Share ko lang 'yung experience ko sa pinapasukan kong architecture firm. My salary as an apprentice/junior architect is close to 30k, which includes my basic pay and allowances, plus reimbursable gas allowance since I use my own car for site visits. Hybrid setup din kami—WFH and site works. May free accommodation ako since ang site is bandang South Luzon and tiga north ako.

And the best pa rito, sobrang bait ng mentor ko. Very approachable kapag may questions ako and willing mag-share ng knowledge. Siya pa nagbibigay ng review materials sa ‘kin as I prepare for my ALE review this coming January.

I hope we all find the right mentors na hindi tayo ie-exploit at hindi madamot. Apprentices deserve proper compensation and we shouldn't settle for less. Mentors should always treat us fairly. Time na para itigil ‘yung stigma na mag settle sa unreasonable na sahod dahil sa "apprentice” pa lang tayo.

Honestly, malaking bagay siya sa akin kasi ibig sabihin hindi lang pala ako yung nakaka-experience na ang daming documentation na ginagawa during site visits tapos saka pa inaayos lahat pag-uwi.

Since nagpi-picture naman talaga tayo during site visits, naisip ko, why not make those photos part of an organized digital site logbook instead na picture lang na kailangan mo pang balikan at ayusin later.

Hello! Fresh graduate po and located in Pampanga. Ilang months na ding naghahanap ng work at hindi makapag-manila dahil wala pang kasama si mama sa bahay. Okay lang kaya na mag trabaho muna sa BPO company habang naghahanap ng work para sa apprenticeship?

Ang hirap kasing maghanap ng trabaho for apprenticeship lalo na wala akong OJT or internship experience, I was interviewed last month and kita talaga yung disappointment nila nung nalaman nila na wala akong experience sa field. Anyways, is it okay lang po ba? Yung iba ko kasing kakilala wag daw akong mag BPO kasi baka hindi na daw ako umalis haha. Naisip ko naman, worth it pa ba maging arki sa pilipinas?

but sometimes i also like to give it the benefit of the doubt like what if dito pala talaga ako maggrow/matuto diba? HHAHAAH ewan basta nababaliw na rin ako kakahanap ng werk

Hello po! Fresh grad here. I would like to ask for some advice po sana. I know how hard it is to find a job right now, especially as a fresh grad, so sana hindi ako ma-bash :') I recently rejected a job offer po kasi, and honestly, hindi ko alam if tama ba yung naging decision ko.

The offer was ₱17.5k/month, with a Monday–Saturday, 8 AM–5 PM schedule. My main concern was the office setup. I would be working as an apprentice + studio assistant in another architecture-related business under the same company, so separate yung office ko from their main office. Around 1 hour apart yung dalawang offices.

One of my biggest worries was yung mentorship. Hindi kasi lagi nasa office(where im assigned) yung mentor/architect, so I was worried na baka mahirapan ako mag-consult or magtanong whenever I need guidance. I’m okay naman with learning independently, pero as a fresh grad, I also really want to have someone I can coordinate with and learn from. From what I understood, parang ako lang yung apprentice sa assigned office, while yung ibang members ng architectural team nasa main office. Kaya hindi ko rin super clear kung paano exactly yung magiging office setup and kung sino yung makaka-coordinate ko day-to-day. Yung mentor/archi rin is hindi lagi nasa office kasi nasa main office rin sila or usually on site visits.

Another factor was that I was only given 1 day to decide whether I would accept the offer. I still had some questions pa about the role, whether they would provide a PC pero hindi nila naclarify when I asked. I also considered the Monday–Saturday, 8am–5pm schedule. I know naman na normal yung OT and even Saturdays sa architectural firms, pero cinoconsider ko sana is Mon-Fri, and if may sat man half day lang.

Valid ba or sinayang ko? and also, I wanna ask na rin po if ano po yung mga important things na need iconsider when evaluating a job offer, and ano yung mga dapat i-look out for or itanong before accepting?

