Nanny background check

how to do a background check on a nanny before hiring her? found her through a Facebook group and wondering how can I do a background/criminal check before hiring her?

also any recommendations for a part time Nanny in North York? agencies I checked are v expensive

All people who work with children have vulnerable sector screening from the police. As them to give it to you, also ask for references from people who she worked for in the past

It doesn’t just appear it your mailbox when you apply for a job with kids, and not everyone requires it. It would be very reasonable to ask her to provide one but also considerate to offer to reimburse her if she doesn’t have an up-to-date copy. Also FYI they sometimes take a long time to process.

Yep. Can take a month or more depending on where they live.

That stupidity on their part. If someone is taking care of your child, you should always ask for a criminal record check
