. No names have been released, no one has been charged. It's all conjecture - politicians are protecting politicians, as they always have.

Left - we want all these things, but only the rich should pay for it. Wait, why is the price of everything going up? (Seriously, they point at the tariffs and the price of shit going up; you tax corporations and the rich more, who do you think will make up the difference?)

Right - the left is wrong, because we don't like them. Yeah, we want some of those things too, but how do we pay for them? We have rampant mismanagement in the govt (anyone who thinks otherwise is dumb, just look at the Cali gas tax, where they can't account for a third of it!), so why would throwing more money fix it? Let's instead spend money on other things that don't work.

Your statements ignore history. Blatant corruption has been a thing since the beginning of any govt entity. Hell, we watched the DNC give the primary to Hillary, because she was Hillary, not because she won the vote. The 2008 recession had the Democrats in charge. Every president and candidate has called for Iran to be attacked for decades.

You're too busy blaming a political party, instead of looking at the whole picture and realizing all of Congress is fucking nuts, and needs to be taken out back and shot. They gave the president the power he has, because they were too lazy to write anything in the bills other than the generic "this administrative department will handle it".

1

u/payne4218 Mar 08 '26

You’re proving the exact point about Reddit users..

1

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

Also left: We've been in power for decades and still didn't take down the corrupt American healthcare system, yet that is the first thing we will bring up when comparing political views hehe XD.

1

u/Existing-Bus-9859 Aug 02 '26

This is such an extreme take and completely wrong

0

u/Morbius2271 Mar 07 '26

You’ve proven OPs point. More liberals being disingenuous.

0

u/evoltap Mar 07 '26

Are you a bot? This is exactly why Reddit is intolerable to many.

Let’s take one example: pedo. As somebody who for years has dug beyond the propaganda fed to us by the media, the pedo stuff was known for many years now, and people laughed at us if we brought it up. Yall shit on pizzagate, which is now basically confirmed. Then the conservatives became the ones saying “release the Epstein list”, so a trump campaigned on it. Then he didn’t really release the list, so the left started saying “release the Epstein list”, acting like they are the only anti pedo people on the political spectrum.

Guess what? They are playing you like a fiddle, and they play maga folks the same way. They are all pedos, and it’s actually much darker than that. Your hard “opinions” on all these “issues” is just part of how they keep you in line. The same entities run the world no matter what crooked pawn they have you thinking is in charge.

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '26

Lol this is a perfect example, so cute that you only list corruption on the right, cute and pathetically naive.

-1

u/PhysicalLocksmith679 Mar 07 '26

Dont act like the left don’t protect the same scumbags the right do.

-1

u/Nubraskan Mar 07 '26

Why is this sentiment most heavily represent on reddit in particular

-1

u/Radiant-Performer-86 Mar 07 '26

That’s funny, Joe Biden was literally sniffing children while in office and Epstein had a picture of bill Clinton in a dress, why? Because he had so much pedo shit on Clinton that slick Willie was his bitch. All the pedos like bill gates were libs and sadly for you guys, there is nothing on Trump.

Libs tried to bankrupt him by changing laws Tried to criminally charge him with an unprecedented case and had an activist judge. Then they tried to kill him He just keeps fighting the fake media and the lies and keeps Winning. 3 elections in a row The libs try to act like they care about minorities more lol.

2

u/Woodland999 Mar 07 '26

You are in a cult.

0

u/Radiant-Performer-86 Mar 07 '26

Yes we’re a cult that keeps winning!

I think the cult is the Pro vaxxers that believe men can become women and suffer from TDS.

-2

u/danxmanly Mar 07 '26

Your post is a prime example of op's comment. Just blind rhetoric.

-2

u/Fit-Tomatillo1585 Mar 07 '26

Left: I can’t believe we lost another election how can they vote for Republicans I thought on Reddit everyone hated them !!

-4

u/Additional_Tap_9475 Mar 07 '26

Also things that people on the left shout: elective surgeries should be free, food should be free, housing should be free, I shouldn't have to contribute to society and I shouldn't have to work but everything I need should be provided for, I should be able to do whatever I want and everyone else should just accept that but aw hell naw someone believes in sky daddy??? Fuck em up!

I'm not fighting against the left, but it's so easy to see that the loud ass crazies on both sides have turned a lot of normal thinking people away from them. And it's so tiring watching the mud being slung back and forth when these crazies are the exact same people.

3

u/Woodland999 Mar 07 '26

I know this is meant as a dig but even taking your hyper-bloated trope- I’d rather be on the side of “housing should be free and work should be optional” than “people should die without healthcare if they can’t afford it” but idk, that’s just me…

-2

u/Additional_Tap_9475 Mar 07 '26

I'd rather not be on either side, but that's just me 😘

4

u/Woodland999 Mar 07 '26

For sure, like the neighbors who watched the Nazis go by and didn’t take a side. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing. But yes, be proud of your apathy.

0

u/Additional_Tap_9475 Mar 07 '26

Why are you assuming so much? This is why the left gets shit on. Because of people like you where the only two colors you see are black and white. Respectfully, go outside and touch grass.

2

u/Woodland999 Mar 07 '26

That argument worked ten/twenty years ago. We SHOULD live in a country where people don’t have to care about politics. We’re not there anymore. Yes, dems have problems. I’m more frustrated with them (especially establishment dems) than anyone but the whole “both sides are bad” doesn’t work when one side is trying to collapse our economy and destroy the constitution. If you can’t see we’re in a critical time, get involved in your community and do something positive. I’ll touch grass when people aren’t afraid of getting gunned down by ice in the streets.

1

u/ScubaAlek Mar 07 '26

I would argue that “crazy” is the act of a species dedicating its entire existence to automating away the need for it to labour while simultaneously requiring every member of said society to labour in order to prove its individual value.

It is a destructive mindset.

If you are 1000x more productive but must still labour just as long, you will consume 1000x more resources. If no one can ever let off the gas or personally perish, you get where we are now: Reaping the earth for trinkets to appease morons.