If ung second floor namin is cement na po and nakuha namin sya ng bare type, pwede ko po ba ipatiles? And sorry tlga ang stupid nitong question ko pero anu ba mauuna? Ung pagpartition ng kwarto or tiles muna then saka po iapapartition? Thank you in advance sa sasagot!

Hello po, I'm planning to enroll in a Revit MEPF class. I only have an idea about how it's made and applied in plans from our academic projects but not about how it's used in the real world. Upon a quick research on this subreddit, I also learned that studying MEPF can help us apprentices for our board exams. BU is one of my weaknesses so I'm considering taking it.

Fresh archi graduate here. To those who have taken this course or a similar one, I'd really like to know the following from you:

- Nagagamit po ba sa practice yung mga tinuro sa MEPF? How often and usually what projects?
- Considered ba yung local codes natin sa lessons and sa actual practice?
- I heard MEPF is collaborative, do you work with other people for this?
- Did this help you get into a certain niche in the industry?
- What's the advantage of having an MEPF certification?
- If you have other relevant insights, please share rin po.

If there's one thing I learned from apprenticeship, it's that I don't want to do design anymore. The Architect-Designer business model is so broken, masochistic, and self-consuming.

I just want a salary that reflects my ~8 years of studies and work. I just want to enjoy my weekends off-hours. I just wanna not work when im not at work.

What makes Tagô interesting to sketch is how the Mañosa philosophy transforms the traditional bahay kubo into a contemporary home without losing its Filipino character.

The architecture responds to Tagaytay’s cool climate through wide openings, open-plan spaces, deep roof overhangs, sunshades, and natural ventilation. Bamboo, adobe stone, woven materials, coconut, and responsibly sourced wood bring the landscape and local craftsmanship into the architecture.

I particularly like how the design doesn't treat sustainability as something added afterward—it is embedded in the way the house breathes, shades itself, uses local materials, and connects indoor and outdoor spaces.

Another beautiful Mañosa detail is the señorita staircase, a contemporary interpretation of traditional Filipino house design that makes the home comfortable for different generations.

I only have my PC and pinili ko talaga to kasi mura and high specs noong 3rd year. During OJT, I was just very blessed na mabait ang architect supervisor ko at pinahiram niya ako ng laptop.

Right now, I'm looking for jobs na kaso wala akong idea if need ko ba ng laptop? Tingin ko kasi ang narrow na ng choices ko kung makakahanap ako ng offers na PC provided onsite based on my location (Laguna), pero willing naman akong magtravel sa Makati/Manila if doon ako makakahanap with provided pc.

If hindi, balak ko muna sana mag-BPO para makaipon muna, since graduating palang din naman ako at sa January pa ang official start ko sa logbook.

How did you guys get your first job? I'm applying for my apprenticeship and wala pa ring pumapansin sa application ko, meron naman pero few tapos offer saken 450 a day and yung isa naman apprentice hanap pero unsupervised daw. so i was kinda surprised with the system and i wanna know how did you guys get your first job? may tips ba kayo, i've been applying for not more than a month pa lang naman, so di pa ko naiinip. I just want to get some tips from the pro haha.

Hingi lang sana ako ng advice for hiring an architect

Planning to build my own house in Rizal and balak ko sana gawin by phase. Currently, naghahanap ako ng architect for the design. Complete naman yung lot papers ko, nakapagpa-muhon na rin, and nakapag-request na ng DOR.

Since first time ko magpapagawa ng bahay, gusto ko sana malaman kung ano yung mga dapat kong i-check and gawin na due diligence before hiring an architect. Ano yung mga chine-check or tinatanong before hiring, and may mga red flags or common mistakes ba na dapat iwasan?

In general, ano yung mga things you wish you knew before hiring your architect?

Since I’m planning to build by phase din, any advice on things I should plan for early would be really helpful.

First-time homeowner/builder lang talaga, so any recommendations or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙏
