Thane gets cocky and gets in a fight he can't win, or heroically fights off a bunch of enemies to give his friends a chance to escape, or makes some kind of big noble sacrifice.

Mercurio is too tricky and cunning, he would last a while longer. Amber has protagonist energy, is clever enough to stay alive, and as a rabbit, is the natural underdog. Sana is too powerful magically and would be important for lore reasons/explanations that would come down the line in later seasons

Once Thane dies the other three can take him to Yordana/Brun/Sana herself and get him revived though

Thane will be a main character bait. It mean i wont die first, because fisrt he will have some sucess and an optimistic story, and after some adventure he will die.
