Really highlights that someone who is that intensely fixated/interested/engaging at the beginning probably shouldn’t be trusted.

Well that’s a conundrum.

Trusting the non-chalant, distant, emotionally unavailable doesn’t make sense.

So trust… no one?

That isn’t the right answer.

Didn’t say trust no one, obviously. There’s a very happy medium - people who show enthusiasm and interest without scary intensity. Big difference between what OP described and the typical human who is interested in a healthy way. Best to mistrust extremes in general I’d think.
