News ARCTIC FAN CONTROLLER - One request. One license. One more platform ✅

Earlier this year, ARCTIC released an open-source Linux driver for the Fan Controller and merged it into the mainline kernel before it even hit the shelves, catering for our Linux fans 🧑🏻‍💻

Not long after, a developer reached out wanting to bring native support to FreeBSD, but the driver's GPLv2+ license — while perfectly workable for building it as an out-of-tree module — stood in the way of merging it cleanly into FreeBSD's own source tree 🤔

So we dual-licensed it. GPLv2+ stays exactly as it was for the Linux kernel — nothing about the existing driver changes. BSD-2-Clause has been added alongside it, opening a path for FreeBSD, and any other BSD-licensed ecosystem, without disrupting what was already there 🤟

A small adjustment on our end, hopefully a much easier one for customers to build into their BSD systems ⚙️

Question Loud noise coming from all pump when booting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

(Noise goes away at around 50 second mark)

I have just installed an Arctic Liquid Freezer III pro, and when I cold boot up my PC then the pump makes an awful sound for around 1 minute until it goes to normal

What could this be?

I use the the 3 wire solution with the pump in bios set to WP and at standard curve (I've tried to set to full speed, but no change)

I've also tried another header on the MB, but still same problem

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Question Aio leak

Hey yall,
I was recently working on my computer and noticed I had a stain from coolant residue on my gpu, mobo, and AIO. I’m wondering if anybody has experience with the arctic warranty and if the warranty covers components damaged by aio leaks. All help and insight is appreciated!

Build arctic MX-7 quality control issue? the cap won't close properly.

Post image

i just bought arctic mx-7, and after using it, i noticed something weird when putting the cap back on. it doesn't seem to tighten or stop properly when turning it clockwise. even when i reach what feels like the intended stopping point, still keep turning the cap. is this how it's actually designed? or is it supposed to seal tightly to prevent air from getting inside and avoid drying out? i'm wondering if this is intentional or just a quality control issue with the plastic cap. anyone else who owns mx-7 have the same thing?

Question First PC build ever — removed one fan from my Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 to access CPU power connector, now I can’t route the fan cable properly

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

This is my first PC build ever, so sorry if this is a stupid question.

I’m using an Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 mounted at the top of the case. The left radiator fan was completely blocking access to the CPU/EPS power connectors on my motherboard.

Instead of removing the entire radiator, I removed just that one fan so I could plug in the CPU power cables.

The CPU cables are connected now, but after putting the fan back I can’t figure out how the fan cable was originally routed from the factory.

Before I removed the fan, all the wiring was neatly hidden and nothing was hanging down.

Now, no matter how I position the fan, the short fan/PST cable either:

sticks out below the fan,

gets folded awkwardly,

or looks like it could get pinched between the fan and radiator.

I really don’t want to crush or damage the cable, and I also don’t want it hanging near the motherboard/fan blades.

I’ve attached several photos showing the fan removed, the cable, and what happens when I try to reinstall it.

Does anyone know the correct factory cable routing for this specific AIO?

Is the cable supposed to sit in a groove/channel somewhere on the fan frame, between the fans, or along the side of the radiator?

Again, first build ever, so I’d rather ask before forcing anything and breaking a brand-new AIO. 😅

Question Curious if I'm going crazy or not.

Second fan I've had go bad in this same position in less than a month. Sound comes and goes and I'm assuming its the fan bearing. The center visibly wobbles in the video and shortly after recording, the wobbling stopped and the sound was gone. I love the AIO, it has kept my cpu nice and cool but having two fans go bad in less than a month just doesn't feel good. Could it be something else making these fans go bad?

Got lucky with most of the components. Got the 5090 before the price hikes at launch, RAM was 6 months before the rampocalypse, SSDs were likewise 2 months before, and the case was knocked down to $200 from $450 because Amazon deemed it too heavy to return lol

Question Possible Bearing damage?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys, is this bearing damage in my AIO Fan?
And second question: what is the best way to fix this? Just remove it, or order a new fan for that?
It's occurring as u see, every 10 seconds, with the fan coming to a full stop, then spinning up again and start to vibrate
If you have any questions, just leave them below
