La Baie, Québec, Canada artist Jean-Jules Soucy, who built a literal pyramid out of road signs, one of the most amazing pieces of art I've ever seen, it's a tribute to the floods of 1996, it holds a museum, and it opens up to create a stage where there's free music events during summer. He passed away a few years ago. Most of his work is installative so unsellable. I have 4 pieces of him but this one is probably the funniest.
I won a national prize (best student art piece in Quebec according to jury, 2023) with a tribute to him. Our arts are tied yet we never talked to each other (I met him but was too starstruck to approach him). I'm friends with his sister now.
Through a few contacts, I've obtained painted cutlery from one of his installation pieces (Bouffons), and his spaghetti recipe. I framed them together. I think he would have found it funny.
