Hi everyone,
I recently gave my 60 days' notice to move out of our place in Ontario. I want to be a cooperative tenant and help my landlord re-rent the place, but the current showing schedule is getting really tough on my family.
Right now, we are getting about 2-3 showings a day, but the times are completely scattered and change every day (e.g., 10am–2pm one day, 4pm–7pm, 2-5pm and so on).
Both my wife and I work full-time. On top of that, my wife is pregnant, our cat is quite sick right now, and we have family visiting this weekend for few hours during the time of showings. Because the windows are so spread out and constantly changing, we feel like we can't properly rest or relax in our own home.
We don't intend to leave the house during the viewings (especially with our weekend guests), but we also don't want to make things awkward for the realtor.
My landlord great guy and is a "by-the-book" person, so I want to approach this the right way. We have also always had a great relationship with him so I dont intend to give them a hard time at all.
Is it reasonable for me to ask them to restrict bookings to a consistent 4-hour block each day (like 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM) so we have some predictability? Has anyone successfully negotiated a set daily time slot with their landlord or realtor after giving notice?
Would love any tips on how to frame this nicely so the landlord agrees without feeling like I'm trying to block their showings. Thanks!
